  • 20070827-Urgent Notice

    A certified letter today
Shows what current balance to pay
Within ten (10) days have yet to owe
    From economic hardship flow!
    Raise the levy, late penalty
Interest charges — none for free!

    Nothing real or personal
Seize to collect from this poor gal!
    Nothing old, borrowed or blue
    Transparency of legal sue
Nothing owned but one paid-off car
    Wishing away the jailhouse bar

A shiny knight to save her days
And brotherhood to whom she prays.
With helping hand to lift her up
And other good to fill her cup
A special guy with her in mind —
A robin hood among her kind.

Another ‘last minute collection’ of three, six-lined stanzas with seven syllables. Blah!

  • 20070825-Final Notice

Oh, the pain! Please let me go!
By the twisting of my arms
    And plastics around my wrists
    Choking blood to my hands
    Hardworking to earn a life
Now dead weights and shriveled off

Oh, the pain! Please get off me!
By the monkey on my back
And long fangs into my flesh
    Sucking upon my life force
    Whipping hard by master’s stick
    Now broken beyond repair

Oh, the price: blood, sweat and tears!
By the power of G-d’s grace
    His small electronic cards
    Savings beyond nil, nada
Waiting game – a hide and seek
    Now temporarily free

A ‘last minute collection’ of three, six-lined stanzas with seven syllables.

  • 20070825-Paper Tigers

Another financial parody based on the lyrics of ‘Paper Roses’.

The real lies the day your guise aggrieved me.
With lenders, crooks and agents booked thereof.
So squirrel away the monies that you sold me
And spend the find that lined one’s pocket glove.

    Paper tigers, paper tigers —
Oh, how surreal those tigers guarantee!
    Rides of market fluctuations
Fear and trepidations, far from free.

I thought that you were working under cover.
You seemed to pull down money with your charts.
But like the instruments they’re made of paper.
There isn’t any monkey throwing darts.

    Paper tigers, paper tigers —
Oh, how surreal those tigers guarantee!
    Rides of market fluctuations
Fear and trepidations, far from free.

Echo: Fear and trepidations, far from free.

  • 20070823-Henpecked Husband

‘Puck, puck, puck’: doo dis, doo dat!
    Takot ba sa asawa?
    Gusto under di saya?

    Literal translation
    :
[Sounds of chicken]: do this, do that!
Are you afraid of your spouse?
    Like being under her skirt?

Second attempt at diona – a Filipino poetry of three-lined stanza, with seven syllables in monorhyme.

Author’s note: Discussed phrases associated with nagging in a marriage while walking around Milpitas, CA with Paw.

  • 20070825-New Home

Did they leave old granny behind?
Because they think she lost her mind?
    Don’t wait until you die
Live to the fullest: not confined,
    Nor forgetful, deaf and blind!
    Better to laugh and cry!

First attempt at Rime Couée (of 8-8-6-8-8-6 syllables in aabaab rhyme) about old granny being stuck in the nursing home.

  • 20070820-Financial Being

    Prison walls are falling down,
    Falling down, falling down,
    Prison walls are falling down,
    All illusions.

Find a slave and set her free,
Set her free, set her free,
Find a slave and set her free,
    All illusions.

How will atom bonds break down,
Bonds break down, bonds break down,
How will atom bonds break down,
    All illusions.

Take down ‘life’ with love and peace,
Love and peace, love and peace,
Take down ‘life’ with love and peace,
    All illusions.

Hate and fear is all we have,
All we have, all we have,
Hate and fear is all we have,
    All illusions.

Take down Darkness with True Light
With True Light, with True Light,
Take down Darkness with True Light,
    All illusions.

All True Lights leave time and space,
Time and space, time and space,
All True Lights leave time and space,
    All illusions.

Take down matter, won by One,
Won by One, won by One,
Take down matter, won by One,
    All illusions.

    No more masters, no abuse,
    No abuse, no abuse,
    No more masters, no abuse,
    All illusion.

Take down money, crash and burn,
Crash and burn, crash and burn,
Take down money, crash and burn.
    All illusions.

Love and Light is here to stay,
Here to stay, here to stay,
Love and Light is here to stay,
    All illusions.

    Virtual reality,
    Fracturing, fracturing,
    Virtual reality,
    All illusions.

An esoteric poem of twelve stanzas with 7-6-7-4 pattern.

Author’s note: Based on a nursery rhyme ‘London Bridge Is Falling Down’ and inspired by article entitled ‘Crashing Finances‘ by Amitakh Stanford on 08-20-2007.

  • 20070823-Per Cushion

    Aum: I’m ‘starving’ almighty One!
Drums beats pounding, thy will be done
Cymbals clanging in my ear holes
Bang my gong, hit my singing bowls
Rattle my senses, beat my blocks
Strike upon my dark vocal box
Sound the sirens! Honk your car horns!
Ringing phones like a crown of thorns

‘Mr. Tambourine’ plays for me —
The sounds of truth setting me free.
Is my world too noisy for you?
Please be happy not ‘Song Sung Blue’.
Who said there is anything wrong?
If I am right, please sing me your song.

You alone need to take a hint.
Don’t mess with my fiery flint.
    Illusions of reality
    Thanks for your finality

I want to run but cannot hide.
I know you are my inner guide.

Another long-head but resounding poem with eight syllables.

Author’s note: Started out with four quatrains and then added four more lines about percussion instruments and more philosophy; hence the title of soft ‘cushions’ needed to plug the ears from going deaf due to loud music.

  • 20070822-Colony Crud

Who came here first: The reptoids or the gods?
What’s coming next: The military squads?
‘We do not know,’ said a Voice from above.
‘Why do you ask? There’s nothing here but love.’

Because we’re back and claiming what is ours:–
Tomorrow’s world by the heavenly stars.
Today for good is better than your wars.
We don’t give a damn! This world is not yours!

Two more quatrains with ten syllables in aabb, ccdd pattern about .

Author’s note: Based on the burlesque sketch entitled ‘Who’s on First?’ (1944) by Abbott and Costello and combined with urban legends surrounding ‘a supposed secret underground facility in or near’ –Dulce– , New Mexico.

  • 20070822-Internal Warrior

Whenever you come across a fight
Always concentrate with all your might
Running away won’t turn back times
Revenge won’t heal those broken crimes
Instead stand up and choose a side
Offer your Truth, try not to hide
Remember well there is no wrong
Study each day and become strong

An acrostic poem for ‘warriors’ with eight syllables in aabbccdd pattern.

    You are feeling ballsy
    And having too much fun

    With QANGO parodied
    Beware the jackboot hammer
    Contractors cast aside.

  • 20070820-Fading Memory

I look at you and your full face.
Trying to read your moving lips
    Silent words form blindingly fast:
Much too fast for my eyes to see.

    I cannot understand your words
    Straining to hear misty sounds
What? Hello! An echo from the past?
Alas, the moment is gone for good.

Author’s note: Eeek! Tried to evolve from quatrains but couldn’t! For those who wish to merge those extra wide, open spaces between each verse (or a line), try <Shift+Enter> instead of a hard <Enter> after each line or sentence.
