  • 20060326-Outpace Life

The change of pace is what I need the most by walking past the doors of my home and towards the outdoors anywhere for starters. Going to work does not count as being outside the house, because I’d end up sitting down all over again and stuck in a cubicle. I know I’ll need to go on a vacation soon for I’ve not traveled outside of the Bay Area.

Cycling on the streets where people, sun, trees and birds abound or hiking on the hill overlooking the bay or sleeping under the stars and moons a few times are two outdoor activities that seem simple enough to enjoy. I’ve not roughed the outdoors and camping for once seems like a good early retirement option to undertake.

Exploring during a mini-vacation is what my senses could do like: wiggling toes into surf and sand; listening to the sea gulls above head or children at play with sand castles or smelling someone’s barbecue beef bones and smoking pots of corn burning nearby.

Singing is fun in front of strangers. My voice, according to my relatives in Chicago, has a unique high and airy sound when I impressed them during an entertainment on their karaoke over there. Most Filipinos have a least one karaoke at home. I never did own one of those noise makers.

Dancing is fun to the beat of deafening music under the glaring laser lights all around, while trying to act cool as an intoxicated person at the bar scene and pretending to like the smell of cigarettes blowing into my face when the more refined scent of cigars is more preferable to kiss, did not do me any justice. I, however, do not look graceful enough on the floor.

Outdoor life seems full of adventure. And I wonder if I already missed out on too much in life while wondering if there is an audience who would care about what I have to say let alone what a picture of me could paint. I am perplexed that faceless strangers especially with online chatters barely have anything important to share.

There seems to be the ability to empower oneself to expand the potential of human conditions outside the confines of indoor living or of inward musings but to know actual freedom from want and desire, from anger and pain, from fear and prejudice towards unconditional love.

I tend to idealize and believe practicing unconditional love means living and sharing this truth every moment with others whether indoor or outdoors. There are different tools and techniques that are useful to improve one’s personal sphere and people who guide and who have been guided along this path of becoming nicer and of being wiser.

Perhaps being indoors is as good as being outdoors because each one of us creates a comfort zone and a reality that others may share. I find that blogging is my first step in building self confidence and that finding a good travel agent and destination package is the next step; so I could take pictures of people and places outdoors and further blog about my experiences indoors.

  • 20060326-Family Unit

At the age of thirteen I knew that I didn’t belong to this bio-units unit. My views in life differed from theirs. We were the oldest relative in the United States and didn’t have anyone of them to rely on for help.

So that meant I couldn’t be adopted into some other bio-units unit and was forced to stay with this one for whatever reasons. I was a spoiled brat but learned to overcome my slow evolution in this life time over the years.

The lessons learned with this bio-units unit are fine for the meantime. And for those keeping up with my blogs know that there have been dramas going on with Brat, the only and oldest male first cousin on Paw’s left to move out the bio-units’ house.

I happen to be the oldest first cousin on Paw’s side and will end up living the rest of my contented life in this already paid-off (1990) house (1976 models). (I think the house worth a lot now but prefer to know that my little nephew and nieces, if any, will be welcomed here to enjoy the place as much as we have).

We kids are spoiled to this day and did whatever chores were needed around the house and garden. And if living was not this comfortable here in the suburbs of San Jose, CA Brat and I would have moved on with our personal lives years ago.

I’ve seen our younger cousins having other issues with egoistic bio-units, being “cool” with the East Bay crowd and ended up moving on with their egoistic lives too. I see a distinct pattern here between bio-units and children, don’t you?

I didn’t learn much on my own beyond these walls of home until recently through the outlet of the internet with various articles online and blogging right now. The television had much information during my growing years and recently stopped viewing the black box due to repeated themes of brainwashing events on popular cable news media.

I find viewing the inner working mechanisms of our political bureaucracy on a couple of cable channels to be more educational once in awhile. And the speeches of the politicians are more carefully worded and eloquently spoken compared to the general media driven programming meant for seventh grade understandings.

