20091017-Peeps Chicken
While waiting one friggin’ hour to get our hair done, Maw and I (and the rest of the customers) watched an old video (on public broadcasting) of Julia Child.
The presentation was about the `peeps of chicken`and how:
- to tell what age of chicken to use for what type of recipe (young for roasting and old hen for soup);
- to tell the approximate age of the chicken from the base of the breastbone (young, if cartilage or old, if bone); and
- to prepare a rotisserie chicken.
- Stuff with parsley, chopped shallots (which looked like purple garlic cloves) and French tarragon;
- Wrap well with LOTS of string by using a needle through the skins of the knees and over through the elbows with the neck stitched closed in between.
- Place blanch bacon (by boiling 10 minutes to take out the saltiness and smoke flavor) on top of theb ird and wrapping some more with string;
- Lock the metal skewers into place and on either end of the bird and adding more strings to prevent the bird from falling off in case the bird shrinks during the cooking process; and
- Roast the bird for two and one half hour.

Was gray, cloudy and cold this morning. Was sunny, clear clue skies with warm breeze and crispy air the rest of the day. Now some sylphs in the distance and cold air. Warm afternoon sun, too.
Saw small bird(s) fly over grass in backyard, capturing whatever foodstuff located in that area.

Saturday October 10 at 5, my program guest will be the Commander of the Third Fleet, Vice Admiral Richard Hunt, USN and on Sunday at 6, my guest will be Commander Gary Hicks, Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Third Fleet, USN. They’re both in SF for Fleet Week.
Also, on Sunday at 5, my guests will be Mrs. Madeleine Pickens (T.Boone’s wife), and football greats June Jones, SMU Head Coach and Rober Staubach, NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback.
We’ll be talking about Madeleine’s project to protect the wild mustangs, her Wild Horse foundation and the big event on Oct 17th at the Gerald Ford Stadium in Dallas for the game between SMU and Navy.
Jones and Stauback (and a raft of other notables) are working with Mrs. Pickens to support her project to provide a safe refuge for the wild horses that are left, and to work against the BLM plan to kill them.
As per my previous blog entry and probably a few years ago, I’ve sent to Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) a generic request (or petition) via The Human Society of the United States.
Forward to year 2009, I wonder why wild mustangs, burros, donkeys, mules, ponies, etc. are still being mistreated and slaughtered (i.e. after being `retired` from profit-seeking horse races).

Awoke to cold and low gray clouds. Now sunny, clear blue skies with coolness after awakening to afternoon nap of one hour. Swept leaves from backyard earlier this afternoon, not speaking to visitor. Saw little baby birds bathing in birdbath earlier this mid-morning after attending morning mass and shopping for watermelons, Filipino eggplants at SeaFood City, vitamins at CVS, and food at Valerio Bakery.

Been hearing the sounds of geese honking southbound for the evenings in the past few days.
Been seeing white butterflies fluttering through the vegetable plants in the backyard.
Been enjoying our small backyard and the warmer sun this afternoon.
Been sleeping restfully upstairs this afternoon, awaking refreshed after one hour or so, as the bright sunlight filters through the blinds and blankets me in warmth.

Today’s was friggin warm. Like yesterday, there was sunny, clear blue skies. But the color appeared slightly white-washed for most of the summer and not the NORMAL deep shade of blue. Early morning birds came to bathe. The parakeets made lots of LOUD noises for the past few days.

Sunny, clear blue skies w/ some sylphs & chems. Cool in morn then warm thru nite. Saw 2 small birds w/ greenish, yellow belly bathing & 1 robin hopping on lawn.

Sunny, clear blue skies with lots of cool air. Cool breeze as hummingbird visited flowering, pink hibiscus plant and as small birds bathe in birdbath.

Sunny, clear blue w/ moderate but cool breeze. Saw same hummingbird feed off hibiscus & big, bushy-tailed gray squirrel trampling over Maw’s potted plants, hah!

20090905-Much Cooler
This morning gray clouds broke free to reveal sylphs and clear blue skies. After attending a healing mass of oil to the forehead from 11:00am to 12:30pm, after eating lunch for about one hour and while burning sweet, green peppers freshly harvested from our front and back yards upon the double burning in the backyard, the very cool wind blew strongly around 14:00pm. I was thinking about the eyes of dolphins, iguana, angel fish and parakeets and most importantly the potential REMEDY to my situation.
Alas, despite being financially abused by TPTB OVERSEAS for the past nine slong years, the blessing in disguise (prior to roasting Maw’s green peppers) was not only taking a couple of photos showing three baby doves sitting on the red fence near the CB created by J—/Sensei, another one sitting on the bird bath and unfortunately not the one resting under the cool shade of our short lemon tree, too, but seeing up close the same hummingbird tasting the nectar of a fully bloomed hibiscus tree shrub. It sports over a dozen or sort flowers!
