20250218-1828. Greetings, chumps! It’s the evening and I’m still meditating upon the status of how to PERFECT my KJV audio bible project.

So I’ve finished the general layout based on my app. I know there’s an app for this stuff. But I wanted to make my own for my own use. And it’s still NOT what I wanted.

Anyways, I had to create 66 Navigation menus, each containing a Page Link to the “previous” book designated with a double left arrow “<<“, followed by a Page Link for the current bible book view and followed by a Page Link to the “next” book designated with a double right arrow “>>”.

My previous Content version was too cluttered and included Table of Contents block for the Chapters and Navigation block for the Verses. The Details blocks were VERY useful for the “drop-down” feature of each Chapter.

So my current Content version includes only the Justified Centered Group of Navigation block, Audio block with Caption reading as: Listen to audio Bible of [whatever is the KJV bible book name here] and the Justified Left Group of Chapters set inside the Details block.

My ultimate goal to the create lots of two-way links among the books, chapters and verses! Hehe!

I forgot to add that in order to achieve the similar layout of the KJV Bible app, I had to customize a template, which removes the header. The footer still contains the Credits to the Theme and Host and my copyrighted stuff. But I included the Navigation block which contains links to all 66 bible books.

20250214-2301. I just ran my paid upgrade Jetpack Boost, which displayed a higher letter grade of A or Mobile Score point of 93. But without the Jetpack Boost, the Jetpack free would show the Mobile Score much lower at 84.

After switching multiple themes, the Mobile Score was averaging around letter B and one time letter C! I know right then and there that the system did NOT like clutter!

So in an attempt to make my stuff load up after due to constant updating of Critical CSS and since networking connectivity plays a huge role in loading time, I had NO choice but to rethink and delete my customized Front Page template and temporarily use my customized Blog Home template.

There’s really nothing else to add to a defunct weblog site after I found another inspiration from a weblog site via clicking the link from my Jetpack Boost and reading the online documentation about Jetpack Boost Critical CSS!

After reading the article, I clicked on their “blog” located in their header. Lo and behold! I could see some sort of “Elementor” web-building site design vibes!

I liked it and studied the layout and that’s when I decided to tweaking my customized Blog Home template and used one of the many available Patterns called “Blog Posts”.

Their blog page had a simple layout of three columns and 24 blog “posts”. Each “excerpt” sported an image on top of the linked Header and then the paragraph followed by category/tag and author/date. That looked simple enough.

I that’s all I could do: plug and play/design. I added lots of Spacer blocks to give it the feel of the other blog page, only mine is lacking the colorful images.

20250214-1944. Welp, I had to realigned the elements to both header and footer because I want it PERFECT!

I was meditating upon John Jr going back potentially to theme Twenty-Twenty. So last night I sampled the layout by taking screenshots. But I did NOT like the OLD way: I needed my Gutenberg blocks! Argh!

So I switched back to my favorite theme Blank Canvas, which once again handles my stuff pretty good. And this is possible with paid upgrade plan to include “plug-ins”.

Anyways, I had to pull-up one of the available patterns for the Header and reused my favorite Footer with columns pattern.

I had to set the background color to both Header and Foot to my favorite basic dark and black. The “Content” is basic light and white for those with eyeball problems.

Yeah, so I was NOT achieving the perfect alignment by using Group, Row or Stack from the default Header pattern.

And so I had to use the Column block set to three columns and center align all my stuff.

Then I had to rework my Navigation menus perfectly by studying how the heck theme Twenty-Twenty got that Desktop Extended Menu to appear squished!

Lo and behold! I simply created a Submenu item labeled as Menu! And I clicked and dragged my linked “Pages” underneath the main “Menu”. Voila!

Now I have my Site Title, Menu and newly created teaser called “To the pit”, which is an internal jump link for “scrolling” quickly without really scrolling towards down below, with the complimentary teaser called “To the top”, which is also an internal jump link for “scrolling” quickly without really scrolling towards up above.

