  • 20090805-Just Me

What is my world but only me?

    Walking upon land,
    just the trees and grass.
No birds or bee or flowers.
    To lie down and rest.
    Silent but the winds.

    Even the seas,
    just the water and shore.
No whales or fish or crabs.
    To lie down and rest.
    Silent but the waves.

[Flynn’s note: Imagery inspired around 0755am while sitting down on the pew, waiting for the 0800am morning mass to begin and meditating.]

  • 20081217-Charitable Business

A charity is like a business.

Companies give jobs. People take jobs.
Jobs give payments. Payments take time to spend.

Charities give hope. People take hope.
Hope gives happiness. Happiness takes time to give.

  • 20070910-Pet R’ Us

    The more they delay
    to bring the troops home.
    The more they betray
    to our broken hearts.
    The more they won’t pay
    to us you must owe.

A short poem of six lines with five syllables about the brining home the troops.

  • 20070728-Flipping Fool

    Away stinky pee!
    JB, please leave me
    And my family!
    Nothing is for free —
    Not even from me!

    Get up from your knee
    Stop your begging plea
    There’s no guarantee
    Business bourgeoisie
    Run far away – flee!

    New divorcé tee
    Lied to us crazed glee!
    Per cousins agree
    ‘Orge’ mother — banshee
    Momma’s little flea

    To get rich quick snob
    By troublesome hob
    A middle ground blob
    Low interest rob
    Vile profits of glob

    Get a real job
    Or your license, SOB!
    Living at home slob!
    Pay your mother, gob!
    Don’t mess with the mob.

Another pathetic poem of five, five-lined stanzas with five syllables in monorhyme.

  • 20070709-Plucking Preys

Flock away of thirty four gray!
I don’t know how they seem to grow
And where and why, I could just cry.
They will appear when there is fear.
When one is gone another is spawn.

The silver crane picks on a plain
Of sandy shores as it explores
With it long beak — shiny and sleek.
It shoves its head into dark dread.
Its curly locks hide like a fox.

Move dark shadows! It’s time to plow.
We’re looking for our prey galore.
Our relief comes from picking crumbs:–
They’re large and small. We phase through walls.
Do not delay! Where’s our buffet?

A feathery poem about a ‘plucking’ euphemism for food of a gray kind. (Eh?)

    The birds and the bees
    Like us humaneze
    Doing as we please
    To poke fun and tease
    Loving life with ease

  • 20070610-Angel Messengers

    Be not afraid.
    We have always loved you.
    Don’t feel betrayed.
    We have always been true.
    Angels have prayed.
    To send God’s love anew.

  • 20070603-Monster Masterpiece

    My monster masterpiece
    Blogger’s world never to cease
    From my small world release
    Deep thoughts never at peace
    Small mind sharing increase

A poem of five stanza with five syllables in monorhyme.

  • 20070420-Saturday Wash

    Wash the stinky birds
    Parakeets of four remain
    Three boys and one girl
Old Maw talks of old folks home
My anger tells her to stop!

First a big black one —
A bumble bee, then honey bee
    Near parakeet cage
    White towel with flower prints
Small sweet pea tree with flowers

    Windy, clear blue sky
    Then Angry Elder Maw screams
    Irresponsible!
Let them die under the sun
The cause of the Old Maw’s pain

    Hiding upstairs day
Nowhere to go but lay low
    Typing and blogging
Nothing to say but stay still
    Discovered word press dot com

    Oh Joy! New hobby
    Organize my blogs
    Upload close to four hundred
No good! Cut and paste errors!
Fonts and colors in the way.

    Phone call from BratBoy
Picked up by Old Maw screaming,
    ‘Flynn! It’s your BratBoy!’
Oh, BratBoy! What is it now?
Hi and goodbye: I’ll leave now.

    A cash withdrawal
    Late afternoon burger and pie
    Fresh orange juice drink
Tall Chinese moms and their kids
    Thick accents screaming at kids

    Juicy hamburger
    Until gray mares belly full
    Apple pie from him
Another half an hour to go
    Before visiting the brats

    Heavy wooden pieces
    Steps twenty two done halfway
    Airhead not much help
    Sitting around and staring
    Pissing me off once again

    Lifting some pieces
But nothing more could be done
    Before niece walks in
Croissant tastes bad to my tongue
    Talks about her new boyfriend

    I stopped working hard.
    After their lazy snack break,
    BratBoy asks for help
    Two Chinese only talking
    In English and nothing more

    I answered back niece
I’m older! You should help too.
    Lazy broad got up.
    Her attitude won’t pass me.
My first snap at those people!

    She got up and tried.
    Held electrical screwdriver
    Gently but got up
    Both Chinese scowled far away
    I will not tolerate them!

    Airhead talks to girl
Told my BratBoy I am leaving.
    Motioned with my hands
    Flapping of index and thumb
Talked to her, waved to him – goodbye

    Saw Maw exercise
    Silently passing by her
    Didn’t say one word
    Greeted parakeets a bit
    And straight to the patio

    Talked to Paw out back
    Watering his lawn many times
    About their new t.v. stand
    China cabinet in height
    For forty-two inch plasma

    Ran upstairs again
But smelled the food from below
    I could not resist
Had to bring out my own plate
Maw and I started to talk.

  • 20070402-Which Ward

    ‘Forward Ever, Backward Never’
    Campaign slogan — unknown clever
    Headless body — heartless sever
    People always starving fever
    Eying on their OIL endeavor

Another political poem regarding an election of five-lined stanza in eight syllables in monorhyme. (The opposition won, by the way).

    American and allied forces:

    A legal and moral duty
Demand not to harm earth’s beauty.
Do not test the resolve of the crew.

  • 20070301-Angered Rumblings

    Nature:

Felt quake at eight thirty tonight
per atomic clock to my right sight.
After three minutes later without fright
    heard copters above without sight
and felt the low flyby with might

    Family:

Did not feel all this much excite
    after hearing ‘Mar’s’ hothead ignite
    about religious icons’ right
at my ‘Onion’s’ house by invite
    and about my advising slight.

    Growing tired from the incite
    of miscommunications with fight
    and disregard for the polite
who perceive this life with bright light
and those things and folks that are alright,
    especially the white knight

A poem of two, five-lined stanzas and of one, six-lined stanza with eight syllables in monorhyme.
