We just got back from SpeeDee Oil Change & Tune-Up after paying $822.15 for the 30/60/90 tune-up for a 6-cylinder car. I maxed out that nice credit card. Sheesh!

My front brakes were gone and had to be replaced. Mario, the technician, said: ‘Don’t mess with the brakes’. Of course, I had to get that done even though I was strapped for cash.

The fluids for transmission, rear differential, coolant and oil were flushed and replaced, except for the power steering. The spark plugs were replaced, too.

After depositing my EDD and mailing off the last EDD form, hopefully, I could qualify for my very first extension. I expect to see a letter tomorrow after filing last Friday.

But if I land this job via a temporary agency, I could end up seeing my old co-workers! Wow! I remember their names, too. They are older than me and family of their own. Their manager is cool, too.

So there is no one to impress in the collections department except my getting back to work and paying my taxes. This is one area of A/R that will help improve my communications skills and add to my resume.

Seriously, staying at home is not healthy! It means lack of socializing with my peers. But I’ve learned the old-timers are slower and do need my assistance from time to time.

Once again, in the upcoming two weeks, if nothing materializes from either ‘Arnie’ or ‘Barry’ or both, I’ll have to switch to the next level. It’s because the ‘bros’ weren’t being 100% square with me.

  • 20090204-Long Interview

I really wanted a job. Yesterday, I got a call from ‘Scott’. He or others saw my resume online via CareerBuilders.com for an ‘Accounting Clerk’, which required bookkeeping skills from A/R to A/P and everything in between. All my life, I had only A/R experiences.

I decided: ‘What the heck! And out of fun, I decided to meet with ‘Steve’ at the 2:00PM interview off of Stevens Creek Blvd. in San Jose, CA. It was supposed to have been ‘Bill’ nearby my zip code area. But he was ‘out of office’ per Scott. Yeah, that’s right!

I actually made it there with my unreliable car. Last week, Paw and I discovered that the coolant level was low and VERY dirty. Since I was strapped for much needed cash, I read the owners manual in the hopes of doing the cooling system myself. I found out that I had to flush the radiator!

No wonder my car stopped during that one hot day! In order to keep the engine cool, I kept driving my gray-colored, 1998 Ford Mustang under 40 miles per hour. This meant taking the back roads past the SJPD in downtown San Jose, CA and past Valley Fair Mall. The ride was relaxing, knowing that my old car and I will make the 20 minute travel.

I knew what that long interview was all about – signing up as an agent, which is similar to what my cousin is doing. He almost got me into a $250,000.00 hole! With the troubled economy as it is now, I’m glad that ‘scheme’ didn’t work out because I  certainly didn’t have that kind of cash on hand!

None in our family or relatives owns that kind of money. It was hard work of overtime work for over three decades in America! This is how my parents got to where they are now – retired comfortably, with their pensions and such. They didn’t pull at anyone for investment. They worked out of their own blood, sweat and tears.

So back to the goon who interviewed me: He wanted to pull my parents in to talk with him. Man! These sales representative, agents, marketer (or whatever the heck they are called) are really riding up my nerves! I know how these $#!+heads are capable of doing.

It happened to me over a course of 8.7 slong years, by the way. The goon talked my lingo and I went along. But what really pissed me off was paying that ‘capital investment’ up front. This meant the usual background check and the ability to get into the payroll.

I told him I didn’t have anything and didn’t have enough to bring my stupid car in for servicing. I already spent over $3,000.00 in repairs for this damn car. But it is still pretty to look at. Maybe I could pass on this hard work of mine after making sure it’s properly serviced for safety.

Anyway, I asked the goon if I needed legal, accounting and sales experience to get the job done. He claimed that he would be the ‘mentor’. OMG! And that I could set my schedules. Wow! I asked if I would make ‘cold calls’ and such. But it reality it’s about networking! WTF?

This meant talking with people! I hate people! I hate the communicating by emails, talking on the phone and chatting online with strangers. I told him I value my privacy and didn’t like the idea of networking with friends and relatives, just to get commission, which is EXACTLY like what my cousin does.

I hate networking: I know what losing $20.00 is like for this stupid work-at-home scams! The ‘training materials’ that was emailed to me was nothing more that a pyramid scheme in which a ‘script’ was copy and pasted to several ‘advertisement’ weblinks. People like me wanted to make money, right. And the rest is history!

‘Barry’, you’d FIX IT NOW! I’m sick of capitalism and the pigs that suck ‘cash’ out of our hands into their ‘investment schemes’. I have the sample email for y’all to study. This was through CareerBuilders.com, too! WTF?

Anyway, I sent HIS mentor and him the email to decline meeting with him again tomorrow at 10:00AM. I am not happy. All I wanted as a stupid P/T job just to keep busy and meet cute guys. But I’m ‘over-qualified’. And I don’t care about working behind the desk anymore. It’s tedious.