It worked out beautifully enough that I was able to set my Site Title to HUGE or XL but NOT XXL because that’s too large.

I have to break due to my elderly father making his usual hungry triple tweet/eat, tweet/eat and tweet/eat.

20250214-1751. For my four projects, I wanted to use the Table of Contents block to help me “jump” to the correct “page” or “section” of my page.

So when I inserted the Table of Contents block above the “Elementor Hero” pattern, there are three lines of headers: H5, H1 and H6. The Table of Contents was stubborn and kept picking-up the very first header, which was the welcome line or H5 header.

I was frustrated and had NO choice but to “transform” the Headers into Paragraphs and “memorized” how the fonts/size/text behaved. Thankfully the H5 and H6 header just maintained their letter heights, spacings and sizes, except the cases in which the H6 header which was all Capitalized but then transformed to regular lowercases; while the H5 header retained all Capital letters. (I guess I already had all the letters typed-out as Capitalized letters.

But for the H1 header, I had to change the text setting size to XXL or 2XL. And that looked like the same before I transformed the H1 header into a paragraph.

Now the behavior of the Table of Contents was set and good to go.

I couldn’t remember how the hierarchies looked before I almost I messed up projects. Thankfully (again), I have my OLD archives from several imports and that helped to speed up the cloning/recreation of my OLD projects.

20250214-1220. Like I said, here is the latest discovery while tweaking one my projects.

Earlier, I was trying to clean-up my extra/redundant Navigation menus, especially for my four projects.

I knew that I wanted to delete the four Navigation menu, which contained the hash tag or pound sign for internal jump-page links.

So I tweaking that one project page and inserted the Table of Content block.

I already had the Detail block inserted because I wanted a collapsed view of my hard-work!

The collapsed view was supposed to “mimic” turning the page of a book! That’s all!

But I realized that clicking the NextPage one by one took too long to load the webpage!

So I opted to try out the Table of Contents block! This worked to achieve both goals: to delete Navigation menus with internal jump-page links (which took too long to manually enter into the Settings fields of Text, Link, Description and Title Attribute) and to provide readers (who have eyeball problems) to click the underlined or under-score link instead of guessing what is going on with the NextPage links located at the bottom of the book or page. The NextPage block links do NOT have the Title Attribute features which is the hover-over mouse for the Description of the links.

I noticed yesterday and/or two days ago that my OLD NextPage block could NOT be moved within an established Group. It could only be “moved” by inserting the NextPage block INTO a Group, which then could be clicked/dragged/moved/placed in the desired located! So I had to get ride and did delete the NextPage blocks.

So I’m proud to share that my happiness factor on this glorious anniversary of blogging 19 years on WordPress.com is normal.

20250214-1204. Greetings, chumps! It’s a Happy V-Day with bright happy sunshine and cold temperatures. I’m happy today, too! No love to worry about. Love spelled backwards sound like evolution or evil like Evil Kitty, your paw-some author here.

Today makes the 19th year of blogging with WordPress.com. Then I messed up using a self-hosted site a couple of years ago and then starting somewhere after 2018, I was rebuked from sharing personal information online.

Then on/about 2019 and due to that rebuke by, well, y’all know who you are, I deleted permanently my original account which was established since inception of WordPress.com or whatever and in which my ID number was VERY low among the few.

When I deleted permanently my original account, I suspected there were at least some sort of third-party advertising or marketing or something unknown was attached to the site: I took screenshots to that effect.

I may delete this site permanently; since there are NO heirs to inherit my crapload of rants. However, back in 2023 there was an offering for the 100-years site maintenance and then re-offered again this year. This could be on my bucket list.

Anyway, I had to rename this blog post from “From NextPage shortcode to Details and Table of Content blocks” to “Happy V-Day Anniversary”. Because I went off-topic again. The words “off-topic” was originally coined by none other than John Jr, our most prolific commenter on our weblog site here! I may be mistaken. Correct me if I am wrong/I have erred.

