  • 20080918-Old Theme

Okay, I couldn’t help myself and went back to the ‘Quentin’ theme for free here at WordPress.COM. I tried to get used to the new ‘DePo Masthead’ theme and added the nice ‘reddish background of swirls and flowers but missed the big fonts and all the other features from this current theme of rustic browns. So once again, I’ve made more adjustments to the width and set that to 750 pixels. The auto feature stretched the words within the ‘contents’ too wide. I couldn’t figure out why there was this yellow line hanging out to the right of the ‘rap’ section and found the answer could be remedied by setting the float from ‘left’ to ‘right’. In addition, I’ve decided to add more text from my ‘blogroll’ and photos for the DB books and products, which includes the working links back to his weblog site. I’m being a booger and don’t know how many times I’ve switched themes just to make everything appear perfect. I do hope this one will last for awhile.

  • 20080918-Speed Save

An open letter to ‘Mike’, ‘George’, ‘Condi’ and ‘Robin’ meant to humor y’all.

    Greetings:

Could y’all please speed things up a bit? The very expensive, red tape is long and overdue! I have some people to take care of over here at the home front and they are starving to the point of being homeless but not hopeless, of mostly being nasty and some being nice, though thankful. I didn’t wait over eight slong years for my personal ‘war’ with each of your agents, who continue to drag my patience towards to the next ‘damn tool’, whoever he/she/it may be for all of us. I will not ‘be nice’ and put up with more deceits, betrayals, lies or whatever transparency y’all happen to create out of thin air. This decision is not voluntary. I did not take up my place to be fooled any longer. I am prepared to make some stinky, smelly ‘poop’ as soon as my organic milk works its wonders on my digestive system.

    Sincerely,
    Evil Kitty

  • 20080918-Rolling Overs

I hate you guys! The volunteers over at the WordPress.COM forum are sneaky. They knew the codes to create perfect hover (or mouse-over) images. But all they did was post some dummy hints for the rest of us bloggers. We don’t know where to begin. So I did lots of online research yesterday after reading their futile responses to a couple of threads on rollover images.

I found only one website that helped me. I found out a few minutes ago that both the ‘width’ and ‘height’ of the hover image ‘below’ must be resized exactly to match the dimentions of the first image ‘above’. Also, both the CSS stylesheet section (via the Design > Edit CSS) and the HTML tab (via the Write > Post) must be filled out with the same dimensions for both ‘width’ and ‘height’.

My first hover image could be found on the ‘Home’ page. I wanted both the ‘above’ image of brown and the ‘below’ image’ of black to match. Earlier, I had a larger dimension of 600 pixels (width) by 665 pixels (height). And the ‘below’ image only showed the upper left hand corner of the ‘black’ image. There are other versions out there whereby the hover images ‘below’ zoom out. Some ‘below’ images zoom out and push the surrounding text aside. I have yet to learn how to mess around with these visual features.

I found out a few minutes ago that the hover image works well for the captions, too. The ‘nasty nesting’ for the HTML portion (via Write > Post) is in this order: caption — div class — a — generic text goes here –/a — /div — /caption. It’s important to find the ‘div’ codes for the CSS stylesheet to make the ‘html’ work for the posts (or pages).

  • 20080917-First Install

This ‘famous 5-minute installation, setting up WordPress’ was not simple! I went through the documentations and couldn’t figure out which of the methods to use. I’m not that smart! After one-week of wondering why I got logged out of my Cpanel, after calling in for security verification yesterday afternoon, and after installing my new WordPress site, I still don’t know what I’m doing! I’ve gotten my email containing my Admin Panel, Admin Username and Admin Password; so this means I did something right. Click here to read more…

“…we would also like to thank you for your patience and cooperation during this process” (E.B. via EW)

Well, these faceless entities are doing their jobs to make our lives more difficult. There are more voice prompts from soulless robots and less customer service from real people. Some are fat banksters and uncaring businessmen who work with the authorities and government. You name it: All the ‘alphabet soup’ agencies are in it together. This is ultimate unity in its vile form — all for one and one for all. There is no escape from the ‘status quo’. There won’t be change here for a long time. I know: It’s hard to play nice because they are ‘bad associations’ (as per some articles by DC via the EW websites). And y’all know too why I’ve been ranting and raving after all these eight slong years.