I wasted 1.5 hours sitting there and listening to the pitch. It was educational. But it’s not what I wanted. I’ve received two more emails in the past few days, similar to what this company wanted — more woman to fill the position! Ass#@les, I’m not like those aggressive marketing scum-bags.

  • 20090127-Don’t Call

For the past few days, I was in a panic. I needed a job and kept applying online through various temporary to direct placement agencies, who are into the business of head-hunting, or rather helping losers like me find a nice, cushy job.

Other websites I visited were: Yahoo! HotJobs.com, in which I used my Yahoo! ID — my first initial followed by my full last name and without spaces in between–; Careerbuilders.com and Monster.com.

I found a position in A/R (or Accounts Receivable ) that was only for two months. Unfortunately it was posted on January 23, 2009 and just found out about it this evening. So I emailed that recruiter and in three short sentences sent my resume, stating it was perfect!

All I needed was just some extra money to get by until the puss-heads pulled through for everyone. I’m not talking about the worldwide community. All this time I was referring to a small group of investors.

Earlier and while the sun was brightly shining around mid-afternoon, I flipped through the pages and re-read Chapter 13 about Money. I know what my purpose is and I hope you understand that I failed miserably. But I learned not to be too trusting but fulfill whatever project was meant for me.

Then I slept and looked for more jobs and got pissed off because I kept receiving a phone call from 303-996-8729 since yesterday. It’s a telemarketer number, usually Everest College (formerly Bryman College) from Westminster, CO (USA).

But I never answered it because once again my cellphone is bugged. This is another reason why I’m careful to word my chatting via MSN and Yahoo! I archive the conversations in case something stupid happens with the parties involved.

It’s part of the ‘CYA‘ (pronounced as ‘See Ya!’ but ‘cover your ass’) that I am all too aware for 8.7 slong years. It’s called documentation ranging from hand written notes, credit card statements and phone statements to signed contracts. But I’m not being paranoid. It’s about being smart and really business-minded.

The only ones that know my cellphone number are my family, some friends, the recipients of my resume, which contains that number, and the holders of my accounts. None calls this phone number except maybe in case of emergency. It’s for their own good, really, that none calls.

So in order to get rid of the puss-heads that put my cellphone number out to this particular telemarketer, I registered this cellphone number with the National Do Not Call Registry. I did this to the two land lines again just for extra assurances.

But for the employers, please call. I’m sick and tired of being home bound and penniless, seriously. It’s really bad. Bad! Bad! Bad! Nyah! So don’t mess with moi!

  • 20081104-Don’t Care

I have observed how people really don’t care who they vote, whether by color, race, religion, creed, sex, size, weight or just plain buck ugly. For these people, they just figured that their ‘Messiah’ will get them out of poverty. This is FALSE. This is an illusion. This is not their planet.

As long as the lazy ones get their way, they don’t care if others suffer for them. It is truly a sick world. I call them lazy because that is what I have observed. But for them the label of their situation is disenfranchisement. Whatever the descriptive terms employed by these same people, they will continue to do nothing about their own improvement.

For example long time ago, the four of us wanted to grab lunch at the nearby McDonald’s restaurant. This is off of Industrial Parkway somewhere in the East Bay. Behind this restaurant was an income housing, which is no longer exists. As we entered this particular restaurant, we noticed that there were several long lines.

Now, I know that McDonald’s restaurant is supposed to be a fast food place. But on that day, we waited for ten minutes in line before deciding to leave. We felt something was wrong with the service. We noticed that there too many BLACK people working in the back.

Not only was the service too damn slow but the other cashiers didn’t seem to care. They didn’t care to speed up things and their attitude was not reflective of the ‘common good‘, which means to feed hard-working, paying patrons of meaty foodstuff. Only one cashier was very busy. She too was black but she was lighter skinned and very pretty. The rest of her co-workers were really dark, not only by color but by work ethics, too.

This goes to show that my eyeballs have been peeled wide open for awhile with regards to certain groups of people because frankly I’ve had enough of their complaining, groaning, moaning and whining. TPTB already know their attitudes. ‘Barry’ (in one of his campaign speech) knows who they are as he told the deadbeat fathers to be more responsible and take care of their families.

But what do the hard-working folks get for proving them wrong? They get blamed for being successful! It doesn’t matter how ‘Barry’ and the others got ahead in life. It is just because they did what was best for them. Plus, they are intelligent enough to climb up. They, of course, had honor and pride and didn’t have to resort to violence on the streets and play the puppets to mind-controlling, fear-mongerers of TPTB.

I wait to see who will be the next president of the United States and how the citizens of this ‘English corporation’ (a.k.a. United States) react. I seriously don’t know who he/she/it will be the ‘winner’ but it sure is exciting to watch. We know that everyone is ‘guilty by association’: If y’all don’t care, then TPTB don’t care either. Either way it’s all the same: eat, shit and die.

In the meantime, the weather has been cold with light rains. The sun is out and so are the fluffy, puffy white clouds. So far there is nothing to show for my hard work because ‘they’ keep lying to me. But I know better: it’s all about teamwork.
