Describing my immediate surroundings towards the beginning and a twist to the tale or possible solutions to issues towards the end of some blogs and how they relate to my expectations of the world at large.

  • Moving a Blog…

    I just read a Support article (Last modified: October 7, 2011) and got the following message:

    Howdy, this tool is temporarily disabled. Check back in a few days and we’ll have it all back to normal.

    I wanted to Move a Blog to a Private Blog. Hmmm.

  • Using Zemanta…

    After reducing the clutter of my categories to just one tag “Uncategorized“, I’ve been using the Zemanta tagging feature, which recommends tags based on the analysis of the text. The more I enter text into the content, the better the recommendation. If the content is too short, the Zemanta tagging feature doesn’t work and it only works when blogging through the “Visual” tab and not the “HTML” tag.

    The “Recommended Tags” popped up when I typed the words “Visual” and I clicked the “Apply all” link. Why? Prior to using the Zemanta tagging feature, I had to “guess” which word combination worked best for my topic and I stuck to only ONE WORD, starting with a lower case. I studied the popular tags on WordPress and chose the ones that I liked and found that no one really re/searches “categories” or “tags”.

    Tonight and out of inspiration from John Jr, I converted my “popular” categories (in lower case) to tags and started using Zemanta to “see” how my blogging experience improves, which it should because new “Recommended Tags” keep appearing! Unfortunately, the Zemanta tagging feature is not available on WordPress for Android. I had submitted a “request” to the Support team on this issue.

    So far MOST of my ideas/suggestion have manifested quite a bit but without proper credit or freebees and not even a mug or T-shirt, except maybe a coupon and that was about it. Whatever. Brouhaha!

  • Shortening categories…

    I should shorten the list of categories to include only the “top” three: dreams, Uncategorized and poetry. The Uncategorized is mostly blogs, rants and opposite to that of poetry. The rest could be set as tags. I don’t think people actually re/search weblogs by visiting tag/categories. I noticed that the searches are done through words and/or online.

  • 20111009-Trying Theme

    Ack! I been switching themes again! One theme — Twenty-Eleven alsmot had all my elements. But it lacked two templates for “Archives” and “Links”. Plus, I needed the index page to my posts to reflect the meta data, meaning a text of the time/date stamp, which could be found in a “Sandbox” theme. So my current theme has taken on a nice purple color — dark purple for the header and light pink for the background. I guess I should be happy for now. 🙁 🙂

  • Less published pages…

    In an effort to reduce my pages (its history and my headaches), I am down to eighteen published pages. There really should be only four PARENT pages, which are in upper case/capital letters and are part of my global/top/main navigation/bar/menu: POSTS, PAGES, ARCHIVES, and LINKS.

    The last two templates (thanks to the theme designer) really encouraged/helped me to reduce the clutter of my bottom/sidebar widgets and extra pages, which no one or myself would have the time to read.

    So the fifth PARENT page has nine children and four grandchildren, which are TOO long to combine with any of the children pages.

    As such, the Pages, Archives, and Links look cleaner and better under Mobile Site as long as the “content” for both templates are kept be blank/clean.

  • Header images…

    Today is yet another lazy day of being un/deremployed. Taking a break for a while can be quite boring and unproductive. Had it not been for blogging, I’m already insane.

    Here is a slideshow and/or gallery of 24 customized header images that I’m using for my personal blog: Courtesy of John Jr.

    I like the black and white images because these “gray scales” (not green reptilians) go well with my BLACK background and RED fonts.

  • Quantity or quality writing?

    I strive for quantity. The more blog entries I publish, the more I hope my blog stats increases. This leaves me with a sense of personal accomplishment even if I may never know who or what is really reading my blogs.

    As for quality, I care not for how my blogs are published. There are too many thoughts and too little time to blog and as such a few errors are made here and there. If I could be my own editor, I would hire myself full time to review ALL published post and consolidate the most commonly occurring themes and elements and create one jumbo article, along with references to more “professional” sources of academia, journalism, science and other expertise on subjects that interest me.

    So while I would like to participate in the “nano-nano” whatever project. I just don’t have the time or understanding of what I’m supposed to do or how to approach this project in one month. So far, my daily blogs are the same — numbers, people, nature and other social, economic and political issues. I guess that’s all I could share for now. Perhaps, I’ll reconsider taking on the NaNoWriMo and figure out how to best use my mind.

