  • 20100816-Tweaking Again

    I’ve got four registered weblogs with WordPress.com, one with Blogger.com and one with Plinky.com. For the past couple of hours, I’ve made changes to the `Blog/site titles` and `Taglines` of my WordPress.com weblogs. Two weblogs are updated almost daily. The other two are `static pages` – just sitting there and waiting for nothing.

    • Weblog by Flynn – Alternative topics and other rants.
    • Living with Orgone – Your daily champion of gifting and healing the environment.
    • Paws for Thoth – Once upon a brief pause and a long break.
    • Weblogger’s World – Your daily champion of ranting and raving about everything.

  • Bad Banner

    Although I severely wish to have time stamps for my posts, the WordPress.com theme – INove by mg12, will serve `Flynn’s Blog` (a singular form as one weblog site) well.

    However, since the `Banner` of the `iNove Theme Options` pushes the Blog/Site title and Tagline down into the `contents` below via  IE7, I had to remove that feature. With FireFox, the `Banner` does not affect the `header` contents.

  • 20100815-Trying Theme

    I give up! I needed a`permanent` WordPress.com theme without the addiction of tweaking a paid CSS upgrade.

    With the WordPress.com theme – INove by mg12 , everything is clear.

    PROs:

    • A copyright notice located at the lower left hand corner.
    • A fast-moving `Top` feature located at the bottom right hand corner.
    • Nine `Theme Options`.

    CONs:

    • I really prefer date stamps in my blogs. Blah!

  • 20100815-Tweaking Again

    I can’t stand the domain name! It looks like a crustacian – LOBSTER or BLOBSTER – instead of a gangster! I’m not feeling like a thug but flowery. To Matt and pals: Could I apply a `refund` for an UGLY domain name towards `flynnsblog.com` as an extra year, giving it two years? That’s burger money you know.

    I had to change the Blog/Site title back to a singular form as `Flynn’s Blog`. It doesn’t feel the same, though. I changed the WordPress.com theme again: This time it’s `Theme: DePo Masthead by Derek Powazek.` I’m never a satisfied blogger. Something has got to be done, like take some coding classes! To Matt and pals: I want to take a WordPress.com class! Sign me up!

  • 20100813-Trying Theme

    Do you remember my blogs about internet addiction? Well, I’ve not stopped changing my WordPress.com theme and this time it’s back to: `Black-LetterHead by Ulysses Ronquillo`! I was tempted to purchase a CSS upgrade for $14.97 a year (or $0.04 per day). But I resisted!

    Since my domain name now sports a suffix “ster` (as in `gangster`), I figured that the bloody red, deathly gray and deeper black colors would give off the vibration of a thuggish blogger – moi!

    And yes, it’s my sovereign right to spew nonsense that the faint of heart would dare not troll. Alas, trolls do come and go. I can tell and so can you: Just read (or at least subscribe to) my comments.

    You will get a feel as to the weird stuff that no one really cares about because there are lots of blogs out there and mine just doesn’t make the popular list.

    Who cares? I do! Then again, it’s all about keeping my fingers busy, my mind sharp and my journals up-to-date.

  • Aside Category

    I didn’t know the purpose of the `Aside Category` for the Coraline theme and didn’t find my answer via the WordPress.com forums. So I set my `Aside Category` to `Rant`, which is really ALL the posts ever entered in this blog.

    `Select a category to use for shorter aside posts…`

    What this does is remove the title to each post entries when the latest (or most recent) blog posts (or entries) are viewed as a `front (or home) page`.

  • 20100806-Tweaking Again

    As per yesterday’s comment by Antjie, I’ve decided to change the `theme option` from `Light` to `Dark` because it’s supposed to be easier to read than my `gray background` against light fonts.

  • Liking Theme

    I’m liking my new WordPress.com theme. That’s what I like about my blog. It’s weird and at time incoherent because of the emotions put into each post entry.

    PROs:

    It has a header image of a cave of golden hue to match the yellow colors of my Gravatar, which is a sun, and the RSS feed icon of orange. Plus the cave symbolizes that which are beneath us and hidden from plain view.

    As for the background, I uploaded textured gray look.

    The `Theme Options` have two `Color Schemes` of light and dark; five `Default Layout` and two categories – one for `Aside` and another for `Gallery`. I have no ideas what these categories serve.

    The top navigation bar has a drop down menu. The `tagline` describing in a few words what this blog is about is located beneath the `blog title`. Both are nicely centered.

    And it has four bottom widgets! It looks cleaner and more presentable now. Plus, the `auto-width` adjusts to the zoom feature of the browser!

    CONs:

    I still prefer time/date stamps! Waahh!

  • 20100805-Trying Theme

    Whoa! What’s this! WordPress.com has yet another theme! This time I’m trying:

    Coraline by Automattic

    A squeaky-clean theme featuring a custom menu, header, background, and layout. Coraline supports 7 widget areas (up to 3 in the sidebar, four in the footer) and featured images (thumbnails for gallery posts and custom header images for posts and pages). It includes styles for print and the Visual Editor, special styles for posts in “Asides” and “Gallery” categories, and has an optional full-width page template that removes the sidebar.

    I tried the dark version but it hurt the eyes. The light color is default to basic white and black.

  • Private Domains

    I came across the newest WordPress.com article titled : Protect your Privacy with Private Domain Registrations. Now, I’d like use my old ones but couldn’t because one is taken and the site looks nice! The other one is registered elsewhere.

    I sent the WordPress.com support team about these two issues. And after re-reading the article, it appears I won’t be able to use the old domains. I’ll have to think of something fancy, something different, something that will make people want to come back for more.

    Yeah, right. Then that means I’ll have to pay for a CSS upgrade. One can’t have a nice domain name and not have have a different theme, tweaked to one’s desires. I know: I’ve tried hundreds of times to perfect my ideal `site` but couldn’t find satisfaction.

    In the meantime, I’ll meditate upon a domain name. Something will surely manifest from deep within my small mind. Hmmm, definitely not cheeseburgers.

  • 20100724-Tweaking Again

    I’ve been changing WordPress.com themes again for my three registered weblog sites:

    • Flynn’s Blogs – Alternative Topics and Rants is trying Solipus theme.
    • Flynn’s Orgone – Just Another Orgone Resource is trying 2010 default theme.
    • Flynn’s Paws – Plinky Prompts and Answers is trying Vostok theme.

    So take a look or I’ll be unhappy. Nah. You don’t have to. It’s okay. Not it’s not. Yes, it is. Whatever. Anyway, Earlier this month or so, I’ve received a notice stating that one of my domain name has expired. I didn’t care because I didn’t have the means. I don’t even know how to get it back either. I’m not that smart and UGLY, too! Waahh!

    Oh, and I couldn’t resist changing certain blog titles back to its original format of date following by a dash. This would include the most common ones, such as `more spooks`, `weathery ways`, `trying themes`, `tweaking again`, `noticing numbers`, etc. So that the price of blogging  – always editing – adding and deleting.
