I’ve been following up on ‘paranormal’ topic of a conspiracy website and the wife of the original poster mentioned the sensation of her breath being sucked out. Prior to this she had felt warm air going up her nose while trying to go to sleep. My interpretation is that she is experiencing a lucid dream state — a consciousness in between sleep and wake.
My story is about an incident one night and I was fully awake. This was during my teens in the mid-1970’s. Our home was still a single story dwelling in the northern suburbs of San Jose, CA. And I remember sleeping with my bed DIRECTLY in front of the bedroom door. I could easily see the garage door straight ahead with the hallway as the cross intersection in the middle.
My paternal grandmother is superstitious and she mentioned not to place the bed in front of the door. I later read about how this symbolically represents a ‘death’ position from one my many Feng Shui books and articles online. But since my bedroom was too small to accommodate the large canopy bed with two larger pieces of furniture for clothing, I had decided to try this sleeping arrangement.
So that night I felt very uneasy and remembered what old granny said about not sleeping with my feet facing the bedroom door. I kept looking straight ahead into the hallway and saw nothing else but the light greenish glow of the smoke detector located on the ceiling and just outside my bedroom door, centered directly of the cross section of the hallway.
At the same time, I kept thinking about my first cousin, ‘Lornie’, who passed away. I never really knew her but ‘Maw’ and I cried in the jeepney (a modified post war jeep left over from the Americans) and on our way to visit the dirt poor, maternal relatives in 1976 for the first time. She was a ‘summa cum laude’ in the Philippines. Her jeepney turned over as per the story by an uncle, Florene, who broke the news to us.
Anyway, my uneasiness continued to increase and my mind searched my darkened room for any sign of movement but again there was nothing to be seen at all. I remembered shutting my eyes very tightly with my blanket pulled up close to my neck. Then suddenly I felt a very strong ‘SWOOSH’ travel from my feet and up past my face and out the window, which was located directly above my headboard.
During the ‘SWOOSH’, I felt my system shudder with fear. The sensation of the air was freezing and I felt the coldness again my entire face, which tightened to where one would make with a scowl or distasteful frown. I opened my eyes and quickly looked around for anything to explain this ‘paranormal’ event and still nothing was seen or heard. So, yeah, this is one of my many weird stories that I will enter slowly but surely into this blog of mine as remembered.