But they have to keep quiet and go along even though they know it’s all wrong. It’s hard work (as per GWB). Besides the fear of losing their own lives, they continue to participate just to be on the payroll. We are the bottom — the useless eaters. While they are at the top — the greedy eyeballs. We get hurt and they don’t care. We could whine and complain and FILE SUIT (if necessary), which works but at a price of expenses to lawyers, loss wages, emotional strain on self and family. But that’s how the levels work — the endless red tapes. It takes a long time for any justice to be served. I know: It is part of the process. It’s not wise to let them get away with so much. It’s not worth the fight, though.

Although there are proper channels to get things done for the victims of the scheme of things, it’s all a smoke screen. Each level has to put up a good word for the meantime while the truth gets buried under tons of lack of recollection, shredded papers, deleted emails and phone messages. I know: It’s how business is run. In the business world, each person below serves ‘the boss’, whose only interest is self-serving. ‘The bosses’ have their own lawyers and top people for protection. The H/R department acts like a therapist with little power. The only defense for those working for ‘their bosses’ is the advocacy groups, such as the NAACP, ACLU, etc. And perhaps a little whistleblowing would probably speed up the process faster. But we know that eventually disappears from blowing lots noise into thin air.

  • 20080907-Which Faith

[Flynn’s Editorial: I feel that Barack Obama is lying to the public. He is intentionally hiding his religious affiliation. My understanding is that once a person is born into the Muslim faith he is a Muslim forever. I also think he `changed` his religion into `Christianity` just to marry Michelle, who is supposed to be a `Christian`.]

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Sen. Barack Obama’s foes seized Sunday upon a brief slip of the tongue, when the Democratic presidential nominee was outlining his Christianity but accidentally said, “my Muslim faith.”

My Christian faith,” Mr. Obama said quickly. “Well, what I’m saying is that he hasn’t suggested that I’m a Muslim. And I think that his campaign’s upper echelons have not, either. What I think is fair to say is that, coming out of the Republican camp, there have been efforts to suggest that perhaps I’m not who I say I am when it comes to my faith — something which I find deeply offensive, and that has been going on for a pretty long time.”

Asked to comment on the accidental misstatement illustrating the difficulty of the issue, Obama spokesman Bill Burton offered this comment: “I’m not surprised that the only outlet doing this story is The Washington Times.”

  • 20080910-Remove Rangel

[Flynn’s Editorial: I cannot believe that one of U.S. representative would not pay tax, get caught for lying about taxable income and not get jailed; while the rest of the American citizens get penalized and jailed for the same if not lesser offense!]

Pelosi: Rangel won’t be forced aside

Hoping to put the Democrats’ “culture of corruption” argument to work for themselves, House Republicans on Tuesday called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to remove Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-N.Y.) from his post as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Rangel has been battered by a series of recent stories questioning his use of rent-stabilized apartments in Harlem as well as his efforts to raise money for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at the City College of New York. And last week, the New York Post reported that Rangel had failed to declare $75,000 in rental income from a vacation home he owns in the Dominican Republic.

Rangel has tried to pre-empt a crisis by asking the ethics committee to investigate the allegations leveled against him. But the panel lost its chairwoman when Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Ohio) died last month, and Pelosi has declined to name a replacement until the House can hold a memorial service.

  • 20070209-Old Joe

[Flynn’s Editorial: I feel that Joe Biden says whatever is on his mind and how people seem to infiltrate certain parts of the American society. And because he is so old, no one could stop him for telling the truth about people, no matter how offensive to some sensitive ears.]

I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Biden said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” (Watch Biden’s comments and Obama’s reaction )

Biden has made other questionable comments. In a June 2006 appearance in New Hampshire, the senator commented on the growth of the Indian-American population in Delaware by saying, “You cannot go into a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. Oh, I’m not joking.”

Two months later, responding to a question in an August interview on Fox News Sunday, Biden was asked how a “Northeast liberal” could compete against more conservative southern candidates.

“Better than everybody else. You don’t know my state. My state was a slave state. My state is a border state. My state is the eighth largest black population in the country. My state is anything from a northeast liberal state,” Biden said.
