    Trying Theme: Able

This time I’m trying Theme: Able By Automattic

A multipurpose traditional blog theme which contains up to a large three-column layout that is clean, responsive, and highly readable. Read more about Able →

It’s definitely willing and “able” to make me happy temporarily. The appearance is “clean and bright” with grays and whites. The responsive layout doesn’t seem to work well on the small screen of my smart/cellphone. I’ll probably have to adjust the “width” for this one, too. The font is highly readable and takes my “Custom Fonts” well. It’s too bad the “Custom Colors” are useless. And for that, I’ll give this theme two out of three stars.

    Trying Premium Theme: Blog Simple

This time I am trying Blog Simple By Automattic

As the name says, Blog Simple is a simple blog-centric theme designed by Mike Kus. Its unique and bold two-tone design sets your blog apart from the crowd. Not only can you choose a theme color from four suggested colors, but also pick any color from a color picker. Read more about Blog Simple →

Although it doesn’t use “Post Formats”, the theme uses post excerpts for the front page, archive page and search results and follows-up with a “Read Now” link on the bottom corner right of each post, which is blocked off nicely in a Roller deck-link card shape.

At least, the theme takes the “Custom Design” but doesn’t support the Custom Colors, which can be tweaked under the Custom CSS section. I modeled the colors after the Theme: Dusk. I may change it to show orange later on.

  • Trying Theme: Fresh & Clean

    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/fresh-and-clean/

This time I’m trying Theme: Fresh & Clean By AJ Clarke, WPExplorer

A responsive, spick-and-span theme that lets you put your best content forward with minimal frills. Fresh & Clean is a great choice for a casual blog — or — if you’re feeling adventurous, use its featured post slider and featured images to transform your blog into a stylish online portfolio. For the past few days, I’ve been using the “Custom Design” upgrade. This themes takes the Fonts, Colors and CSS of the “Custom Design” very well. Plus, I’ve designed my blog to look like a “one-column” theme instead of the default “two-column” theme with the content on the left and the sidebar on the right.

Eventually, I will “release” the full-view of each post and use the thumbnail image and post slider, too. But for now, I prefer displaying only the “post title” for “front page, archive pages, and the search results page” and I’ve been using the “Excerpt” post box and “More tag” whenever possible to minimize “sneaky peek” previews from online readers.

  • Tried Theme: Twenty Twelve

    Tried Theme: Twenty Twelve

Bah! I tried this newest theme a few minutes ago and I really don’t like it. Oh, Flynn! Why?

Ahem, students. Well, I couldn’t make FULL use of my “Custom Design” upgrade, meaning I had to delete all of my CSS codes, the Colors were too light and the Fonts wouldn’t budge.

It’s okay. I’m NOT entirely disappointed. I’ll keep looking for my ideal WordPress.com theme.

  • Trying Theme: Lovesbirds

    Lovebirds Theme – WordPress.com

I’m trying yet another free WordPress.com Theme: Lovebirds. But I’m NOT in love or going to get married EVER!

    • Removed heart-shaped .comments-link element because the post/entry title didn’t wrap around the image/link.
    • Removed the default header show two white doves kissing each other while ENTRAPPED inside a wire cage.
    • Replaced the .vines element with an animated .gif showing a taunting green-faced with its red-tongue sticking out.
    • Retained the CSS stylesheet to “hide” the post/entry content element from the .body, the .search and the ancient .archive, which rhymes with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Bahaha!

The one Sidebar is all I need; since the layout is “Responsive”. The “Infinite Scroll” works fine, too. Great job, team Automattic! Now process my other Support tickets and I’ll be happier here (for now).

  • 20120717-Tweaking Again

Has stripped annoying “.entry-meta” for all posts! Now sees only “Posted on [time.entry-date]” element and not the categories, tags and other junk, save for “Leave a Reply” or “Comment on…” Still not showing “Post Titles” for “Links” and “Quotes”. Has temporary happiness now. Smart brain has “Evil Kitty” in tweaking CSS Stylesheet Editor. Must resist temptation to press “Preview” and/or “Save Stylesheet” buttons. Must distract self with other stuff in life. Perhaps will export/import from/to “My Daily Posts”/”My Blogging Path”. Has thinkings still why MEDIA (i.e. images) won’t move between WordPress.com weblogs. Has anger again now!

  • 20120716-Tweaking Again

Has been using my Custom Design upgrade and wouldn’t stop tweaking! Sickness, I tell you! Anyway, has used the [.format-quote blockquote] element to “emphasize” blockquote better with gray background and black border on the left. Has used [.format-[all post format, except “Link” and “Aside” here].entry-meta] element and set those off with “[display:none]” element. Has temporary satisfaction until I find something WRONG later on!
