Day 21: Write about your best friend (not significant other) and what makes them special.
My best friend is invisible. That’s right! That friend is imaginary and I’ve created “him” from my mind. Therefore, my best friend is my own inner voice that gets mad at me, puts me in place, and makes me think and ask questions, which cannot be fully answered or satisfied entirely.
“He” is my worse enemy, a comforter and someone who makes me laugh. This “best friend” can be critical, sarcastic, loving and even emotionally vindictive to the point of getting angry. “He” knows how to get on my nerves and knows how to sooth my worries away.
“He” is always observing my activities and reminds me to be mindful of my thoughts, actions and deed. It’s almost as if “he” is my teacher without lecturing, although my imagination does create lots of inner conversation that seems to go nowhere.
Am I nuts? Nope! Tell me if your best friend can stay with you for these many years with your bad habits, bad breath and odors and bad attitude and not go nuts at your imaginary perfection — you. That being said, my best friend is really me!