Anything related to history, fine arts, international films and educational programming in general is better to view once in awhile and I try to avoid the already predictable outcome of most heavily commercialized movies. I hardly go in those crap and darkly lit movie theaters.

Brat is my other source of ‘real’ life interests and I have him to thank for sharing his happy moments with me such as his interest in video games and knowledge in computers, his hand models of various sorts cluttering up his bedroom and his insights of people he met, love that came and went and life about little things that didn’t matter in general.

My bio-units still value their traditions for the sake keeping their bio-units unit together and share their basic wisdom of saving money for the rainy days, working hard to foster a sense self esteem and pride without depending on others for hand outs (like some ungrateful relatives I keep mentioning) and respecting the older folks because everyone will be old one day.

What I have learned so far is that bio-units units are especially important to maintain. This provides stability in society and keeps children safe from those disgusting predators that prey upon and harm our future for humanity. Stable bio-units units also continue the cycle of passing good luck, happiness and joy from one generation to the next, from parent to children and from ancestors to descendants.

Starting a life with the biological bio-units unit that fosters love is the ideal. People living in the same biological bio-units unit that doesn’t have the love matrix should be allowed to live with those who care enough to take their wards under their wings for protection and to continue the cycle of more loving bio-units units.

Child protection services and adoption agencies do not seem to be working to the advantages of these children, who need places to stay and grow into loving individuals. I am dismayed at the slow progress and demand improvements right now and more financial support in this social arena. There are many souls behind these young eyes that have the opportunity to find their niche in society and not be left behind and forgotten in the endless papers and moving.

I am thinking of adopting a nice bio-units, which may be Brats’ bio-units or some nice guy with cute kids, since I cannot stand the idea of making my own. I may produce at least one child in this lifetime with all that painful labor I’ve been hearing about from these women. I am an idealist and there is always room for love, especially when there are two extra rooms upstairs for those who need it now that Brat will be moving out. But those are two plans in the future.

  • 20060326-Eat Now!

Maw! When’s dinner?” I holler to her as my stomach grumbled in frustration. “I’m hungry! [Let’s] eat now!” In order to avoid upsetting the cook, I eat whatever she feeds her family. This cook does painstaking work to prepare each meal made with love and from the sweat of her brow. “Come and get it!” she replies.

This verbal stimulus causes the salivation response and we’d all come “running” to the table. Well, except Paw because he tends to do other compulsive chores around the house before eating with the family.

We are trained to eat together as a family unit. Each unit member had to assume the normal position and as it stands with Maw at the ‘head’ of the table and Paw to her right, with Brat and myself to his right and front, respectively. The Filipino culture is a matriarchal society, which allows the women free reign in decision-making especially around the house.

Most Filipino dishes are meaty flavored drowned in tasty sauce. We seldom eat fresh salad and vegetables because the logic of Maw is to have the meals well cooked. There are some Filipino dishes that are similar to Vietnamese and Chinese cooking, such as bitter melon and fried rice, respectively. I guess I grow tired of eating Filipino food and am already too familiar with the American continental variety.

All the food I seem to eat taste the same and bland, like tofu which I love. Anything too hot or spicy burns my tongue and mouth, including Indian food, which I could tolerate to a point. I’ve tried the exotic Ethiopian food, which is good to eat. However, it’s time for me to explore more tantalizing tastes out there.

Our eating habits have been the normal three course meals, which I do not understand since today’s nuclear family unit of being on the go and eating out has replaced the traditional farming household of working the fields by pa and kids while attending the cooking and indoor activities by ma and kids.

I often wonder why we need to eat in the first place. Eating is necessary to feed the metabolism of us warm-blooded mammals; while eating a well balance diet promotes a healthy human body. I wouldn’t miss a day without eating my favorites of all sorts, especially the kinds that would clog the arteries. I am not a picky eater.

Since we have been blessed with all this abundance in foodstuff, the idea of bullying ourselves from the pleasures of feeding our emotional appetites is simply denial. I should not be this selfish and should share my scout cookies I bought with my hard earned pennies.

