    Okay, I’m being a puss-head all over again and here I went ahead with switching free themes via WordPress.COM!  This time it’s Rounded by Ghyslain Armand (A brown, flexible width theme with a unique navigation and lots of flowers.)

    It has the elements that I want from the meta fields:

    • time stamp
    • date stamp
    • category
    • tag

    Unfortunately the fonts are small. But with nice web browsers such as FireFox, I could Zoom In (or Ctrl +) each time to make reading easier on more myopic eyesights such as mine.

    Instead of the ‘Front page displays’ being the ‘Welcome’ page, I selected ‘Your latest posts’ under the ‘Reading Settings’ of my Dashboard. The purpose was for those who had internet connection via cellphones. The readers could enter my URL address at http://flynnsblogs.wordpress.com/ into their web browser and find the most recent posts towards the top.

    This version is more logical since a weblog is suppose show the latest entry. And the more impatient readers will get the most up-to-date drivel from moi instead of navigating everywhere from a static page, like ‘Welcome’.

    But this meant I had to find a theme that had a navigation bar way on the top of my weblog. I looked everywhere and liked the brighter ones (with white background) but this current theme fits the bill for now because it has more colors and flowers, too!

    Another compromise that I had to bear was the one sidebar, which, thankfully, is located on the right side of the text. This means that readers using their cellphones will be able to see the blog entries right after scrolling down past the Blog Title, Tagline, Navigation bar and of course, my ‘Sticky post’ showing an illustration of Dante’s ‘Inferno’ Satan by Gustave Doré.

    So there you have my free theme. Until ‘they’ REPAY me, I cannot take computer classes, learn PHP, SQL and other weblog programming and get to work on my paid WordPress.ORG weblog site. I hate ‘TPTB’. They suck eggs big time. And people think, I’m just ranting. Behold! What’s happening now?

  • 20090116-Editing Weblog

    Eh! It’s after 01:00AM and I’m up late. I’ve been playing around with the WordPress.COM themes and went from the Sandbox back to Digg 3 Column by Small Potato, which is ‘3 column theme with two sidebars and a customizable header.’

    As a result, I’ve added all the widgets that could possibly want, plus three more: ‘Popular prayers’, ‘Disclaimer’ and ‘Copyright’. I figured since I’ve been blogging through my cellphone via `m.wordpress.com` and the characters of that cellphone are limited to 160 characters, I needed to make sure my ‘thoughts’ are not ‘copyrighted’.

    This theme as a big header image (of a sylph from 01/01/2008), the RSS feed buttons for posts and comments located on the upper left, a search form located on the upper right, and of course, the navigation tabs on the very top. The two columns work well for now, except I had to remove the widget for the ‘Signed books by DB.’

    I wasn’t going to mess around with the CSS stylesheet this time it looks fine for now. Because it’s not worth the time, unlike the Sandbox theme, which is really meant for experts in programming. It’s sad there is nothing in the ‘Extras’ section under ‘Appearance’ that would allow the users a wide selection of time/date stamp, one-two-three-four columns to be automatically applied towards any WordPress.COM theme.

  • 20090115-Editing Weblog

    Hah! I’ve removed my ‘Home’ page and created a long-winded ‘Welcome’ page based on a resource publication of living naturally. But I had to leave the ‘Main menu’ stuff of Welcome, Contents, Web-book, and Recent-post intact because there is no navigation bar on this current WordPress.COM theme.

    I decided to that two images from the ‘Welcome’ and ‘Home’ pages could be combined into my ‘Welcome’ page. For the ‘Let there be light’ image, I placed the text to the right of it and for the ‘God as a point of light’ image, I placed the text to the left of it.

    The paragraph breaks did not work and I was pissed. So I inserted three hearts between the closing sentence and my signature (or pen-name). A dedication was included above the same crap stuff below: disclaimer and copyright.

    Yesterday, I played around with the current skin: One-Column Minimalist 1.0 by Scott Allan Wallick with the two columns floating below the main entry/post page above. The sidebar is showing as two columns: one with my main widgets and the right sidebar for the blogroll links and ‘Signed books by DB’ (for promo purposes, of course).

    So I awoke around 02:00AM and couldn’t get back to sleep. After blogging through my cellphone via `m.wordpress.com`, I suddenly decided to type the URL website to `flynnsblogs.wordpress.com`.

    For the first time after so many years of owning this outdated but still useful cellphone, I logged back online and saw that I had to scroll all the way down just to get at the most `Recent post`!

    So with much deliberation, I got up at around 03:00AM, put on my eyeglass, grabbed my glass of water, proceeded to close the door to the `green computer room`, sat down, turned the computer on and logged online.

    Then I decided to revert back to The Journalist v1.9 by Lucian E. Marin. I tried others but this was cleaner in appearance. But since I’m ‘restless’ and could never be satisfied with one image, I’ll keep searching.

