What do you think of blog coaches?

• Great idea! But only my ego would disagree. I already have a difficult time being “bossed around”, not that I have problems with authority or leaders.

Would you ever try it?

• I have NOT the nerve to accept criticism.

Or do you think it’s trying too hard?

• It’s too hard to think that my creative word usages don’t measure up to standards in English.

How do you handle grappling with ideas that you’re having trouble turning into prose that satisfies you?

• I cannot simply put off any ideas for the fear of loosing them entirely. So I found taking notes and forcing a blog as more of a convenience than out of habit.

Do you keep struggling, put them aside for a short time, or just give up?

• I keep struggling even though it’s way past my bedtime. This shows true dedication despite the slowness of thoughts as each minute progress.

Do you have any other tips on writing a post about a controversial subject?

• Keep the tone down. Don’t overwhelm your readers with unsubstantiated noise.

Do you try not to post about controversy or do you thrive on it?

• I thrive on controversy: it’s the main theme for my blog.

So, what do you think? Is swearing an occasional evil necessary for the sake of realsim or is it perhaps even an art in its own right? Or is it something to be avoided at all costs?

• We are allowed a certain amount of obscene/profane language to emphasize our frustrations but TOS must be considered if our blog is to “keep things real”. No normal-function society is without a few “rotten apples”. It keeps debating interesting, too.

Here are my sample sentence:

• Brat: Mother, may I please have a new computer this Christmas?
• Mom: I would prefer you read books. You may have to ask your Father if it’s okay.
• Brat: Why can’t I have a new computer! Mom said books are better.
• Dad: Can you wait next year? Besides, we might not have enough money at the end of this month.

Do you have any summer blogging tips?

• If you photoblog, make sure your object is steady. There’s nothing more annoying than still frames that are blurry.
• Make sure you briefly describe what you like about your summer event and how you could make next summer better.
• If you are concerned about the privacy of your subjects, don’t take their photos! It’s a pain to blur out their faces!

Do you cover different topics seasonally?

• I take each season as if each day counted. There is no difference in time of day either. Just take notes/photos and blog.

Focus On: Travel Blogs by Elizabeth on May 30, 2012

Do you have any favorite travel blogs on WordPress.com, and if so, what do you like about them?

• I like Matt’s photos on his travels because each photo is a single shot of the foods he ate, the bands he watched and the places he visited.

What tips do you have for making posts about travel interesting or useful to readers?

• One photo is enough. Elaborating on the details might distract me and I’ll move on to something else. Maybe a short sentence and/or caption to each photo might make reading easier and faster, too.
