The headline news is portraying another stupid fear tactic by the Taliban, who is holding twenty-three (23) South Koreans hostages in exchange for their demands to be freed. By the way, there were Filipinos being held hostage in Nigeria earlier this year but this incident did not make headline news! What makes the difference with the more sensational version, huh?
The part I do not appreciate is reading about how the kidnappers killed a German (a white man) and not one of these Asians. Maybe the hard-line militia is compassionate enough to allow these people to live by extending their deaths by another twenty-four (24) hours for the Afghanistan government to decide on their fates. I observe some sort of unfair prejudice going on here.
Perhaps these kidnappers were paid by these same people who have money to create another Hollywood-like production of fear with the overtones of terror. I see a picture of this Asian woman crying for the potential loss of her loved one(s) to death by the hands of these strangers from a far away land. The appeal to emotion would probably work but money speaks loudly than tears.
I am getting tired of the rich taking advantage of the poor people by psychologically torturing these unsuspecting folks with unnecessary sadness. I believe this form of fear has been happening to the families for those fighting in the Iraq war. Once again, the headline news happens to be another vehicle to spread information that only scratches the surface when the deeper meanings behind the bad news are barely presented as the real reasons why a ransom is needed in the first place.
Money does not mean much when the purpose behind those dealings is derived illegally. These people are humanitarians and yet they get caught in the line of fire for whatever underhanded purpose — obviously created by those with the means to supply another group of undeserving poor folks with weapons or other religious ideologies of salvation for fighting to the death. Greed is indeed a great sin. But the greatest sin is how money holds us hostage for survival.
