  • Am I finished tweaking the appearance of my blog?

    20221004-1135. I don’t think I’m neither finished nor will ever stop tweaking the appearance of my blog due to AMP incompatibility and the like.

    I’ve been sampling OLD and installing NEW themes but I simple couldn’t make those work due to HUGE graphics and other animated stuff.

    So I reverted back to Blank Canvas theme by team Automattic.

    I was using the Safari browser but kept getting error messages. Now I’m using the Brave browser and stuff stopped jumping around and there were no pauses, freezes, or error messages.

    I had to review all the Editor > Templates and Editor > Template Parts, cleared all customizations and started over.

    For some strange reason, the Site > Editor theme has been forcing me to use “Footer Only” as this is probably a sleight-of-hand trick or gentle nudges that my blog is mostly offensive rants and that I should instead use excerpts and images to distract from my personal diary material.

    So the default Editor > Site included:

    • one “Post Content block” with a “Cover block” which sports my HUGE Site Logo from Fiverr.com and a “Paragraph block” which has my simple Welcome message; and
    • one “Footer block” which has my customized three “Column blocks” and one “Paragraph” block for my generic creator credit.

    Within each of the three columns blocks, I have three column blocks, which had its own “Header block” and “List block”?

    See? Voila!

    To recap, here is my sample List View from the left sidebar panel:

    • Post Content
      • Group
        • Cover
          • Spacer
          • Site Logo
        • Paragraph
    • Query Loop
      • Post Template
        • Group
          • Post Title
          • Post Excerpt
          • Post Date
      • Pagination
        • Previous Page
        • Page Numbers
        • Next Page
    • Footer
      • Columns
        • Column
          • Group
            • Paragraph
          • Buttons
            • Button
        • Column
          • NEW testament
          • List
            • List item
        • Column
          • OLD testment
          • List
            • List item
      • Columns (2nd) duplicate below
      • Columns (3rd) duplicate below
      • Paragraph

    That’s all. FlynnsPaws.

  • Has tweaked six sites! Yay!

    20221001-1224. Happy October! It’s sunny AND cold! I love it!

    Anyways, this morning I awoke early, used the toilet, drank a glass of water, got dressed and was ready to tweak my blogs! I just now finished tweaking six sites!

    One is this primary site good for ten years (renewed ahead of time). The other five are mirrors showing my prized Randomized King James Bible verses. I have NOT yet tested if this stuff still works after tweaking the sites.

    All five sites contain its own 66 books and something like 31,106 verses. Only FlynnsBlogs.com remains as the only site without these files and is linked up to FlynnsAngels.com

    All five sites use the Blank Canvas theme by team Automattic but in different colors. This site uses the Seedlet (Blocks) theme by team Automattic.

    Once again, I had to revert back to a more minimal and stable theme due to yesterdays offline errors; since I’m NOT really managing stuff like web masters.

    I had to remove the embedded stuff because it’s NOT showing up on the front/homepage feed.

    That’s all. FlynnsPaws.

  • Still tweaking my copyright paragraph!

    20220928-2237. I still can-NOT “feel” the correct wording to describe the copyright paragraph located in the Footer below. I’ve been modeling the wordings by Automattic but I need something more personalized.

    A searched online for the word definitions of “free-writing” and incorporated that into my paragraph. A few minutes ago I searched for the difference between amateur blogs and professional blogs.

    From Free-writing reactions to blogging responses since 2006, I’ve found something that felt sufficient enough to clarify on the front/home page, heck, on every page what this site is all about: © FlynnsPaws. Amateur blogger, free-writing since 2006. Thanks for visiting!

    I thinking I’m a happy blogger again.

    That’s all. FlynnsPaws.

    Behold! I’m smart! After I coded the CSS stylesheet to display content into the entry element, I noticed that this navigation code also affected the left code in the footer element.

    So a few minutes ago, I used my big brain and the inspiration came forth to my small mind: Thusly, I entered the last three codes to make the ‘default’ stuff in the footer element ‘disappear’, except for my self-aggrandizing copyrighted crap.

    [code language=”css”]
    .postnav, .left:before {
    content: "Previous/Older ‹";
    }

    .postnav, .right:after {
    content: "› Next/Newer";
    }

    footer .left:before {display:none;}

    footer .left:after {
    content: ‘© Copyright 2001-2016 FlynnsPaws’;
    }

    footer .left a {display:none;}[/code]

  • 20160411-2250-Tweaked

    About one hour ago, I’ve added the last two codes into my CSS stylesheet:

    [code language=”css”]
    footer .left a {
    display: none;
    }

    #footer-wrap {
    background-color: inherit;
    }

    footer .left:after {
    content: ‘© Copyright 2001-2016 FlynnsPaws’;
    }

    .postnav, .left:before {content:"Previous/Older ‹";}

    .postnav, .right:after {content:"› Next/Newer";}[/code]

    The ‘text’ is supposed to help the readers view either the next or previous post. Frankly, I can’t tell which direction I should click without this ‘text’.

    Me smart!

