20090616-Daily Diary
Was gray cloudy, cold morning air. Until usually after noon, sunny. Partial clouds w/ sylphs. Maw got allergies after lunch while talking to yellow Calli Lilly.

20090615-Nice Sunset
Through the eucalyptus trees and in the distance, I see golden sunset, like yesterday. Only I see pink and orangey clouds as the blue skies appear, slowly. Nice.

20090614-Bright Night
Walking upstairs. @ landing, looked up thru window & saw 3 puff balls of sylphs w/ tail over home against most vivid blue at night & in the moonlight.

20060918-Bored Again
The current time is 08:12PM and the air feels warm. I don’t like warm and have the fan oscillating around to cool me. Work was done. Dinner was eaten. And the dishes were completed after delivering two of three pizzas to Brat in exchange for two peaches and a plastic container of red grapes from Twit.
During dinner, I’ve learned that ‘Liar Lunatic’ has been told by Maw that ‘Liar Lunatic’ is no longer her friend. The liar drove to our house and had been greeted by Maw’s screaming from her doorstep. The liar sobbed and shed her crocodile tears and claimed she meant no harm when she Maw was needed as a crying towel of problems. I told Maw don’t believe her anyone and avoid associating with her likes.
We have learned last week that a relative, ‘Hell-Lie’ has died from lung cancer as big as a fist and probably from exposure to working the assembly line in the electronics industry. The biggest lie was presented during the relative’s funeral. ‘Liar Lunatic’ believed the deceased ‘Hell-Lie’ was a summa cum laude graduate of the prestigious University of the Philippines.
If ‘Liar Lunatic’ was indeed smart, she should have been more prepared and not have been transferred to this charity hospital where she later died. Or at least she could display her diploma somewhere as ‘proof’ of her hard work to earn an accounting degree. We did not attend the old hag’s funeral due to this bio-units feud. The old town folks already warned that she was too aggressive for my more docile but deceased uncle.
The only one who cried was the youngest daughter, ‘Anal-Yen’ who took care of the mother (and perhaps other paper works to secure her future of one house in Las Vegas and another in south San Jose). I am not surprised to learn that the grandchildren did not cry since we all know how mean and nasty the old hag was during their growing years. I’m not much into eulogy but the old hag needs to be forgiven no matter what.
By the way, I did see a white butterfly hovering outside my bedroom window around 09:38AM on Sunday, 09-17-2006 while I was putting on the freshly laundered bed sheets. I remembered my other relative in the Philippines getting a visit from a similar white butterfly, which hovered around her head. She said that was my docile but deceased uncle. Come to think of it, this butterfly may have been that old hag, ‘Hell-Lie’. I wish her a good journey wherever that may be, of course.
P.S. Bored again sounds similar to born again. But this has nothing to do with Christians.’ I happen to be bored and then thought I could blog about the afterlife in the form of white butterflies. The old town folks claim these are souls.

20060517-Leasurely Limp
On Wednesday, we had lots to do with Paw having his procedure done. The day started out with me being awaken at 06:30AM by Paw who was already dressed and ready to be driven to the hospital.
Since my purpose in this lifetime has been the designated driver of the family, all three of us then went to pick up Brat at his house. We then proceeded to buy four sandwiches from the local store and two lottery tickets.
The travel was fine and lasted only fifteen minutes as long as we stayed in the carpool lane on northbound Highway 101. We made the 08:00AM check in at the front registration and were given a map to navigate inside the building towards the Radiology department. The hospital is being renovated at the front and the walking time was longer as a result.
The waiting room was not packed and was grateful the air was not stuffy to breathe. I took turns with Maw and Brat to get up and walk around to the bathroom or outside. There was little to do. Maw and I decided to have brunch of minestrone soup at the cafeteria around 10:00AM.
We waited anxiously until 11:00AM when we gave our Paw quick good luck kisses and blessings. Mel, the eighty year old man, conversed with Maw and Brat about Naval life; making models and being normal. I meditated as usual with my eyes closed to relax myself and pray for the all to be well with everyone.
Brat was hungry and wanted burgers. So we left the building around 11:30AM in search of food. I didn’t want to leave Maw alone in the waiting room but Brat was the most worried of us three. We decided to keep the parking space; leave the car and walk to the nearest burger restaurant.
My purpose was to take a leisurely walk with Brat, enjoy the scenery; get the much needed exercise and work up an appetite before consuming my food. For whatever reason, my right knee started to hurt with a definite pinch somewhere on the outside joint.
I requested Brat we turn back but he smiled at me; encouraged me forward and claimed that: ‘It is all in my mind’. I thought to myself that I could overcome this pain and limped onward but slowly with small steps, each one being gingerly taken.
The tall trees providing the cool comfort of shade from the bright noontime sun, which was beating down on us through amazingly clear blue skies. The cool breeze also made the walk pleasant as I cooled down from overheating with this form of exercise – walking.I have noticed lady bugs and pill bugs crossing our paths. I was careful not to step on anything moving and small beneath my feet. Each step was a blessing; each step increased the pain. I continued onward for thirty minutes until we reached the corner.
We then bought our meals; sat down in the stuffy restaurant and discussed him wanting to have a non-denominational marriage in Hawaii with only immediate family members. This sounded like a good plan and I am sure Twit would accept Brat’s proposal, if he only knew her ring size and when the good time would be to pop the question.
Brat and I exited the restaurant and, for whatever reason, he punched a wall (probably out of frustration) and had caused an open wound injury to his right middle knuckle. So we went to two stores; found his bandages and antibiotic; and greeted Talofa, or ‘Hello’ in Samoa, to the salesclerk named Tua.
Another thirty minutes was somewhat slower and I continued to limp behind the smiling Brat. He kept looking back at his fatter and older sister. And I tried to smile back at him in vain and complained once in a while. I noticed two ‘watchers’ along the way.
At 01:00PM, we arrived to find Maw no longer in the waiting room. We inquired and then navigated back to the main lobby to take the elevator to the fifth floor. I was weight down with sandwiches and drinks for Maw because I knew she needed something to eat.
Paw was on his back and apparently finished eating his meal with Maw attending nearby. I helped Paw drink almost every drop of the bottled water with much effort because the straw was bent out of shape. And I cleaned him up as bit before he drifted off to sleep from the sedatives.
Brat was looking tired and we were all relieved that Paw was doing fine. All three of us debated that we kids should take off for another two hours before Paw could be discharged. This was enough time for his wound to heal a bit from the surgery. So we both left at around 01:30PM.
I dropped off Brat and I did many things at home like cleaning up the house and taking a much needed shower to remove the stink of my walk. The pain in my knee was mysterious and all I could do was take over the counter medication to relieve the symptoms. Brat suggested this pain could be gout, arthritis or lack of exercise.
At 03:15PM and after receiving two of Maws calls a few minutes earlier, we both headed back to the hospital to pick up Paw. After driving 70mph, we arrived at 03:40PM to find both parents waiting at the very front of the hospital bench and sitting together like peas in a pod.
I limped back to the car and drove up to pick all three up at the loading zone. We went to the other doctor to pick up the prescription for Paw and then drove home on the carpool lane. The travel time took thirty minutes this time because of the rush hour.
As a good daughter, I did as much as I could without complaining much. As a good sister, I seem to sustain some injury while enjoying times with Brat. As a tired person, I had gone to bed early at 09:00PM and did not enter my blog for the day.
The day was worrisome but the results turned out good for all of us. Paw got another chance in life; while Maw and Brat were relieved. As for me, my lesson for the day was to improve my outlook in life by taking more leisurely walks to enjoy nature and the outdoors.