    How about you? Do you leave things unwritten because you don’t feel like you have the time to perfect them? Would you consider setting up a private blog (perhaps using the p2 theme, which is great for quick updates) to capture the rough-draft ideas that you’re not keen on publishing but would like to preserve? I’m thinking of doing just that. Do you find that writing just to write leads you ultimately to write better or just to write more? And finally, are you willing to fess up to participating in NaNoWriMo?

  • Bearing no fruits…

    Uh, oh! I just came across a weblogger’s article when I saw that word “sterilization”. And a thought came to mind as to why the twosome is still childless.They submitted themselves unto the system and got their injections as part of the “requirements” for being married.

    After three years of marriage, I wonder if they really did NOT want children or didn’t try hard enough. I don’t understand. Usually bearing children should follow being married. I guess it wasn’t meant to be on account the boy emphasized that they REALLY needed to get married because he felt the girl was getting angry for not having children.

    “It’s up to him, if he wants children. If only he stops spending too much on himself, I won’t make children for him. I wished I were single again. But I’ll try hard to keep the marriage.” ~Said the girl to me in an open and honest revelation.

    “All you think about is grandchildren!” ~Said the boy to his OLD family.

    Yikes! Oh, well…

  • 20111004-Trying Theme

    Beside being bored the whole day and stayed upstairs in the computer room blogging, I went back to the Twenty-Eleven theme and made the same/following changes:

    • Set “Contents” page as “front/home” page and “Blog” page as “post” page;
    • Used “Showcase Template” for “Contents” page with “Ephemera” widget in “Showcase Sidebar”;
    • Added “Static” widgets on “Footer Area One” and widgets that update on “Footer Area Two”;
    • Added “Links” and “Ephmera” widgets on “Main sidebar”;
    • Changed “Content Layout” from “One-column, no sidebar” to “Content on left”; and
    • Forced myself to be happy with appearance of my weblog site. Aack!
  • 20111004-Noticing Numbers

    It’s 08:44PM and I see:

  • Ten writing tricks…

    1. Reward Yourself For Trying: I want to give myself lots of stars, just like I recall doing when I was in kindergarten. There was a chart on a wall near the door to the classroom. The chart had our names on the left hand column. After reading a book and writing a book report, the student is given a star of various colors. My row of stars went ALL THE WAY to the right. Everyone else didn’t care to fill their rows with stars.

    2. Don’t Place A Goal On When You’ll Receive Your Worth: Everyday I am worthy enough to blog. My goal is to make a perfect blog. But I don’t know HTML codes and cannot afford a self-hosted blog site.

    3. Be Flexible With Your Writing Schedule: I used to be flexible. Now my bones creak as do my fingers which are not as fast on the keyboard.

    4. Don’t Self-punish: Actually, I am VERY patient after eleven slong years of putting up with the likes of TPTB and pals. So with blogging, I do punish others. My only self-punishment is internalized and expressed through various themes.

    5. Don’t Overwork Yourself: Actually, I am VERY underworked and found tweaking the appearance of my blog my current work. To date I need a job to keep from being un/deremployed and money would help so I could purchase a nice Premium Theme.

    6. Follow The Inspiration: Oh! I have lots of inspiration. If only I could remember those stray thoughts, those would become part of my blog. But since age and time is upon me, the laziness and slowness creeps into my mind, causing me to sleep and dream of a better tomorrow.

    7. Work Through Emotions: I am emotional and take things VERY personally. Not a day goes by when I feel down or let things bother me to the point that number six of inspiration becomes a reality into my blog.

    8. Avoid a “Me vs. The World” Strategy for Motivation: Oh! Come on! Can’t you see how my examples of pity is meant to inspire others to get a life? This blog is all about me. The world is against me. Only a few would know the world and me work in tandem.

    9. Instead Use a “Me Together With The World” Strategy for Motivation: If I continue to deny reality as it is, there would be none of my blog. Number eight is the catalyst that inspires the blogger in me to make noise and hopefully harmoney would be the utlimate result out of chaos, not that it has anything to do with the NWO.

    10. Write: I think I’m right; therefore, I write. So any open and honest criticism is welcome. But I’m right in the end.

    How do you motivate yourself on a day-to-day basis to reach your goals? When something comes up and if I have internet connection, I blog. Notes are taken instead.

    Any tips you’d like to share? Be honest and let it rip! Don’t hold back on your free speech right! Let the whole world know you are NOT normal! Be real!

  • 20111004-Trying Theme

    I was switching themes again and got the following message:

    “You are not authorized to use that theme.”

    That wasn’t the only time I got that message. It must be a sign or something telling me to stop trying different WordPress.com themes. Hmmm.