    Okay, well, I’ve been bored again and customized the Colors & Backgrounds. As Madame Mews mentioned, she saw purplish, pinkish, and plum colors. This was made possible with the ‘Match header image’ color generator. I liked the colors.

    However, I do recall John Jr mentioning something about the colors and Madame Mews preferring the darker fonts against the lighter background. Plus, I wanted to use the ‘official WordPress color palette’.

    So I clicked the ‘default’ button to the Opti color scheme and customized the colors as follows, using symbolic combinations of ‘evil’ numerology:

    • Text Color, Headings #000000 black
    • Links #d54e21 blue
    • Header, Footer #464646 gray
    • Site Title, Site Description, Header/Footer Links #21759b orange
    • Background #f6f6f6 white

    I removed the background image due the consideration of faster loading and I reduced the sizes of the avatars found in the widgets. I’ll just let the header image featuring Nyan Cat provide the eye candy for Madame Mews.

    This is the best I could do to compromise suggestions by three bully heads. Customization subject to change, of course. Sheesh.

    Voila! I think Evil Kitty is happy with Flynn’s weblog. This time it’s full of pink and rainbow colors! And Nyan Cat makes her appearance!

    Without the great suggestions by John Jr and Madame Mews, this freaking weblog would NOT have made it this far.

    A few minutes ago, I barely recall what John Jr suggested about keeping the list to at least five items.

    So for ‘Blog pages show at most 5 posts’ and ‘Syndication feeds show the most recent 5 items’, each are five items.

    However, ‘For each article in a feed, show ‘Summary’, though John Jr suggested ‘Full text’.

    As for the ‘Site Visibility’: Allow search engines to index this site. I would have preferred ‘Discourage search engines from indexing this site’ or ‘I would like my site to be private, visible only to myself and users I choose’.

    The alignment of five post views with the left and right side bars is perfect from my laptop monitor. The four footer bars, too, are aligned perfectly, almost.

    And so I’ll keep it for awhile as such until bored.

  • 20160410-2302-Tweaked

    For the sake of Madame Mews and John Jr and the debacle with the inability to check-off the two boxes for comments and posts via email of The Rowling Theme, I’ve switched back to my purchased theme: Opti. But… this time, I used my brain! That’s correct!

    I’ve added a suggested background image, which looks like stainglass with designs of a ‘crucifix’ (being that I’m ‘religious’) and which has the rainbow-colored effect (being that I respect the freaks, err, LQBTQI). I had to set that background image to ‘center’ and ‘repeat’.

    Next, I’ve tweaked the colors. Once again, I’ve borrowed the WordPress ‘default’ colors of blue (for the ‘Text Color, Headings’), orange (for the ‘Links’), and black (for ‘Header, Footer’).

    But I didn’t think. And until a few minutes ago, I discovered that I could have used PINK for the background color! Then after taking the default orange color, I stuck a darker orange for ‘Site Title, Site Description, Header/Footer Links’.

    Then, I took an old Nyan Cat image (courtesy from Madame Mews) and placed that sucker into the Header Position of ‘Below Navigation (default)’, which looks better than ‘In Header’. AND the Theme Option allowed for Display Header Image on either in Homepage or All pages.

    Voila! Now Evil Kitty is barely satisfied. Eh.

  • 20160409-1823-Tweaked

    I’m trying the latest free WordPress theme: The Rowling Theme.

    I’m using the a ‘Featured’ color Palette of mostly pinkish tones. (Or is that hues, as in ‘yuge’?)

    The footer has a site-copyright. I may add my ‘flynnspaws’ to the site title.

    I like how the front pages displays only the links, no excerpts either.

    There is only one sidebar and that’s okay.

    However, the post format is only standard and gallery and that’s boring.

    Below is my CSS stylesheet code:

    [code language=”css”].site-footer .attribution {display:none;}[/code]

  • 20160407-1707-Tweaked

    Well, okay, I switched back to my paid Premium Theme Opti and customized the CSS Stylesheet as follows:

    [code language=”css”]footer .left a {display:none;}

    #footer-wrap {background-color:#000;}

    footer .left:after {content:’© Copyright 2001-2016 FlynnsPaws’;}[/code]

    I customized the colors, too.

  • 20150405-1801-Tweaked

    Well, I switched theme again to The Bushwick and tweaked the following CC stylesheet:

    [code language=”css”].site-header .site-title, .site-header .site-description {text-shadow: none; color:black; text-align:center;}[/code]

  • 20160403-2243-Tweaked

    After viewing John Jr’s annoying suggestions for my widgets, my widgets are reduced to eight – Search, Calendar, My Community, Recent Comments, Top Posts & Pages, Askimet Widget, Blog Stats, and Internet Defense League. Some of the other widgets are embedded as shortcodes into Static Pages.

    Furthermore, I’ve tweaked my CSS Stylesheet as follows:

    [code language=”css”].site-header {
    text-align: center;
    }

    #infinite-footer, .site footer {display:none; height:0px}

    body:after {
    content: "© Copyright 2001-2016 ‘FlynnsPaws’";
    }[/code]

    Moreover, I’ve further customized the colors to basic dark (464646) for the background and basic fuschia (ff00ff) for the font.
