  • 20111110-Trying Themes

This time I trying a new WordPress.com theme:

    Bouquet by Automattic

Bouquet is an elegant, simple theme inspired by the beauty found in flowers. Notable features include two floral schemes, a responsive layout structure that adapts to smaller devices, a right sidebar, a full-width template, support for post formats, custom background, and custom header. Tags: blog, craft, journal, nature, outdoors, photoblogging, photography, clean, curved, earthy, flowery, natural, outdoorsy, simple, sophisticated, blue, pink, white, light, one-column, two-columns, right-sidebar, responsive-width, custom-background, custom-header, custom-menu, full-width-template, post-formats, rtl-language-support, translation-ready

There are two theme options of flowery header images: Pink Dogwood a default in pink and Forget-Me-Not in blue. There is only one sidebar widget, which I won’t use for now because my “Hello Word” page, which is a “Sticky Post” will serve as the “Table of Contents” or a “Sitemap” and provides the “Archives” and “Subscription” links, too. Only five of the most recent posts are displayed. The width of the contents auto-fits for smaller screen resolutions, which reveals a time-stamp from the hover over the date.

  • 20111104-Tweaking Again

First, please delete your email inbox of my old blog entires. I was retagging old posts and editing the status from Private to Publish. That’s all.

Second, I decided to keep everything in my primary weblog site, except the Plinky prompts and Daily Posts. So that means my dreams, prayers and other rants are still here, including the Comments.

All the exported/imported posts have been either “Deleted Permanently” or “Move to Trash”. I keep forgetting to press the “Empty Trash” button feature.

As a result, two of my four weblog sites are currently set to “Private” until I figure out what to do with those sites.

  • 20111103-Tweaking Again

Well, I’ve been tweaking my “Hello World!” and “About” pages and deleted more pages from the LWO weblog site. The import didn’t work; so that’s a sign that I better leave that site as is — informational.

Earlier, I cleaned up more categories and tags. And about one half hour ago, I didn’t realize my primary weblog site was set to “Private”!

I’m not quite finished “tweaking” my weblog. I really want to reduce the LARGE posts under this primary site and dump/export some to the LWO site. But it doesn’t work.

So most of the posts here are rants. Maybe I should reword ALL posts and force each topic to fit one category.

  • Mobile Theme…

After reading my reader feed online, I saw the following WordPress.com blog article on “New Mobile Theme: Minileven” by Dan. No wonder in recent days, the “Mobile Site” looks like the “Full Site” version but only better and friendlier, too!

    “Mobile Options

Awesome! Your theme, Twenty Eleven, is already deemed to be mobile-friendly.

  • New export…

I don’t like this new export tool! It’s a good thing I exported only the categories that apply to my mini-project before WordPress.com messed up how I want to control the data exported. And as expected and since my FILE is too long, I’ve got a “Something went wrong — 503 Error message”!!!

    “Help

This format, which we call WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR, will contain your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags.

    Goshdarnit!

Something has gone wrong with our servers. It’s probably Matt’s fault. We’ve just been notified of the problem. Hopefully this should be fixed ASAP, so kindly reload in a minute and things should be back to normal.”

  • 20111031-Tweaking Again

I’m addicted to blogging! I now have FOUR (4) registered WordPress.com weblog sites! I realize most of my material are RANTS, which is 89% (or a total of 9134 before exporting/importing the other 11% to the other two new sites)!

So I’ll have to review my mind-set and figure out the direction of my path, love and/or life. So far, I see another four more years of “hidden help”. Hehehe!

One blog is for “My Daily Posts” from Plinky.com and dailyposts.wordpress.com.

One blog is for my “dreams, poems, prayers and more”.

The other blog is dead and has to do with “gifting and healing the environment”.

This primary blog, once again, is mixed up — politics, relationships, religion, conspiracy and paranormal! I’m having a difficult time trying to categorized each blog entry. I realize that the overlapping of thoughts, topics, and issues is not good for blogging.

Oh! And I was trying to tweak my blog via the Full Site and I noticed that the right Scrollbar to the Categories section via the “post.php” edit page doesn’t work!!! So I had to sneak back upstairs and leave Maw for a bit with the trick or treaters. But I can hear if there are people/noises, thanks to my EXPENSIVE 32-channel hearing aide!

  • Editing categories…

So I’ve been deleting and editing “Link Categories”. I’m trying to streamline how each Blogroll Links are categorized. Some appear under multiple headings and I don’t like that but that’s for the convenience of the reader. So far both my TBP and LWO are “cleaned-up”. I’ll keep my favorite links as “Yes” for “Visible.” Some links were once under the Blogroll Links and are duplicated under the Posts. So the description to each link are copied over to the posts.

Today we bought eight yards of full cut fabric: Abbey Black (#956) from Calico Corner/Home. Here are some double digit numbers: customer number x11x55x, authorization number 11xxx, reference number xx00x777. Jeni helped us process our order.

En route home ward, the dashboard of Paw’s Mazda Protoge read 36,666 (odometer). We were stopped at a straight line a few blocks from our home.

  • About page…

I’ve deleted two more pages: FAQ and FLYNN. These two pages were combined into the About page. Page one is a short introduction and does not have an image to set it off from the rest of the content. Page two is the FAQ page; while Page three is the FLYNN page. Former pages are in the “frequently asked questions” format. The total number of STATIC pages of this weblog site is now four: Home, About, Contact and Notice.

  • A static page…

Okay. I think I’m temporarily happy with the Twenty-Eleven theme of dark gray background and hot pink fonts.

A few minutes ago, my VERY sleepy mind has come up with a compromise/solution:

    • Set the “About” page as a “FRONT/Home/static page”;
    • Allow the “weekly” Nom-Noms to serve as the “POSTS/Archives/static page”;
    • Set the “About” page as “Showcase Template” for the Ephemera widget of my precious Posts (which were formerly Pages) and Recent posts; and
    • Set the Layout to “Content on left” to allow for the display of “Sidebar” widgets on the right while viewing the “Content” in either the “index/archive” view, not possible in the “single page” view with the Twenty-Eleven theme at this time.

    Voila!

  • 20111026-Tweaking Again

So, I’ve tweaked my “PATHETIC” blog site by trying different themes and color schemes. I came up with dark gray background and pink fonts based on a Premium Theme, which I was tempted to purchase. But since I couldn’t make up my mind and I know that doing multiple refunds is NOT good business practice and downright dishonest/troublesome, I’ll try to keep the Eight theme by Automattic until something prettier comes up (hopefully before the 30 days).

What I noticed with this theme is the glowing Gravatar. When the mouse is placed over the Gravatar (and as long as the Hovercard feature is turned”on”), you will notice a faint glow around the perimeter of the “profile card”. This “glow” is especially noticeable when the background color is dark.

  • 20111026-Tweaking Again

I’ve tweaked and I’ve tweaked and I’ve tweaked so more pages from my “Living with Orgone” site. There are 14 published pages and two private posts. There are no sidebars on this site.

There is definitely something wrong with the Blog Stats: It keeps recording my OWN activities! And there was delay to show 119 views in one day! That was from editing my pages several times! I give up! Something is not right with WordPress.com.

The “Links” page of that orgone site has five of the six links, which can be found in the sidebar widget as “blogroll”, instead of my other Categories, such as “pals” or “links”. It doesn’t make sense to make a long list.

As for my main blog site, the sidebar element almost lines up with the content element (or front/home page). Again, I must strive for keeping my site and entries, short and simple, spic and span, clean and cleaner. Whatever.