    I tried the newest theme release called `Grid Focus` but the set-up for the widgets didn’t jive with moi. I was just used to the static feature of widgets and couldn’t understand the `primary index` from the `primary post`.

    Next, I set the `Front page displays` from `A static page (select below)` to `Your latest posts` via ‘General Settings’ (or `options-reading.php`). This meant any link via `flynnsblogs.wordpress.com/posts` won’t work and displays an empty page.

    I then tested the very basic browser display via `m.wordpress.com` of my stupid cellphone and found that I still had to scroll through at least five fields (`Blog Title`, `Tagline`, `Post Title`, `leave a comment` and the sticky post called `Recent post’) before arriving at the most recent post!

    I also decided to change the `Tagline` from ‘Just another WordPress weblog.` to ‘Copyright © 2006-2009 by Fluffy von der Flynn. All rights reserved.’ I don’t understand why my big brain couldn’t come of with stuff sooner. Instead it chose to be humorous at one time, normal with the default WordPress `Tagline` and then a proprietor to my `agents` alter identity to this weblog site.

    I set `Blog pages show at most` from `3 posts` to `10 posts`. This works well with my shortened blog entries with a maximum characters of 160 via `m.wordpress.com`. Displaying more than three posts for longer blog entries is not recommended. It would piss off the readers big time.

    For whatever reason, the IE7 browser has been displaying 135 post entries via the feeds (RSS). I’ve sent `WordPress.com Support` a ticket to find out why and they suggested that it has something to do with cache. Other browsers such as Opera and Firefox do no have problems displaying `Syndication feeds show the most recent` to my current `33 posts`.

    So these are my new stuff online. It’s great to know that my 200 minutes per month on my cellphone will be used primarily for blogging up-to-date events. It’s better than logging online upstairs, wasting electricity and hearing the hum to the loud fans of my personal computer.

    Okay, I went back to WordPress.COM theme entitled: DePo Masthead by Derek Powazek/Noel Jackson and forced myself to make a compromise by eliminating the mouse (or hover) over images to two of Gustave Dore’s illustrations found on the ‘Welcome’ and ‘Home’ pages. Notice how when one read both words out loud together it sounds like someone saying: ‘Welcome Home’. Neat!

    Last week, I wanted to try out different WordPress.COM themes and noticed that some themes already has ‘Home’ as part of its ‘Navigation’ bar feature. I found this annoying because I already had a perfect ‘Home’ page illustrating ‘God as a point of light’. And I didn’t want to duplicate ‘Home’ pages’ on the navigation (or top) bar.

    So I tried creating a ‘Welcome’ page to figure out if I could ‘bump’ the default ‘Home’ page as the second ‘bar’ to these themes but this does no good. Now I’m stuck with two ‘Front pages’ and don’t want to eliminate either one from my pages. But there was hope. And like the lights imagery found on both illustrations, I’m satiated but for a little while until I add more details to this blog.

    If it were not for my big brain scanning the deep thoughts of my small mind for the right illustration to add to the ‘Front page’, I would not have gotten this far. As a result, I edited the ‘Image Title’ to give credit to the illustrator and ‘Image Caption’ to describe the event of the illustration. I know it annoys readers to see these pages instead of ‘Recent posts’ as the ‘Front Page’ but this is my preference, much like a book with pictures in front and the text in the middle.

  • 291146-Goat Intestines

    The next door neighbor had thrown a party and out in their backyard was a potful of, well, goat intestines! My family and I couldn’t offend the Pinoys, who offered a ladle-sized portion of this swill into our bowls.

    The smell was profoundly that of unwashed ‘matter’ with the acidic taste of vinegar. All we could comment was, ‘Tastes good!’ But we chewed with our eyes filled with dry tears and swallowed each morsel until our bowls were empty.

    Actually, it wasn’t THAT bad, only it smelled like the unwashed version of chicken adobo, I think.

  • 20081024-Editing Weblog

    This time I’m trying the ‘Silver is the New Black by Gregory Auld’ theme for free via WordPress.COM. It is supposed to be ‘a clean two-column fluid-width grayscale theme with rounded corners.’ It serves my purpose for the meantime: by displaying the ‘Pages’ widget entitled ‘Main Menu’. The ‘pages’ would normally appear in the navigation bar for some theme but not for my current theme. The text widget entitled. ‘My links…’ appears below the ‘Main Menu’ widget with the ‘Archive’, ‘Calendar’, ‘Categories’, ‘Tag Cloud’, ‘Blog Stats’ and ‘Spam Blocked’ widgets following in their particular order.

    I reviewed my FlynnPaws.com site and found one damn error! One hyperlink was displayed instead of the word ‘Bookmarks’. That ruined my night. So I fixed that one and added `<a title…>` for the mouse-over information to each of my links for the header and sidebar. So far I cannot tell from the ‘Weblog Expert Lite’ program if the visitors are me or others. The report analysis shows over 300 ‘Total Hits’ per day with the ‘Average Hits per Visitor’ around 5.

