  • Empty room…

So during a surprise visit from the boy for lunch on Friday, he talked about people and his problems. Apparently, the twit’s nephew called her a couple of days or so ago without informing her husband, the boy. The nephew wanted to use an empty room upstairs to store their junk! The boy kept emphasizing how the parents of the newlywed are wealthy and how backyards of both parents are big enough to store their junk. For whatever reason, I’m suspecting that both sets of parents don’t want their junk.

Now, the problem is the twit’s side. Their tradition is to look out for each other and save their money by getting a “free ride” whenever possible. Troubling others is one way to get what they want. For the boy, he was distraught over the fact that he was barely scraping enough to pay his mortgage and then he has to get an earful from people who have more than enough means to do their own things without “dumping their problems” on older people, like him and the twit.

I told the boy several times (by mouthing the F-word) that they are NOT related and that they might need access to their junk at inconvenient times and without his permission but via the twit. So I could foresee any liability arising from such arrangements, even if payment in cash is accepted to house their junk. Where do these people come off doing things like that to others? Don’t they think that it’s embarrassing to use other people in the last minute?

But in hindsight, if the newlywed has nowhere to go, no parents to rely on and are dirt poor, then by all means the twosome should help out, for a fee of course). Because in this day in age, nothing is for free. Everything is getting expensive. For example, Maw and Paw helped two couples stand on their feet. One couple was my late Uncle Florene and his wife Hely and four teenagers; the other was Edith and OG and two toddlers. Both sets have stayed in our home while they saved their money to start their own lives.

Empty rooms are mean for people, not for junk. In America, there are storage units for this “rich” couple to pay every month, if they want. But because they are so cheap, they are not worth helping. Perhaps, if only the boy and his twit would make at least one child after being married since December 2008, then there would be no empty room for junk of theirs or other people on their property. Right now, the empty room is cool and quiet and only a space which should have been filled with the laughter of children playing.

  • Annoyed humanoind…

For two days (and after popping in fresh batteries from three days ago), Maw and I (with Paw looking on) have played with an R2D2™ Interactive Astromech Droid (© 2001).  We kept saying the commands but noticed that the unit would shake its head back and forth in the “negative”. We joked that it was alive and understood us. But that’s only science fiction, where Maw wanted a better robot to play and talk with, just like the cartoon “The Jetson”, a family with a robot maid. So I video taped the “Dance Program” with my Samsung Epic 4G™ and uploaded the file via the Tumblr for Android app. As you can see I happen to work and play with droids.

But I don’t get along with droids that can’t keep up with fast changes in technological advances, like computers and cellphones or in spiritual concepts, like compassion and understanding. For example, Paw has spaced out and forgets things. Yesterday, he was helping with chopping ingredients for a meal. Later Maw had to take away a simple activity to speed things up. The old man stared at Maw chopping carrots. When it came time to clean up, he scooped up the items to discard and placed those into the freshly chopped carrots instead of into the trash! We had our giggles and the realization that we are all getting old.

Recently, I’ve noticed that I’m not focused and tend to forget my train of thoughts. (That’s why I’ve resorted to taking notes via the “Memo” app of my smart/cellphone.) I would forget what I ate or what I did in the past. Further, I’m not having enough energy and feeling weak. I’d find myself barely able to get out of bed and would drag my feet the whole day. Just this morning , I kept blowing a short fuse and snapping at little things. This was my severe reaction to the three cups of caffeinated coffee this morning and/or that I may have hypertension due to being clogged in the arteries with high cholesterol and high triglyceride levels. Or that I’m tired of taking care of two old people.

Whatever is happening, I’ve been slowly switching to the droid mode. Just going through the motion of living, eating and doing chores while dreaming, floating and taking naps. The sources of mental nourishment are my parents, the parakeets, the garden and, yes, my blog. I would suspect that inordinate amount of time using the electronic gadgets is burning my mind as I constantly check my empty emails and hope for anything from the online reader. There’s nothing else for me to do but keep looking for work that won’t be there anyway. And So I see myself as another useless human who is merely playing a supportive role to whoever needs my help.

Like any mechanical object, this human form will slowly wind down with age. It’s only a matter of time when I will have dementia or even Alzheimer’s disease — a condition of staring blankly at a person, not know who I am, where I am and not knowing what to think or what action to take without guidance. Hopefully, I won’t be a prisoner in my home and depend on others on how to eat and dress myself. At least for now, I can rest assured that I can go outdoors and know how to get back home (2012/02/11 22:47).

  • My mirror…

A few minutes ago, I asked Maw: How do you see yourself in the mirror? She didn’t understand as I repeated the question twice, flipped on the light switch and placed her in front of the big vanity mirror. She replied: “Only white hair.”

Well, that’s what I expect to see when I get older — my mother with white hair. You see, both of us are too simple. We don’t wear much make-up, do our hairs fancy or wear nail polish. When we do attend morning mass, we “don” ourselves descent clothes and act ourselves.

Like Paw, we don’t pretend to be people we are not. We don’t compete with anyone and don’t brag about our achievements. As a matter of fact, we feel “awkward” to be among those “pretentious” people who want recognition.

Sure we get along fine with family and friends, but only up to there — never getting too close to their situation or being too influenced by their expectations for us to “show off”. No. We didn’t go down that path socially.

Personally, we kept up appearances in our own special ways by donating to the church and local donation centers and visiting the sick and dying when possible. We bought many cars and are left with one luxury car and a beater car. The house is paid off and the monthly income is enough for our lifestyle.

The rest is history — the three of us graduated college, bought whatever we could afford and got along well with each other. We learned that life is indeed short to carry out more than necessary, other than enjoying our company and whoever visits or calls us on occasions.

The only sad part was being ignored by our ungrateful relatives in the Bay Area. We just got tired of the partying and competition, the gossiping and back biting and basically faded away from the disconnect among Paw’s siblings and the problems of ALL cousins thereof.

In July 2000, I wanted to change that. I wanted to raise up my family and make others feel proud of us. And so I let my ego over-rule my “common sense” and I paid the price dearly. The “ride” didn’t stop there. I met more strangers and even stranger events that didn’t make sense.

Now, it’s 2012, and I still am trying to get rid of my past. But so many memories of hurt won’t leave. So it is with this blog, the reason for my “daily boost” to live another day/night and to share what I’ll leave behind — nothing because of my hiding behind a pseudonym.

Sure I’ll continue to hook up online and link up websites. But all that is to bring readers INTO their sites and not UNTO moi, you damn dummies! I don’t really care about my weblog or if people read the “honest” contents or make useless comments. If only I could move it elsewhere, I could but the WordPress.com export doesn’t work for registered domains!

If you must know, my “curiosity” to lurk in the internet and to troll around the sites were “tests” to see how many damn dummies would take my “hook, line and sinker” via chatting in online messengers or participating in forum discussions.

That’s not my purpose. My purpose is just let out steam. I know damn well TPTB and pals are lapping up my thoughts as if blog are food and drink that could be made into scripts for the theatrics in the grand scheme of things.

Most of my contents are “borrowed/stolen” anyway — a mirror of my observations and experiences on this hellish planet. In one of my recent comments to a WordPress.com blogger, the material may NOT always belong to me but to those who offer inspiration.

So I ask you: what will you want me to say in my blogs? Do you want me to stop making noise and disappear forever, take down everything online, save for emails? Or do you wish to give me advertisement-free material until I die or get bored, whichever comes first?