My opinions on different cuisines are very limited and I do not offer any personal advice on which taste better from the other. Moreover, my sense of smell is limited and I cannot fully enjoy what more sensitive people experience when tasting broccoli or spinach. I happen to like both vegetables by the way.

I figured I’d save some of what’s left of my money by staying at home and personally do not cook. That’s because, like I said in my prior blog somewhere, eating tastes much better when prepared by someone else with a more discerning palate.

Besides, Maw cooks almost everyday and one doesn’t not argue with the cook. Maybe when and if I ever move from this house, I may actually cook what I like and lose the weight I’ve gained, which is understandingly from Maws cooking.

She knows it’s not her cooking that makes me a bit thick today, it’s my hearty appetite. Both Paw and I happen to have inherited this trait from Lola Loose, who originally came from Bicol, one of thousands of provinces in the Philippines. This means there are several thousands of dialects as well as the types of food cooked by people there. The island is too diverse.

This current arrangement does not help my evolving eating attitudes of avoiding any and everything the smells good from Maws kitchen. If I could stop eating altogether, I may have more time either to blog or to watch television. And yes, Shrimpsei, there is a television located near the dinner table.

  • 20060326-Scary Stuck

It is scary having to worry about being stuck in the middle of nowhere and not knowing what to do or where to go. The only other time my Mustang failed to start was in the parking lot of a temporary job up in the Alameda County some three years ago prior to getting this current full time employment in Santa Clara, CA.

It was summer and the air was very hot. I was one of the last people to leave this building and did not have to keys for this place.

I tried starting my car many times over. I tried adjusting the automatic transmission to make sure it was on ‘Park’, tried rocking the machine back and forth while still seated and tried to disable the alarm manually from the steering column and with my remote control. Click, click went the alarm and still no good. The engine was dead and I was sitting in the car without the air conditioner working. I was worried.

I couldn’t figure out what went wrong. At least I had my cell phone and the battery is running low. Great, this made this situation much harder. Good thing ‘Squirrel-Ling’ answered the phone and told me to try putting the transmission on ‘Neutral,’ which I did and the car rolled slightly forward into the bushes up front because I didn’t set the parking brakes. This didn’t work either.

I started to panic and tried leaving phone messages to (once again) ungrateful relatives living two minutes down the road. This was not helping and as a last resort had to call the insurance company on what remaining batter power I had left on my cell phone. This was such unfortunate luck on us temporary workers! I didn’t have cash on me but luckily had something left on my seven credit cards.

The tow truck wouldn’t arrive for another one hour! And the sun was already setting in an unfamiliar neighborhood in the middle of an industrial park with no one else in sight. It’s was another creepy moment for me.

At least the weather started cooling off and had to use the restroom badly too! This was not good and had to try starting this engine soon or I’ll have to answer to nature behind the many bushes I mentioned earlier. This was an insufferable time in my life.

I tried starting the engine again and it worked! Oh, the joyous sound of purring engines gave me relief. I managed to call the insurance company and cancel the request when my cell phone went dead. I told myself to buy the phone charger for hooking up to cars next time.

I found out later on that if I lifted the rubber covering over the steering column and blew into it this would cool down and the alarm system enough for me to start the engine. Being stranded is not fun and if I wasn’t a strong willed individual I’d cry and became a hopeless mound of sorrow.

Being scared and stuck is no fun at all especially when one is alone or at night to make matters worse. I’ve been lucky enough many times to avoid being and feeling left to my own devices. I know that there is support of real people or helpers of unknown forces. No one is ever truly in any danger with some faith at least.

  • 20060326-Blogger Cares

Why should I care what my readers think about my platitudes of blogs?

The reasons for my blogs are: allow the readers to figure out if what I compose are either fictitious stories or real events; save much needed energy for chewing my food instead of becoming long winded and out of breath from flapping my lips too much and avoid embarrassing moments like stammering or pausing in the middle of thinking while trying to find the rights words to say.