20250213-1848. Due to my BAD attitude and plain laziness/slothfulness, I didn’t bother using the Design > Styles > Colors and left everything to “Default”! Lo and behold! I have discovered how to customize the colors!

The default color palette was drab but still good with basic Black and Blue, like the colors of bruises. Haha!

Anyways, I need to have colors! I used pinkish for Default link and bluish for the Hover. Voila! That was easy! And I suffered all this time because I didn’t even try it out!

The text, captions, button and heading also use the same bluish color for the Default link.

Now for the button, I used a bright orange gradient color. The only button I see for now is the “Search” button and magnifying glass.

For the heading background, I used a subdued grayish gradient color. I believe this is in place of the usual “underline” score for links found in headers, too.

Earlier I got tired of the default Typography and went into and changed each element (Text, Links, Headings, Captions and Buttons) from Default sans whatever to my favorite curly serif font called “Merriweather”. Heck, even my Kimball upright piano has curly designs like TATARIANS!

I put back my favorite gray bamboo background image, too.

I don’t know what Shadows does and didn’t touch this one.

For the Layout, I touched it! I made the default content width from 700 px to 800 px! Yay! Finally, my stuff won’t look squished should I keep switching out from one theme and back to this current Blank Canvas theme!

I left the Wide width at 1160 px, which is larger than the default Wide width of Elementor at 1140 px! Yay! This is also my personal shocking discovery!

Welp, that’s all for now! I still have to FORCE myself to explore, being a shut-in, shy, introvert and all. Sheesh.

20250212-2300. Since yesterday, I was determined to make my audio bible project perfect. Unfortunately, I was trying to customized 66 individual templates, in which the audio block file and navigation menu override the normal header. But I saw that the system was VERY angry at me and refused to load my templates fast enough!

I knew right then and there that the customized templates are supposed to be few or none at all; since the theme’s default template should have sufficed. The current theme Blank Canvas really only has three templates: Index, Pages and Single Posts. I had to Add New Templates (All Archives, Page 404 and Search Results) to pick up where I believe the default Index doesn’t work. Then today I had NO choice again but to create a “Front Page” where we are now.

It’s 2309 PST and I got a Like from John Jr from my previous post about being happy with my weblog! Thanks! Actually, the bottom section of my “front page” was because I was thinking about how his Archives are located on the bottom of his front page, too. So I figured that I should borrow/copy/incorporate the layout in his honor. (Oh boy, Imma full of crap! But that’s just me. Haha!)

So, back to my audio bible project. All but three audio bible files are uploaded into their respective “book” pages. Then my coconut head wanted the Sticky position for at least the audio and the navigation menu with its drop-down menu selection for each individual verses! That’s crazy. But I wanted it so, thinking it would be convenient and faster to “jump” to the ID instead of hunting (scrolling up and down) for a particular verse, especially when I’m in a hurry while following along any “preacher”.

Yeah, so I ended up deleting all my customized bible templates and stuck the elements into a two-column layout instead of what was supposed to be a Sticky position dedicated into the Header above. It simply was too much work and I had to start over. I already have about 1/6th of the rework completed.

What I had to do was edit the Text version because Visual version did NOT have the hard-codes that I needed to Replace All the old text with the new text containing the ID’s for the Header and individual verses.

Yeah, sure, I could plug everything into a spreadsheet and convert it to a csv file and then upload it enmass via a plugin and into weblog site and over-riding the same old pages.

But after that is done, I would still have to manually pull-in the audio block file one-by-one and Imma NOT gonna do that again!

So that’s all for now as I continue to create MORE internal jump-links within the same page (at least) or the entire weblog site. I do NOT know for sure because I fail to read and absorb information from countless online documentations!

I made sure to copy OLD works and NEW ones, too. Because when I work fast/quickly, I tend to make errors. And that’s annoying but good practice to safeguard against missing data!

20250212-2238. Greetings, chumps! It’s raining tonight and I love the rain, too!

Anyway, I’m pleased to announce that my weblog site looks awesome, in my opinion. The layout has three columns from theme 2024 with two skinny columns for both the left and right, I guess as placeholders.

