Topic 19: Describe a time when you witnessed bravery: a) in your profession b) with your own eyes c) in someone you admire.

Here are samples of what I witnessed as bravery:

    a) I’ve only heard how people would stand up against their bosses because of what they saw and heard. Roger (B.); Christina (T.P.); Jacklyn (V.); Carolyn (T.)’s nephew; and Hoan (N.) fought back injustices against fellow employees. There ARE stupid managers who cannot lead and take advantage of others. These managers scream and instead give themselves credit they don’t deserve.

    b) Long ago, Gilbert (our former next door neighbor) had rushed over to help Stephanie, who had fallen from her little toy tricycle. She was crying from the gutter at the base of the driveway. I had pulled up from my white Honda Accord at that time. Stephanie, like her mother Patrisha, have taken a path of drugs unfortunately. Both neighbors have since moved out.

    c) Many times, Maw has stood up against the insane relatives, including Bella, Malouse, Malformed, Maldeath, Shillster and others who are so screwed up in their minds, seriously. Their bloodline mentality is so thick they will only defend their own kinds and prey on the weaker in-laws. No wonder there is war on the planet because the psychotic people, like my relatives, simply can NOT “get real”!

  • Give Credit

    “Give me/us some credit!”

    ~Boy many times…

    —
This morning Maw said something profound:

“You don’t need credit if you do something right.”

  • Hair Cuttings

Yesterday around lunchtime, we decided to have our hair cut. Paw got his from Maw. I saw that Maw measured the length of his hair cut with three of her fingers against his scalp. Maw got her hair cut from me. I did a good job that Maw’s hairstyle is much cleaner. The lines are even and her gray hairs towards the left front hairline make her look handsome.

After cleaning up the hair cutting tools and vacuuming up the floor, Maw and I ate lunch without Paw who was still showering. We clean up; she got her shower and I styled her hair nicely.

I called Kim at 1:36pm. And in one hour, I got a hair cut and hair color (Red Copper), which looked good under the sunlight but still normal dark for us Asian women. I could have opted for a Red Brown (Auburn) color, which I’ll try later.

  • Poopy Smell

Oh! I love to smell my poo-poo!
    It’s Y-U-C-K-Y!
Oh! I love to smell my poo-poo!
    It’s Y-U-C-K-Y!
Oh! I love to smell everyday.
And if you ask me, why I’ll say:
It’s something I that love to do:-
    It’s P-O-O-P-I-N-G.

(Sorry! The jingle is from an American televised commercial on a popular meat food product. Maw had talked about the toilet downstairs not flushing properly. Her poop went down fine but the water almost overflowed, which it didn’t. Thank goodness!)

Topic 16: Describe the wackiest but most useful advice you’ve ever received.

If your Chinese wife doesn’t give you children or me grandchildren and since she is TOO old to make babies, which could increase the chances of you having retarded babies, you better fool around with a younger woman who can take care of you and your babies! After all, you are good looking and smart, too! You know I don’t like your wife and your wife and your in-laws don’t like us Filipinos! Take a hint!

  • Their Way

So yesterday during lunch, Theresa and I were talking and I mentioned that the boy’s wife is Chinese.

“The Chinese only take care of their own kind!”

When (and if ever) the boy and girl do decide to make any children, the girl would more than likely raise her children as Chinese. And I know the boy won’t insist because he doesn’t want to loose his “pillow”.
    —
And tonight, the boy continues to defend his in-laws and to ask us to forgive them for their innocence. Of course we Filipinos already know what he got himself into without having to say anything else. And the boy knows it too.

He claims that the girl was sorry for not making tonight’s last minute invitation to a dinner because she was sleeping after working the Saturday shift. In the back of my mind, I wonder if she was pissed off again, screamed at him and simply refused to see us because she hate us for being Filipinos.

I don’t know what else to do Lord. The boy answered your prayer and actually attended this evening’s mass even after Maw had screamed on his cellphone’s answering system last Saturday: “You liar!” But whatever you have planned was meant to be for THEIR convenience and not necessarily out of love, which is only temporary until death.

With that said and the fact that manufacturing jobs are being shipped overseas to China, which is and will be the superpower of the world (as per FoxNews this afternoon and the Barbara Simpson show tonight on our local radio station 560am) and knowing that China refuses international countries from inspecting their environmental issues at the home front, how will China handle the lands of the Native American Indians?

  • Two Kids

“Don’t do it! She’s got two kids!”

~A cardboard sign held up by an old black guy in a lavender suit.

    —
For the first time ever, Maw and I were watching only the VERY last few minutes of “Madea’s Family Reunion” (2006) on BET (Black Entertainment Television). While the beautiful black couple were exchanging vows, Maw would keep saying:

    “But I have two kids!”

    I was screaming:

    “Don’t ruin the fantasy!”

Of course, there was no way to spoil a happy ending.

