  • 20101027-Trying Theme

    Last night, I kept previewing my paid CSS upgrade for the theme Fusion by digitalnature. I wanted to get more colorful effect of “bubbles” but the fonts wouldn’t behave. I ended up making the “post title h3” a red bubble and the links (i.e “post information”) a green color.

    This morning I’m trying yet another WordPress.com theme:

    A clean, feature-packed, light-gray coloured design with multiple layouts, slick looking search box in the header and a smooth flowing easy to navigate dropdown menu. Read more about zBench →

    So far its got Sidebar-Content-Sidebar as one of five “Theme Options”. Plus, this is yet another monotoned theme, which matches the colors of my “Image widgets”: These feature some of Dante’s illustrations. It doesn’t have my favorite time stamp but it’s okay because I’ll be bored with this theme soon.

  • 20101025-Trying Theme

    After another bout of boredom and switching theme, I’m trying yet another recently added WordPress.com theme:

    Elegant Grunge by Michael Tyson

    An unwashed yet crisp theme with layouts options, support for custom background and header, widget-ready footer, and an optional full-width page template that removes the sidebar. Read more about Elegant Grunge →

    I like this theme for now until I get bored.

    • The footer bar accomodates and auto-adjust for widgets, which is currently my “Blogroll links”.
    • The color is basic black and white, just like my “Image widgets”.
    • The width of the body auto-adjusts to any screen size.
    • The nav bar, blog title and tagline are where they supposed to be up and near the header.
    • Each single-viewed post is followed by the author profile (i.e. Gravatar), navigation links and the meta data, which has my TIME STAMP!

  • 20101013-Trying Theme

    Today is Wednesday the 13th of October. And I’m trying a new WordPress.com theme:

    Spectrum by Ignacio Ricci

    A beautiful and colorful theme that can be further customized with support for custom menus, background and header. It also features a full-width template for showing your images. Read more about Spectrum →

    The first thing that caught my attention was the eye-candy! The background has a rainbow of colors: blue, green, orange, pink, purple, red, silver, white, etc. It’s so fruity and edible!

    The font size is larger than life! It’s so big I could cry!

    The top navigation bar is in reverse order, meaning the “home” button is on the right.

    There are big arrows pointing to each blogroll link.

    The “headers” for the post titles and sidebar are styled inside ribbons of lime-green and silver, respectively.

    The little icons are everywhere: author, tags, categories, comments, prev/next navigations, etc.

    I may have to tweak this theme with my paid CSS upgrade.

  • 20101004-Trying Theme

    I’ve got bored again with my WordPress.com theme. This time I’m trying:

    Wu Wei by Jeff Ngan

    A clean, minimalist, grid-based theme featuring an alternate dark colour scheme, custom background, and custom header.

    Yesterday, the colors were yellow for the background and purple for the header text. The light color scheme was defaulted with font colors of orange and black.

    Tonight, the colors are purple for the background and yellow for the header text. The dark color scheme is defaulted with font colors of blue and white.

    I’ll keep experimenting with the options. After all, I get easily bored!

  • 20100921-Trying Theme

    Bahaha! Have I gone nuts yet? Nope! Why? It’s because I’m trying a new theme here at WordPress.com:

    Fusion by digitalnature

    A flexible theme with a widget-ready footer, custom header image and menu. Layout options include flexible or fluid main column, choice of left or right sidebar, two right sidebars, or a full-width option with no sidebars.

    PROs:

    • Choice between Fixed and Flexible (my choice) widths!
    • Choice between Full Post and Excerpt (my choice); so readers are “forced” to click on the links – READ IT and WEEP!
    • Choice of four layouts: Right Sidebar (my choice), Left Sidebar, Two Right Sidebars, and No Sidebar (Use footer widget area).
    • Choice of uploading header of exactly 980 x 148 pixels. I used the “path.jpg” image.
    • Supports one (1) Theme location, which is the primary navigation for Custom Menus/Links.
    • Supports footer widget area. Using four widgets is recommended by moi.
    • Shows time-stamp on single view of blog/post entry!
    • Features colorful “mouse-overs” (not fly-bys).

  • 20090511-Trying Theme

    For my Flynn’s Orgone weblog site here at WordPress.com, I switched ‘The default WordPress theme complete with customizable header and widgets’ (Kubrick) to Ocean Mist by Ed Merritt.

    Its description is: ‘A blueish two-column theme with a large customizable header, visible post author, and category navigation at the bottom.’ Other feature include ‘custom header, two columns, blue, fixed width, rtl (or right table)’.

    I like this one better because the default header shows a scenic image of clouds and ocean in the background with greenery in the foreground. The header of my former theme was a gradient color of violet to indigo.

  • 20090427-Trying Theme

    Trying new WordPress.COM theme: Spring Loaded by the 449. It’s ‘A fresh, green theme with a clean layout and modern type.’ It has ‘one column, widgets, and page navigation’. As a result, I had to remove to widgets: ‘Search’ and ‘Pages’. The adjectives to describe this new theme are: ‘green, fresh, grass, and spring’.

  • Smiley Faces

    Here are some emoticons (or smiley faces) I found from the WordPress.com article “Smilies“, which doesn’t work in the “Text” widget (“Arbitrary text or HTML”) for the sidebar. I’ve highlighted my alternate interpretations in bold based on human emotions. To share one of these emoticon, highlight/copy a smiley face and paste to your content.

    • 🙁 = Sad / Sadness
    • 😮 = Eek / Excitement
    • 😯 = Shock / Surprise
