  • Trying Theme: Clean Home

I am currently trying Theme: Clean Home by Mid Mo Design. This is the ONLY WordPress.com theme that works well to allow SOME transparency to the background image of “The Shepherdess (1889) By William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905).

Other themes, such as “Koi”, “Liquorice” and “Neutra”, allow for full transparency of the background image but it makes reading difficult. With “Clean Home”, one could barely see the image without using the “zoom feature” or compromising the reading.

The “zoom feature” of my internet browser handles well (either “zoom in” using “Control and Minus sign” or “zoom out” using “Control and Plus sign”). By using the “zoom featuer” one could see the background image in it entirety.

For the “Display option” found under the “Background”, I set the following:

    • Position Background Position — Center;
    • Repeat Background Repeat — Tile; and
    • Attachment Background Attachment — Scroll.

  • Trying Theme: Spectrum

So I’ve switched WordPress.com themes again. While I love the larger-than-life fonts and rainbow colors of the most recently added theme “Spectrum”, I wanted something simple, like “Tarski”, which has templates for the “Archives” and “Links” pages.

But I discovered this rather old (but still new) WordPress.com theme works nicely:

    Paperpunch by The Theme Foundry

A clean and versatile theme featuring a subtle, textured background. Paperpunch features a widget-ready sidebar and four additional footer columns to display all your widgets. Read more about Paperpunch →

Since I couldn’t have a FAIRY-TALE DREAM of unicorns, butterflies, rainbows, clouds, and flowers somewhere on my blog;  I’ve browsed online, saw one that looked “normal”, uploaded and cropped a background image which had the “spectrum” of rainbow colors:

    Rainbow Spectrum
    Rainbow Spectrum

Then with the current “Custom Background”, I’m able to get a “Display Options” of Position: Right; Repeat: Tile Horizontally; Attachment: Fixed; and Color: BLACK (or #000000).

Addendum-Last edited by FLYNN on 20101015 at 20:06:19 pm: Forget it! I went back to the Twenty-Ten theme by the WordPress team. I must be VERY dis-satisfied with my weblog layout.

Addendum-Last edited by FLYNN on 20101015 at 20:07:48 pm: Forget it! I went back to the Fusion theme by digitalnature. I must be nuts by now. But alas, I see that the rainbow header looks better on this theme, except the damn sidebar rides up too high and covers the blue and purple rainbow colors, which are more than made up with the purple eye-candy tags.

  • Trying Theme: Fusion

Bahaha! Have I gone nuts yet? Nope! Why? It’s because I’m trying a new theme here at WordPress.com:

    Fusion by digitalnature

A flexible theme with a widget-ready footer, custom header image and menu. Layout options include flexible or fluid main column, choice of left or right sidebar, two right sidebars, or a full-width option with no sidebars.

    PROs:

    • Choice between Fixed and Flexible (my choice) widths!
    • Choice between Full Post and Excerpt (my choice); so readers are “forced” to click on the links – READ IT and WEEP!
    • Choice of four layouts: Right Sidebar (my choice), Left Sidebar, Two Right Sidebars, and No Sidebar (Use footer widget area).
    • Choice of uploading header of exactly 980 x 148 pixels. I used the “path.jpg” image.
    • Supports one (1) Theme location, which is the primary navigation for Custom Menus/Links.
    • Supports footer widget area. Using four widgets is recommended by moi.
    • Shows time-stamp on single view of blog/post entry!
    • Features colorful “mouse-overs” (not fly-bys).
  • Orgone Pages

I’ve edited three of my orgone pages to include linkbacks to my Flickr.com account:

    • Chemtrails;
    • Clouds; and
    • Comparison.

The images are `medium` in size and are much larger and easier to view with the current theme : `Twenty Ten by the WordPress team`.

I’ve edited the same three pages on my other weblog site : Living with Orgone, too. It appeared that the captions were switched between the two of my `before` and `after` photos under the `Comparison` page. Hahaha!

  • Sharing Likes

I just read `More ways to share` (by Lenny). I watched the video without the audio because I’m at work. It has the following servces available:

    • Press This!
    • Reddit
    • Facebook
    • Digg
    • Stumble Upon
    • Twitter
    • Email
    • Print

The four highlighted in bold are already `enabled` by default. The other four services are available.

Go to Dashboard >> Settings >> Sharing

The `Sharing` link is between the `Open ID` above and `Domains` below.

  • Private Domains

I came across the newest WordPress.com article titled : Protect your Privacy with Private Domain Registrations. Now, I’d like use my old ones but couldn’t because one is taken and the site looks nice! The other one is registered elsewhere.

I sent the WordPress.com support team about these two issues. And after re-reading the article, it appears I won’t be able to use the old domains. I’ll have to think of something fancy, something different, something that will make people want to come back for more.

Yeah, right. Then that means I’ll have to pay for a CSS upgrade. One can’t have a nice domain name and not have have a different theme, tweaked to one’s desires. I know: I’ve tried hundreds of times to perfect my ideal `site` but couldn’t find satisfaction.

In the meantime, I’ll meditate upon a domain name. Something will surely manifest from deep within my small mind. Hmmm, definitely not cheeseburgers.

  • Unsecured Connection

At around 7:31am (PDT), I tried to log out via `My Account` >> `Log Out`. This was after viewing Matt’s `Downtime` article. I received the following FireFox error message:

    This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to en.blog.wordpress.com, but we can’t confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site’s identity can’t be verified.

    What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn’t continue.

    [Get me out of here!]

    > Technical Details

    • en.blog.wordpress.com uses an invalid security certificate.
    • The certificate is only valid for the following names:
    • *.wordpress.com , wordpress.com
    • (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

    > I Understand the Risks

Since I’m not a tech support specialists, I merely clicked the back browser button and selected `Stats` from the drop-down menu and then selected `Log Out`, which was more successful.

  • Hammer Down-time

So I just logged into my computer and my WordPress.com account and read `Downtime by Matt`. He explained it was their fault. Fine. Taken. I feel much better now. Thanks Matt and pals.

But why doesn’t anyone believe in aliens? If you were in my shoes, nay, experienced what is on the `other side`, I wouldn’t be `tagging` some of my blog entries with `extraterrestrials` or `conspiracy`.

There are game players out there. Some like to have fun. Some are sore losers. Mostly they don’t care who wins as long as they can make the rules, which is supposed to protect everyone, really.

My hammer wants to come down on some heads. But because it may be a `national security` issue, I blog anonymously, which explains why I refuse to renew my domain name because WordPress.com doesn’t offer `private domain registration`.

  • 20100610-Trying Theme

Since I posted a reply on `New Theme: Andrea` of the WordPress.com News, I’ll keep the theme for awhile. I couldn’t find a suitable custom image background and opted for basic black. For the custom header, I created a gradient image again with GradientMaker.com:
