20221017-1438. I changed the reading settings from static pages to Your latest posts, which makes more sense because I’m just blogging about random stuff since 2006 and I’m NOT in the business of making money on “static pages”.
The two starter “posts” are the Hello World under the posts section and the “Home” page under the page section.
When using “static pages”, the system automatically generates a “Front page” assigned to Homepage and a “Blog” page assigned to Post page.
So far, there should be five “posts” automatically generated by the system when switching reading settings:
- Hello World
- Home
- Privacy Policy
- Front page
- Blog
That’s all the “post” pages that I would “recommend” for starters.
And the rest of the time is creating or writing new “posts” for your personal blog or online diary entries.
For the header, I’ve chosen the block base linear and modeled the “site tagline” after the default paragraphs found under either the Hello World post or the Home post.
The header is modeled after the mirror site of my favorite daily messenger: site logo (none), site name, site tagline, and navigation menu (none).
The header is responsive for Desktops, Tablets, and Phones. I have to preview each device and noticed that the size defaults for the typography is fine as-is. Anything larger than X-Large won’t look good on the Phone previews.
The footer remains the same with my KJV randomizer button; my two social media accounts, and my copyrighted messages. The footer is the same for all my other mirror sites.
The query loop (or meat and potatoes of a site) has changed from excerpts only to full summary for both front/home page and any “feed”:- I don’t know if this affects any news feed/readers or rss or atoms.
Under the Post Template, I must have my favorite Pagination element. The labels for Previous page is edited as Newer Posts and Next page is edited as Older Posts. This is easier for me to understand.
For the Blog page, the query loop contains the post excerpt instead of the post content, which is shown in full summary mode.
For the Home page, the cover image follows the featured image above.
For the Front page, I used a pattern called “pricing table” and labeled those as Blog, Bible, and Sites. It’s simple.
For the Privacy policy page, that’s needed for when sites allow comments.
Other than that, everything else seems okay for now. I’m keeping the dark background and light text.
That’s all. FlynnsPaws.