If you care enough to read further, I care about improving my self image and shortening my blogs. If you notice in my previous blogs, I gained the ability to take at least one word, make it my entry title and compose approximately one hour’s worth of platitudes.

I care to blog about important factors that affect me but still have a difficult time trying to define all the available words found an ordinary English dictionary. How could my beautiful mind possibly utilize the many English words in the proper context effectively? I am my own editor and my best critic.

I care to express my thoughts with the right words and in the right order to my readers. You will find edited versions of current and older blogs due to grammatical and spelling errors, long and fragmented sentences, of course, proper word usage. So it is better to check back every other day to make sure you got the updated ones to compare with the old blogs.

I care about being perfect to a certain point to find myself a bit anal retentive. Everything has to have a place or else be lost in the clutter that may get in the way for the bumping of toes.

My work area, for example, is so organized and quite dull due to lack of any creative eye candy for the co-workers. A new employee could figure out what areas could be taken over at my desk.

I could leave work at any time without having to pack my personal effects because there is the same fan that blows the bad odor away from my cubicle and a mirror to remind me to always put on that happy-smiley, crazed-grin sunshine on my beautiful face for the world to see.

My weakness has been in communicating verbally due to this karma of not asserting myself openly, not being heard clearly and being misunderstood mostly. People don’t hear me well either because I tend speak softly and haven’t yet learned to project my voice in the right amount of volume.

That is why I avoid communicating over my cell phone that hardly rings, the home phone that is used for faxes and the work phone that never gets answered no matter how urgent. And answering my phone and emails at work in a timely manner doesn’t count as urgent because no one could possibly die from missing A/R payments. I may be a mean person at times but that is my attitude. Hello, can you hear me?

My strength, however, is being able to compose blogs almost everyday and in longer durations because it is almost like playing piano. Over the years, my fingers and hands have been trained with arpeggio exercises on the piano and as a result increased in strength and endurance to keep up the fast pace of typing at work. Up and down went my fingers for an hour or so every week for a few years during my childhood.

As long as I’m interested and able, I care about blogging until my fingers no longer work in unison with my brain. I care too much about my blogs that I’ve edited my original blog of ‘20060308-Platitudes Care’ and took its contents to create this new blog.

  • 20060325-Tread Water

Gases become solid through frost formation.
Solids change to gas is sublimation.
Solids melt into the new form of liquids.
Liquids turn back into solid by freezing.
    Liquids evaporate to vapor gases.
    Condensation forms liquids on eyeglasses.

Steam is good in the spa and sauna.
Rain is good for flora and fauna.
Ice is good during the cold winter days.
Ice cubes are good under the sunshine rays.

Steam is not good for the sensitive skins.
Rain is not good for the flooding victims.
Ice is bad for novice snow skiers.
Frost is bad for any blind sightseers.

Which of the states of water is preferred?
To decide which form is best is absurd.
Water sustains life on this abundant earth.
Water is priceless and more that it’s worth.

Every form has a simple, grand design.
To alter designs is for the Divine.
Those who would try have a burden at stake
and are responsibility if they partake.

  • 20060324-Donuts Bagels

Free donuts and bagels are good to eat.
There is the Friday mornings of people to greet.

I help myself to one donut and one bagel.
I eat at my desk not at the lunch room table.
I’ve not eaten much of the company’s free snacks.
I’d come to work late because I want to relax.

All these years here have been back breaking hard work.
Futile are my efforts as a cubicle clerk.
Blogging and ranting are done online or at work.
Whenever I have the chance, I smile my big smirk.

I do eat my donuts and bagels together.
I read articles or view the world’s cool weathers.
This is a small balance of work and life each day.
Activities make me feel like a child at play.

My work cubicle is without any house chores.
I make paper noises, open and close drawers.
My activities online should not matter to see.
I am worthy for these people really owe me.

Some have their dirty secrets and well hidden plans.
They do smell metallically of green eggs and ham.
I read articles of their many futile goals.
Eating these remind me of certain profound holes.