    I guess I’ll keep this hosted site via Yahoo! Small Business, wait for ‘them’ to finish and then really open up a ‘small business. That would be nice to be my own boss. Then again I don’t know what the heck I’m doing or talking about. I’m really more interested about meeting people and finding out if they are ‘genuine’ or not and then blogging about my perceived interpretation of them.

    Meh! I’ve been playing around with my ‘hosted (not self) site’ via Yahoo! Small Business. All I could add to this blog entry is that my orgone site is stable with the Yahoo! Site Solutions building tool. But out of boredom, I decided to experiment with the Yahoo! SiteBuilder tool instead.

    So I moved whatever files were sitting in the ‘root directory’ to its own subfolder (or subdirectory) just in case my newly, rebuilt orgone site blows up. The linked pages to my orgone site are unfortunately ‘invisible’ and cannot be moved. But they are still viewable under its original ‘Ozark theme’.

    Yesterday, I used the Yahoo! SiteBuilder and published those files to Flynn’s Orgone several times! I had to rebuild the lost text due to problems with the `navigation bar`. I couldn’t remove the ‘default’ active, inactive and mouse-over images from the ‘menu’ items and ended up creating the ‘text’ and its ‘links’, which copied and pasted to the orgone pages, which are modeled in the exact order to the ones I’ve created using the Yahoo! Site Solutions.

    For whatever stupid reason, I deleting a theme with a black paw located on the upper left hand corner. I couldn’t remember where I downloaded that ‘Papira’ theme of beige-colored, paper background. Searching online didn’t help but after ‘restoring’ a back-up file dated 10/18/08 via my server and opening the `index.html`, I found the referring link and downloaded that nice theme again.

    That theme will now be my main home page to Flynn’s Paws. It is just one page meant to redirect the eyeballs of my reader to other working links. I still cannot figure out how to get my large .xml files from WordPress.COM to upload completely (and partially and unsuccessfully) to my ‘second’ weblog site via WordPress.ORG.

    I guess for now I’ll keep blogging here at WordPress.COM and keep the orgone pages via FlynnsPaws.com. I’m testing out a conversion for the .xml file to MS ACCESS and MS EXCEL. So far the FREE TRIAL completed half the data and I don’t know if this software program works for me. I may do a complete rebuild of copying and pasting my blogs into a table and save those as ‘html’ files. Meh!

    This morning I’ve played around with my website at ‘Flynn’s Orgone‘ by using the building tool called ‘Site Solution’ via Yahoo! Small Business. I’ve added two more pages, each with one image. The pages are called: ‘Testimonials’ and ‘FAQ’.

    For the testimonial page, I only made up one quote by moi and included a photo a ‘sylph’. For the ‘FAQ’ page, I copied the contents from my ‘Intro to Orgone’ page of this weblog site and included a photo of a ‘heart cloud’.

    Other pages to this site include photos: ten photos of orgonite pieces appear under the ‘Gallery’ page, three photos appear under the ‘Comparison’ page and two ‘drawings’ appear under the ‘About’ page and ‘Services’ page.

  • 20081005-Editing Weblog

    OMG! Since we don’t have FTP access to our post via WordPress.COM, I cannot upload my pages, posts, comments and other elements into my new ‘self-hosted’ weblog site into WordPress.ORG. I am trying to find a work around to this damn problem. In the meantime, I’ve been testing the ‘Table Maker’ of my ‘Web Hosting Control Panel’ while creating my ‘HTML’ by copying and pasting my first three blogs from February 2006 as samples. It looks simple and well center. The three sample, html’ page looks good but it’s still sitting in my subdirectory of my Yahoo! Small Business site.

    I don’t know how to archive those logically. I tried creating a ‘static page’ so I could link the main directory to my ‘posts’ but it shows a generic ‘Index’ page. That might work because the links are provided in a ‘tree’. But it’s so simple looking that I would rather have a nice ‘yellow notebook’ as a background.

    I even tried installing ‘plug-ins’ for expanding and collasping my pages via the widgets. But that didn’t work. I wanted something for the ‘pages’. I’ve seen some sites where the ‘mouseover’ on a page would expand gradually to show the ‘child pages’ to the right or bottom. I’d like to have this incorporated into my weblog site.

    So I’m trying out Microsoft Office Access 2003. It’s working out tediously since I copied and pasted only twenty-three of my old post entries from February 2003. My goal is not so much the look of each page as they are currently entered already via WordPress.COM but to show that the entries in an ‘ascending order’.

    With the click of the ‘next’ button to the right or ‘previous’ button to the left, I am able to view these post entries as they would have appeared when I entered them chronologically. I don’t know if I want this ‘htm’ document uploaded into my server. This requires ‘Active X’ controls in order to view this document.
