  • 20100313-Heart Forum

    My parents and I attended the `Heart Forum` – A special symposium on state-of the-heart cardiovascular care on Saturday, March 13, 2010, 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – where we learned:

“about the latest advancements in cardiovascular medicine from nationally respected, board-certified leaders in the field. Each lecture will be 20 minutes long, followed by a question and answer session.”

This event was hosted by `The Heart & Vascular Institute at El Camino Hospital`.

“The Heart & Vascular Institute at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View is the area’s only truly comprehensive program, offering advanced services at every stage of care, from diagnosis to treatment to rehabilitation. We specialize in multidisciplinary hybrid procedures, and our physicians are known for pioneering new treatments and devices. Our outstanding outcomes and quality of care have earned us awards, accolades, and professional certifications.”

Here are the profiles to each lecturer:

In summary, I’ve learned that less invasive surgery helps the patients to recover better and might improve benefits of life.

To Obama and pals: Technological innovation is possible in non-profit organizations – 503(c) – such as ECH (El Camino Hospital). Please take into consideration the impact of your health care insurance reform bill upon the medical community. Your fellow brothers cannot predict the outcome of your decisions. I would encourage each citizen to contact their representatives.

  • 20100220-More Spooks

After working at my workstation upstairs, I ran downstairs and found a bag of ten oranges. The foodstuff was given by a `Frank`, who was a World War Two veteran. He had picked those fruits from his backyard. Maw gave him $2.00 for his offer price of $1.00. This event was earlier that morning.

I have blogged about `Frank’s` unexpected visit years ago. That bag contained oranges, too.

Here is a couple of photos taken right after my discovery. The second photos shows ten big oranges. The first photo shows the white-colored, plastic bag, which reads:

  • 20091222-Processed Fast

At around 17:30pm, we arrived at the E.R. and in about 2 hours and 11 minutes we left. It was Maw’s headache coupled with high blood pressure of over 200. The techs, nurses and one doctor were great. I believe this is primarily because of good health insurance – one primary and one secondary.

This was the first time we tried the newly renovated place. I got lost at the old location and had to follow the signs with its arrows pointing back to the front of the building, making a full counter-clockwise travel around the block.

The inside was nice but `off-centered`. Most of the waiting area was to the `left` while the processing units are to the `right`. The double door leading to the rooms were to the right of a large counter where one security guard was working. Some people had masks; some didn’t.

While waiting for Maw’s processing, I tried to get comfortable and unloaded two handbags, two hats and scarves and one jacket onto one of many chairs. There was no way to change the channel to one of the three large screen televisions and I ended up wandering around a bit for circulation.

For the first time, we got to wear masks, too! The guy told us it’s for OUR protection against sick people who were waiting in the back. I thought wearing a protective mask made me look like a surgeon. It was quite breathable.

Earlier, I noticed that the first street light closest to the emergency entrance blinked off upon my intersection. Later, it blinked off again when I went to get the car. But as we drove off from the lobby and into the night, I noticed that it blinked off at a steady rate.

We ate dinner, stuffed my stomach full of home-cooked food to stop the tummy ache I had while drinking bottled water at the E.R., tucked Maw into bed and are now relaxing for what would hopefully be another blessing at night.

  • 20091206-Guitaring Vets

After shopping at the DeCA in Moffett Field, CA, we heard three guitarists playing Filipino music. They are called `FilAm Vets Rondalla`. Paw donated one dollar in their plastic jar.

“All proceeds will go to ABS-CBN Foundation.“

We loaded the Mercedes Benz E430 with our grocery, which for the first time was paid twice by Paw’s two ATM/Debit card! He pressed the pen on the keypads rather roughly, with his right hand shaking all the way.

Maw wanted to speech with the threesome and we learned that they were going to attend our local church during the nine-days of “Simbang Gabi“. Maw offered donations for their appearances.

Here are two of three photos taken after coming down the ramp of the grocery store:

  • 20091201-Prayer Journal

Here are two scanned images showing three pages of prayers from my birthday card, which was given by my parents:

    [slideshow]

    Dear Lyn,

A Birthday Prayer For You Daughter:

    ” ‘The Lord bless you…

May He bless you with everything that is good and wonderful, with daily strength, and everlasting yous.

    and keep you…

May He keep you safe and protect you in your goings and comings, and may you be kept for every special thing He desires to bring into your life.

the Lord make His face shine upon you…

May He always smile upon you, and may His presence be your daily reward.

    and be gracious to you…

May you be blessed with the beauty of His grace, and may His favor be over you and upon you.

the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.’ “

May His peace fill your life and guard your heart, and may His love keep you in all your ways.

With love to you and for you on your birthday and always.

  • 20091104-Gradient Background

Yippie! I’ve uploaded a gradient image that was generated online after doing a general search online. Then I’ve edited the `body` element of my paid Custom CSS upgrade. The background now shows the lightest color (Pale Weak Blue) on top through the darkest color (Obviously Weak Blue) on the bottom.

Here are samples of my purple, gradient background:

  • 20091104-Tweaking Again

Yippie! I’ve used the Microsoft ® Paint (Version 5.1) to create a .jpg image of a `Quote` against a dark gray background and then uploaded this new image via `media-new.php`. With my paid Custom CSS upgrade, I’ve edited the `blockquote` element to include this `Quote` image.

Here are several samples of my modified images for the `blockquote` via Microsoft Paint:

You may check out the Dorkboy page to see this new blockquote feature by clicking a Shareapic.net photo taken by DB. It shows a sun with pink concentric ring and can be found on the sidebar of the`Image widget` labeled `Dorkboy`.

My purpose is to make sure to give proper `credit` for any quotes from external sources and links, if provided. Just like the 3-D, hover over, push button effect for my links (see sidebar), I got this quote idea from one of the free themes here at WordPress.com:

  • 20091101-Maw’s Creations

What has your mother done for you lately? Here are images showing my mother’s sewing creations. Most are vests, jackets and blankets made out of fleece. There are gabardine pants and jackets, too. Three are covers for the cage of the parakeets. Two are redesigned covers for the sofa (eight pieces in total). One is a suede vest with polyester lining. Two shirts are decorative eyelets. One is a gingham blanket of left over materials formed into square shapes. There is one photo showing a project in progress and another one showing Maw’s hardworking hands.