  • 20060323-New Keet

Bugsy the parakeet came to our home today.
He has purple and white feathers and jumps to play.
Bugsy is very young his voice squeaked so lightly.
I knew right away he would sing loud and brightly.

Fat Budgie poked him away for coming too near.
They won’t get along because Budgie’s not his peer.
TC and her four kids were behaved as can be.
They perched together and ate their parakeet seeds.

His clipped wing feathers will grow each and every day.
They will fly together but not too far away.
They along fine but are tucked in for the night.
I’ll see them tomorrow and hope they are alright.

I welcome this new parakeet and hope he’ll stay.
His makes me happy after others flew away.
Bugsy’s tomorrow will be a new beginning.
There are four females of friendship for his preening.

  • 20060323-Simply Being

I compose my blogs and edit more.
My head, limbs and back would feel so sore.
Everyday I would sit without fail.
My efforts either take flight or sail.

I give myself only two hours.
One blog is finished like dusk flowers.
I compose until the late of night
or until there’s nothing left to write.

I find I could do only so much.
I try not to make life my old crutch.
I learned to blog in ones month’s short time.
I wrote poetry well with each rhyme.

I learned much with my abilities
    through the open possibilities.
It does not take too much to employ
the innate skills to share and enjoy.

My writing is my new found hobby
and without the likes of a hubby.
Close people don’t know of these passions
instead they buy the latest fashions.

The world is full of hopes, tears and fears.
My life has been filled with joy and cheers.
Life’s moments are in the here and now.
Good people warms as one would allow.

A messenger is me, who would fight.
A reporter is me, who would write.
I’m human in a special way.
I’ve shared myself and my world each day.

For hidden truths from masters or me,
first look within and know you are free.
From us beings above or below,
    connect outside under sunlight glow.

  • 20060323-Dodging Ball

    On the playground, elementary school,
we played dodge ball and ran around like fools.
One by one the ball handler made the throws.
And one of us would feel the painful blows.

I wore my mini red dress so pretty.
My ponytails wagged like a small kitty.
One by one the players inside tagged out.
I dodged the red ball and stuck my tongue out.

As the last one for a few minutes more,
the game went on but became a big bore.
This way and that way I’d wonder what was next.
A guy cornered me and I was perplexed.

Dodge ball game is mean to fun and quick.
None should have this one fine ball to kick.
Those that think they know the truth from me
don’t perceive the facts and don’t truly see.

In this game of truth or dare, be aware:
dropping the ball is followed by prayers.

    So there!

The icon world goes around and around.
Webpage is blank and website is not found.
    As I sit like an angry commuter;
I stare blankly at this slow computer

Where is the speed in the blink of an eye,
when white collar workers break down and cry?
Slow online connections and computers too
lead to frustration as we slowly brew.

The website worked and I smiled my big smirk.
My blog is as productive as this clerk.

  • 20060322-Dogging Trouble

“She is a weird one!” They would often say.
“Here comes trouble! Let’s keep out of her way.”
These strange people behave like I’m prey.
Why do they tease and taunt like kids at play?

Some adults are weird and seem immature.
Their inner child and prankish ways seem pure.
Am I wrong to feel bad by their muses?
It feels like having these life long bruises.

The real world should stop adult beatings
from spouses or friends who like slap sticking.
People should greet each other, ‘How are you?’
instead of wondering why they are true.

Why are you weird for not being the same
and stay forever in our hurtful games?
Labels of wicked witch or plain crazy
are harsh in a world that is dim and quite hazy.

Through my eyelash streaked tears of betrayal,
my hate becomes but improved portrayals.
The hissings of victims are divided.
Their cold hearts are conquered with swords guided.

A smug-faced bulldog watches from the hills.
He lifts his leg and pronounces his spills.
Her bad dog was not trained well enough.
She ended up scooping that stinky stuff.
After all that and with her dog nearby,
their good friendship will forever be nigh.