I then had to figure out how to make the left sidebar column disappear for the Mobile view. And before and during our late supper tonight, I had one of those incoming thoughts of inspiration. I combined the Page List block within a Navigation block, which I set to collapse during Mobile view instead of either Off to keep the Overlay menu visible or the opposite which is to Always keep the Overlay menu invisible.

After figuring out the details for the left sidebar column, my recent blog posts/latest posts is where I want in: in the middle column! That leaves the right sidebar column, which contains two groups of external links. I borrowed/copied the layout from my alternate blogging/ranting planform over at Twatter/Hexed!

That was the top section of the “front page”. The bottom section contains all my favorite WordPress blocks or widgets for “Archives” in a particular order as follows: Archives and Calendar by month, Categories List and its Tag Clouds and Blog stats which currently shows an ominous numerical value of 3,666!

No, seriously, this is the kinda/sorta crapload that keeps me fighting in this spiritual battle as I mentioned in my OLD deleted blog entries about encountering such daily occurrences by vehicular license plate numbers, current clock/watch times and other syncs too numerous to mention.

As for the Header above, I stream-lined the clutter to just the Site Title and a Paragraph, both of which I borrowed/copied from the Blogger dot com platform. I used to prefer having Navigation menus and at least the Search button or bar somewhere towards to top.

But now the clutter landed in the Footer below, where I have more external links duplicated from the right sidebar column and internal page links, too! The same Site Title from the Header in located in the footer, including its Tagline and the new Search Magnifying Glass from theme Timestream.

I believe/think the current theme Blank Canvas will have to “stick” because it’s hard-coding handles/suits my preferences for width and huge fonts/text.

I’ve kept the background basic light white and the fonts dark black. Once again, this color combination should help those with vision impairments.

20250213-1145. I had to stop and take a break early this morning after realizing that forcing 66 templates under one theme can’t be transferred to a different theme should I decide to switch themes (again), NOT unless I save 66 templates as patterns.

So I’ll have to meditate if I wanna proceed after creating multiple templates under the current theme and/or proceed to save each one as patterns!

I wanted the Content to contain the audio block, navigation block and the paragraph blocks for each of the 66 audio Bible books.

My elderly father and I are eating the usual fruits for breakfast. He has been yakking lately after being rebooted/restarted. Sheesh.

20250211-2258. For my KJV audio bible project, I still have more templates to create for each of the 66 books!

I thought I was done but I have 3 outta the 5 templates created for Ruth, Obadiah and Philemon as three of my template test subjects.

The other two books for Jude and Revelations are still pending their own templates.

It took my small mind/big brain/huge head to meditate and keep on testing on how the layout responds to three views for Desktop, Tablet and Mobile. I’m testing the responsiveness through the Jetpack app for iPhone.

The “Audio” block responds well to the Mobile device view: I could see my Caption: Listen to audio bible here.

However for both the Desktop and Table views, the “Audio block does NOT respond well: the caption is either missing or cut-off/NOT readable!

This is the same either in portrait or landscape mode! The “Audio” block turns into a mini “YouTube” icon instead of the horizontal long skinny version!

I’ll have to rework/retest the faux “Header” to pick up the “Audio” block in its own “Row”. I originally have both the book title and audio block in one row.

20250211-2138. Welp, I’m back to theme Blank Canvas where my beautiful Merriweather fonts and HUGE text appear larger than expected. The background is my OLD gray bamboo image. I complete forgot where I was lead astray only to return to what handles my stuff pretty good.

In reviewing what looks good versus what I expected, I ended up just having my blogs appear on the FRONT-COVER homepage and NOT have a separate Posts page, too. It just doesn’t make sense to have static pages for a defunct weblog site of mostly rants.

So now it’s just what it’s supposed to be: a blog – plain and simple. I thought adding all the colors would make it better – but it just got outta hand and worse: I still was NOT completely satisfied.

It’s almost like sinning for nothing and blogging just for the heck of it.