20060401-Backyard Paradise
The houses here were built upon land that used to be swamps and marshes and growing orchards of apples and oranges that no longer exist as part of each backyard. The main road of S!e#rr@ Rd.’ used to be quiet long before they opened up the dead end piles of dirt now noisy with the busy railway intersection at L^ndy Rd.
Not a dull moment could ever become of our backyard. Yesterday’s overcast and high winds blew across the foot tall lawn as the green blades bends across as if being petted by a large invisible hand. There is much cleaning up of native plants and weed and of eucalyptus leaves dried up on the ground everywhere to be done by Paw when springtime permits warm weather.
This little plot of paradise garden has been maintained mostly by Paw and he seems at peace with his surrounding. He is a quite man, who was born on May 3 and does have this down to earth Taurus patience of digging deep into ground and soil, including his obsessive compulsive to get the rubbish separated nicely from the recyclables.
He may take longer than most people to accomplish the maintenance but that is fine for him as long as the job is done right and perfectly the way he wants. So that the fruits of his hard labor could be harvested later on with the fruit trees bearing pomelo, apricot, nectarines, plums, lemons, pears and persimmons. The backyard is his territory.
Whenever we have too much fruits, we share what bountiful harvest with bio-units and friends. Some appreciate the kind gestures; others are meant to be ignored and left in the gutter like some forgotten walnut. All our relatives living in the East Bay are a bunch of ungrateful people. After leaving a bagful of fruits at each door on a fine day, one would think that a simple thank you to my bio-units, at least, would suffice.
But we know they are too busy to care because they are working sixteen hours to pay off their egos. I shouldn’t sound so bitter but I did and had to drive with Maws pleadings to deliver these bags of fruits. Her logic, according to her mother, is to treat the relatives of the in-laws nicely.
We try to make her understand that this was not her destiny to be treated nicely in return from my own cold-hearted kin folks, whose remind me of a bunch of angry, hissing nagas.
(He-he: I don’t know much about my bloodline or ancestry but this is as close a description I could think of to explain very territorial attitudes of people from a province in Philippines called Batangas on Paw side).
I remember as a child looking at a particular photo of a completely white snake appearing from the page of our old Encyclopaedia. Each look at the snake’s head popping out gave me heart jolting fears that I had to cross train myself to view the photo longer and eventually to touch the photo.
Now I know better that snakes are part of the grand design. We don’t have snakes in the backyard but there used to be crickets making noise into the night now paved over with cement, monarch caterpillars eating the milkweed that used to grow in the backyard, gophers digging large holes through our lawn, hoards of flies buzzing into spider webs and a big toad that hopped away never to be seen again.
Times have indeed changed in lifestyles, attitudes and people that I’ve met along the way. I know that someday, people would all be nicer and stop being a bunch of hard headed nuts. People should learn to enjoy their own backyard like Paw, who happens to like walking outdoors. He’d pace back and forth while bundled up in two layers of jacket with one hooded and a baseball cap to finish the image of a toasty chestnut.
