The “I had a dream…” speech made by Martin Luther King, Jr. will forever resound in my psyche and I will never forget the hard work of the brotherhood who continues to pave the way for freedom and peace among humankind.
Being an Asian born to Filipino’ parents and raised on American soil has been enriched my background with the diversity of cultures. My original dream has been to climb towards the illusion of upward mobility of “having” the likes of expensive cars, mansions on a hill, vacations homes on the beach, time-share cabins of ski resorts, designer clothes and jewelry, oh, and a trophy husband with straight, pearly white teeth.
Do we really own these hard earned expectations of being above the rest while others below live miserable or an otherwise squalid lifestyle? What do we really have to call our own? By removing all the illusions presented in this world, I believe that I truly own only my existence and experiences as a human in the here and now.
And my greatest dream is to share with people I love and with strangers I may come to know and to love of what I’ve have become, a newer and better me. There is also my personal ego of spreading the all reaching goal of peace and harmony, of course. And without further adieu, I’d like to share some more of my dreams.
(Note: The following dreams once again are weird and I do not offer any explanations whatsoever. These are meant to provide a blog of what’s left of these vivid dreams from memory to my public, are in no particular order because I did not keep a journal and are the most remembered to this day. You may wonder if your dreams may indeed be informative about yourself and your realities. Your subjective interpretation on this topic is as good as mine. Enjoy these titillating stories at your leisure and have a good laugh too).