  • Damn Devils

Question: What do you call a relationship between an Asian and a white?
Answer: Sayang! Pronounced: “Sigh! Young!” Filipino translation: “What a [damn] waste!”
    —
Bahahaha! No seriously. While Asians tend to stick to their tradition, the Whites tend stick to their guns! I’ve been reading a dedicated blogger’s articles about the same theme: live your own damn life and quite imposing on the other party. He sounds like someone who had too many “parasites” from past and current relationships.

Anyway, the Asians, in particular the Chinese (and their Buddist philosophy of not “forcing” or “confronting” anyone or any issue) are good at imposing INDIRECTLY. What they do is let the other party do whatever they want. And then when the clueless party had their fill, the other side who had enough comes in for the kill!

That’s right! Instead of using weapons, like guns, Asians get what they want by “doing unto others” in a non-violent matter — through the mind.

For example, if the girl wants to visit her family every friggin’ weekend, she’ll let the boy off by not “imposing” her will of letting him come along. Why should he see them? They are nasty nut-balls and continue to speak their language after numerous times of reminding them he doesn’t understand!

BUT, in retaliation and to “get even”, she won’t go visit the boy’s family. Now, do you understand how coughing really means “f^ck you” without verbally saying it? You don’t need to take inter-cultural classes to learn how these sort of people operate.

  • Mr. Christmas

Ben and Minh gave us an “Heirloom Music Box” from http://www.mrchristmas.com. It’s a green-colored egg with a Santa Claus twirling around inside. It has a green, velvety ribbon for hanging on a Christmas tree or a table stand while eating. It plays 12 Christmas songs:

    • Away in a Manger
    • It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
    • Joy to the World
    • Silent Night
    • The First Noel
    • Angels We Have Heard on High
    • What Child is This
    • O Come All Ye Faithful
    • Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
    • We Wish You a Merry Christmas
    • Angels from the Realms of Glory.

Topic 5: Do you prefer to talk, text message, or a different communication method?

I don’t like communicating with people. I prefer blogging to myself. Talking takes too much hot air to come out. Text messaging just eats up the minutes of my cellphone, which still has a pull-out antennae! That’s why I love WordPress.com!

I can blog just about anything and no one will care in the world what I have to say, except the authorities and government — both of which may be reading my weblog. But then again that’s just my imagination. (Wink! Wink!)

If I talk, then that means I have to open up my mouth and actually interact with humans. Whatever comes out of my pie hole doesn’t always make sense and I’m forced to speak slower or say nothing at all. Plus, my hard of hearing makes conversing all that more difficult.

If I text message, then that means I have to open up my cellphone and actually use up my precious minutes. Whatever is read is quite impersonal and nothing compared to speaking with a human in person. The dynamics of interactions with emotions and gesticulations are all but lost in the internet. And MISUNDERSTANDINGS cannot be corrected fast enough by typing out messages with slow fingers on small keypads! Plus, my hard earned pennies will have all but been used up to pay for the electric bills, just to recharge the battery!

  • Nice Faith

At around 2:00pm, Maw had wanted to drop by the house of Fe to give her something in return for Fe’s thoughtfulness during Thanksgiving and Christmas. In return, Maw had given a small plastic bag of Cuties oranges and two of Paw’s Fuji apples. Fe, of course,  had lots more to give in return – LOTS of lemon, green peppers, LOTS of carrots and other fruits and vegetables. We didn’t stay long because her husband was sleeping in the living room. Thank goodness! Because I would have gagged in the aroma of the house – a typical smell of cooking lingering in the air. God!

Anyway, Paw was left home to finish up his lunch. Maw doesn’t trust his driving and she started to lecture me about being more understanding of the old man and her. Of course, I was being fed up and annoyingly bratty and retorted unkindly but in jest of course. When we got home, Paw was STILL washing the dishes. Maw was correct: He is too slow and thoughtless to speed up or give someone nice like Fe something to remember during the holidays.

Topic 4: Share something that makes you smile.

Here is a nice list that makes me smile:

    • Seeing happy people smiling .
    • Seeing happy parakeets kissing each other.
    • Seeing my yellow-faced, dandelion roars as I walk along an unincorporated section near First Street (where an underground petroleum pipeline is located).
    • Seeing the sunshine come out (like right now).
    • Seeing fluffy, puffy clouds of white (like right now).
    • Feeling the brisk winds blowing into my ear holes.
    • Hearing the boy’s jokes.
    • Hearing Paw’s laughter.
    • Hearing Maw’s joys after her finished sewing projects or cooked meals.
    • Hear the birds sing, the cats meow, and the dogs woof.
    • Watching the squirrels dig Maw potted plants the hide or get their walnuts and scurry up to the tree to avoid Maw’s wooden stick.
    • Watching people say hello and goodbyes and waving in a friendly manner to moi.
