  • New QuickPress Post

    Amidst the pain in my left wrist ball as sustained from working at that temp job from hell, I’m lurking on my `Dashboard` and found the link for `New QuickPress Post` via `My Account`. There are five areas to fill: Post Title (required); Content (required); Tags; Post to Blog (select one); and Save as Draft or Publish.

    Unfortunately, the QuickPress feature does not have the normal visual editor while writing. So that is was QuickPress is all about – posting contents quickly without images, videos or audio. Just letters made into words and turned into sentences which becomes paragraphs and thus a blog entry.

  • New Tree

    While planting new trees are good for the environment, a new `tree` could be seen in the dashboard panel of WordPress.com.

    There are two levels labeled:

    • `My Account` and
    • `My Blogs`.

    Within `My Accounts`, there are eight drop-down selections:

    • New QuickPress Post (which I hardly use);
    • Edit My Profile;
    • Read Freshly Pressed;
    • Read Posts I Like;
    • Track My Comments;
    • Global Dashboard;
    • Get Support and
    • Log Out.

    Within the `My Blogs`, there are two levels. One is for the registered blogs along with `Manage Blogs` and followed by five sub-selections:

    • Dashboard;
    • New Post;
    • Blog Stats;
    • Manage Comments and
    • Read Blog.

    Within each registered blog, there is another drop-down menu called `Blog Info`. It has four selections:

    • Random Post;
    • Get Shortlink;
    • Report as spam and
    • Report as mature.

    I like this version better. It’s easier to navigate.

  • Testing QuickPress

    I noticed today that there are five tabs after one logs into the account:

    1. My Blogs;
    2. Freshly Pressed;
    3. Tags;
    4. Posts | Like; and
    5. QuickPress.

    The limitation with blogging through QuickPress is the inability to use formats such as bold fonts and such. I don’t see a field for `categories` but for `tags` besides, `Post Title (required)`, `Content (required)` and `Post to Blog` with drop-down menus of registered blogs.

    But this is why QuickPress is the way it is. It’s for microblogging a quick thought, comment or concern.
