• Contact << Support, not working again…

Out of bad habit, I just delete all and any spam without reviewing each one. Most of them are drugs for enlargement and other unwanted deals. I just got tired of reading the contents. And assumed that the Akismet application does a good job with removing spam. I guess I was wrong.

So I’m trying to “ask” the WordPress.com support a simple question: Can you help me retrieve something that was permanantly deleted in ERROR by this particular reader? And this is the message I get from the site:

How can we help?
First, let’s try to narrow down what you’re contacting us about. Please enter a few words that describe your question/issue.

I typed in a few words and it doesn’t move! Perhaps, Matt meister and pals are off to bed and forgot to turn on the ‘Submit’ button! How can y’all help if I can’t find the answers?

So I searched for “spam” on the same contact page and found “http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/”. I gave it a thumbs down, making me unhappy reader number 164! I was hoping to see some ray of hope regarding permanantly deleted comments. But I guess that’s the way it is.

• Spammers “like”…

Askimet does a great job with unwanted spam. But I think it dumped a couple of “false positives”, one permanently deleted a few seconds ago!

As for a particular spammer from [somewhere in America], “it” keeps “liking” my posts. I wonder if Matt meister and pals could include “flag” spammers who “like” posts without thinking.

You have my “authority” to snoop around my posts and find out who keeps doing that recently. It is especially prevalent on my Twitter account, where yet another “reptilian” from the pornographic world has “followed me”.

I’ve been trying WordPress themes again. I like the excerpt feature for the front/home page of the old BizzArt and the new Chateau. But the DigitalNature theme had no sidebars/one column views and my time stamps. I am also preparing to delete one private weblog next month and to export my current work into a stand-by weblog. I got tired of the creepy spooks coming out of the wood works.

• Adding more categories…

I’ve been reviewing popular tags from WordPress.com and adding those into my “categories”. The less popular tags will remain as “tags”.

• Goshdarnit! again…

For the past few days while editing my “tags” and in the past few minutes while editing my posts by clicking on two categories, I would get the following message:

Goshdarnit!

Something has gone wrong with our servers. It’s probably Matt’s fault.

We’ve just been notified of the problem.

Hopefully this should be fixed ASAP, so kindly reload in a minute and things should be back to normal.

Sheer madness, I say! After burning myself out trying to complete my Lenten Season project, I’m back to blogging, just to “cool down” a bit. As a result, I’m switching WordPress.com themes to keep from “being bored again”. The current one is Theme: INove by NeoEase.

I’ve left out the widgets from the sidebar and allowed the theme’s “hard code” take care of that element because this is the only WordPress.com theme that allows for a “Random Post” widget. Also, my “Custom Menu” for the top/global navigation bar now shows only two obvious selections: Post and Pages. Everything else is eye-candy.

Why can’t we just have drop-and-drag hard codes, like Blogger.com (aka BlogSpot.com)? Is that too much to ask? I guess so.

For example:

[Links for “share”, “likes”, “comments” and “edit” can go here.]

[Text goes here: Blah, blah, blah!]

That’s all I wanted! I don’t need fancy elements or appearance. I want a WordPress.com theme that can be “stable” for older internet versions as well as for different screen resolutions!

Make one work for me, now!

I’m trying the latest WordPress.com theme “The Morning After”, which reminded me of morning sickness. Of course, now that I’m over the hill, I’ll never have to worry about that queasy feeling ever! Why? Because I’m childless! Anyway, I’ve left the widgets to its default setting; so the appearance of these widgets will look different between “page” and “post” views. The “Header Links” look clean with a wider search form and five links: home, about, archives, subscribe and contact.

Ugh! I cannot figure out how to view multiple blogs in the index pages. I see now that I have to click the sidebar widget called “Archives”.

I’m trying the newest WordPress.com: “Liquorice by Nudge Design”. So far, with the large font size and “Georgia” font style and with my favorite color scheme of parchment brown with complementary colors of red ocre and blue foam, reading is easier on the eyes. One cannot miss the humongous font size of the blockquotes!

The content is ideally located to the left of the sidebar, which has a simple default of only two widgets — a search form and blogroll links alphabetically sorted. As for the top navigation bag, I like how the thin borders gives a recessed appearance in 3-D. And the simple, the better: the “custom menu” used for my weblog is similar to the display version on mobile browsers of old cellphones: Archives, Pages and Blog, which I deliberately set as a “page” instead of as a front page of the latest post entries.

Today, I’m trying the newest WordPress.com Theme: Choco by .css{mayo}. There are three colors: brown/orange (default); gray/yellow; and black/red. I’m using the default color. It’s a fixed width and the contents are to the left of the side to the right. There is no TIME stamp for my weblog. And the images are aligned to the left.

Out of frustration and boredom again, I switched WordPress.com themes from Sandbox 1.6.2 to Steira by Made by Elephant, which as my Mosque Blue color scheme of basic gray, white and blue.

That night, I was typing the EW website address but entered .net. What I saw was a mostly purple and blue site with a service for “healing” the suckers, err, I meant seekers of alternative health solutions for mind, body and spirit. Of course, anything purple and pink denote some sort of New Age movement, much like my bowels and certain books that ring true to me of love and light.

I like the VERY simplistic site: contents on the left and sidebar on the right. There were few pages. And compared to that site, mine is a monster. By rendering my front page as a static page, readership via the seach engines online will be reduced. Again, I prefer the static page layouts. But since the themes are limited as far as hard coding, I really would have preferred the TIME stamps for the blog portion of my site.
