Dear diary,

I’m able to sit down and rest after struggling to get Mom into bed from the wheelchair. She has done much better since yesterday, and that may be partly due to the whatever is making her take power naps.

I’ve sustained edema in my lower extremities, meaning I’m gained weight, heavier, more on my feet, and NOT raising my legs up.

Mom said that I could put on my resume – volunteer caregiver. I’m NOT certified, you idiots! I’m learning from Mom and other CNAs.

Ideally, the closest family member, usually the good daughter, should process the sick and disabled, especially the elderly parents.

This helps ‘free’ up the CNAs with those who are truly helpless. With Mom, she’s VERY fussy and On-Demand.

In order to avoid raising her vitals, I have to process her request immediately. This is part of her recovery effort.

This is also my karmic debt. What I’ve done many slong years ago was to make a windfall gain and get outta her life, so I could live mine!

Alas! The Lawd Gawd did NOT allow me the opportunity to be ‘Married with Children’. Mercifully so, I was ‘saved’ from responsibilities of family life and such, especially in-laws. Eew!

Yeah, so attached is an image showing an nice sharp scissor left lying on a table. I told the Clinical Case Manager but she didn’t know who it belongs to. Huh. Shall I ding this place for OSHA violation? No big deal, y’all say? Okay, fine.

Dear diary,

I’m getting the hang of assisting Mom while she’s in bed. I don’t alway press the whitish call button for CNA help.

As long as the patient is able to turn sideways and HELP us, we are able to straighten the drop sheets (for moving the patient higher on the bed, after repeated slipping downward from sitting upright and for moving left and right for centering); to apply the diaper; and to wipe after shoving the thick ass bed pan under the weakened patient’s big ass.

It’s 1311, and both PT and OT are evaluating Mom’s progress for their damn reports so she can go home relatively independent as possible. Yup. So they’re doing the evals for feeding herself, getting outta bed, standing up, sitting down, going poop, and brushing her teeth.

It’s 1324, and the twosome are walking her with the wheelchair behind her. And I finally can cool off in the cooler part of the building and blog without freaking interruption! Unfreaking believable!

Anyway, the temperature seems cooler. I’m hopeful Mom would make a full recovery, or least a partial outsole while she gets treated for the same recurring bug that they could never find or kill completely with the failed two attempts of two weeks and then six weeks and then three months!

Dear diary,

I’m blogging via my smartphone because Mom’s private room is small and I don’t have the space to whip out my laptop and mouse.

The room is stuffy and warm, though Mom the patient isn’t complaining about the room temperature. I’m already sweating inside my clothes!

I have my sweat guard – a cotton, sleeveless undershirt, which is underneath my regular tops.

At 1019, I’m still busy with the IV alarm going off, Mom constantly being aroused and bugging me with her crap, and clarifying the scheduling mixup with this stupid facility. Freak them all!

I just replied to a separate email to the social service coordinator about the scheduling of the appointments and transportation. But all is well because we’re all learning NOT to mess up each other.
