Getting in Touch by Erica V. on February 21, 2012

While still testing the waters in blogging, I created many pages, thinking people would have the time to read through all the juicy details. I was wrong. Now my pages have been reduced to a few, including the two most important pages in any weblog the About and the Contact. So far I only gotten a few weird “Feedbacks” from a WordPress.com “engineer”, which I discovered was part of the import/export process and other SEO spams. Other than that, pages are NOT useful, except as informational material.

HTML, CSS, IDK by Erica V. on February 28, 2012

I’ve heard of HTML and CSS and have learned a great deal about coding. Now, if only I know how to design a simple webpage (for when and if I decide to self-host again) that would be wonderful. So far, I’ve relied on the WordPress platform to get my blogs down and pat.

Are you a novelist or a poet, or do you aspire to be?

• I’m neither a novelist nor a poet or do I aspire to be either. I tried to finish a novel via the NaNoWriMo website back in November 2011 but I finished only three thousand words. As for poetry my paternal grandmother’s side of the family are writers, composers and poets. So I tried poetry and only got two “real” comments from another WordPress.com poet.

What tips do you have for how best to feature creative writing on a blog?

• Find the best WordPress.com theme. If I wanted to start a photoblog, I need a theme that will show off some featured images. I wonder if there is a audioblog theme. Hmm.

What do your site stats mean [to]* you? *You made a typo here, Eric V.

• My site stats mean that people are reading my blog. Unfortunately, it do NOT give me enough data — such as stats on online readers (i.e. Google).

Is it something you use to hone your blog’s focus?

• Yup. I’m trying to figure out what audience read based on the views of page/post and clicks, too.

Or do you hardly look at them?

• I constantly have to view my blog stats. I might have undiagnosed OCD and ADD – or rather an addiction to find out what topics seem to interest the spooks, err, trolls, err I meant, readers.

Daily Posters, how do you know when you’re getting good feedback? What about giving it?

• A good feedback doesn’t offend. I could “sense” or pick up the vibration behind the intention of the feedback. Plus, a smiley face (a wink or a smile) here and there helps to liven up unexpected comments.

• I don’t keep many draft posts because each one is TOO important to keep unpublished. Then again, I do have one news-related article that I meant to publish. But since I got distracted with “The Daily Post at WordPress.com”, I don’t think I’ll get to it in a while.
