To the Boss:
Bahaha! I messed up! But (as per the wise cracker while undressing upstairs after mass): “[I’m] the backbone [of the group]!” I think no one really cares. I’m just there to do/sing “my part”. It’s good practice, too. Not bad for under a year of my very first public performances, starting with the main choir. Bleh!
During rehearsal, I had to point out to your substitute that he needs to hit the half-note, not on the second beat of the third measure to the “Respond”, which Paw said I sang too fast again. WHATEVER!
As for the verse of the Acclaim, I wished your substitute would have downbeat the F# note but didn’t and that messed me up because I’m still guessing the notes. As a result of rushing and NOT practicing, I made up the melody/tempo. He had to “pause” the whole time! Bravo for flexibility!
For the “Communion” song, I BARELY did the Descant for the last four verses. I was afraid I wouldn’t hit the D5! But I did it! The “brutal audience” heard it good enough. But I didn’t want to scream inside the church.
HOWEVER, Paw said I was humming something. I don’t which song. Maybe because that’s how deaf people, like moi, sound. Oh, dear Lawd! This man wants perfection from an amateur, like moi.
During rehearsal, Uncle Ben threw me off when he said that we should speak into two skinny/PR/announcement microphones NO CLOSER than twelve inches because it’s sensitive. At least Janine told Manong Bert that fact so he doesn’t breathe into the device.
The Lawd’s “server” installed the fat/round singing microphone, which Janine said was too soft to hear if we don’t sing up close to the microphone.
So after waving to your substitute past my opened passenger window and hearing him say that we’ll see each other tomorrow at mass (since he’ll cover for the organist), I turned up my radio to Van Halen’s “Jump”.
I had to leave early because the Squirrel wouldn’t wake and leave our home after a ultra half-marathon run this morning. I was feeling good and refreshed after my shower and confidentally relaxed that I’d be happy this evening.
I arrived at choir rehearsal around quarter past the scheduled hour. I was glad to see the substitute early, too! Two side doors were locked! And we made our way to the front. I walked in front of him Pampanga-style, even though I’m part Visayan.
I’m such a diseased dog! I try my darnest to please everyone. If only I had a nice “master” to serve my slobbering licks, I’d be a good companion as man’s best friend to the end! Bahaha!
Huh,
Flynn…
