Out of sheer, frustrated boredom AGAIN, I’ve changed my theme here at WordPress.com to:

The Journalist v1.9 by Lucian E. Marin

Journalist is a smart, minimal theme designed for professional journalists.

    Tags: white, two-columns, fixed-width, light, widgets, rtl-language-support, right-sidebar, sticky-post

    PROs:

    • Archives – Complete archive of the blog’s posts. This is the first time I’ve noticed how chock full of stuff this one page could hold: Monthly, Topic (which is really Categories) and Tag.
    • Links – Complete list of the blog’s bookmarks.
    • Meta data nicely referenced on the bottom of both PAGES and POSTS.
    • Archives mode shows posts in their entirety and descriptive headers on top left of each page.

    CONs:

    • Cellpadding for tables are automatically set to zero! It’s hard to read! As a result, I’ve removed the table features from the following pages: About, Contact, Contents and FAQ. I’ve left the table for the Dorkboy page because the quote allows for automatic CELLPADDING, without editing the CSS stylesheet.
    • Padding for list styles are TOO close to each other.
    • Boring colors of black and white. The webpages load up faster.
    • No RSS feed to follow EACH post entries.
    • Meta data not located underneath the post title.

I’m trying another theme here at WordPress.com:

    MistyLook by Sadish

A two column white theme with top-level page navigation and large custom header.

    Tags: custom-header, two-columns, fixed-width, rtl-language-support, white, light, right-sidebar, widgets, sticky-post

This theme is perfect for viewing pages because:

    • it has sub-pages;
    • this particular weblog is not designed for the most recent (or latest) post entries and;
    • it doesn’t have a date stamp for a more accurate and up-to-date snapshot of when I post a blog entry.
  • 20091206-Tweaking Again

That day I switched to the Kubrick theme by Michael Heilemann here at WordPress.com.

    My advanced `Header Colors` are:

    • Font Color (CSS): #FFFFFF
    • Upper Color (HEX): #CC99CC
    • Lower Color (HEX): #330033

I stick my tongue out! I’m trying yet another theme here at WordPress.com:

    Pool by Borja Fernandez

A blue two column with tabbed page navigation, custom header, and widgets.

    Tags: custom-header, blue, two-columns, rtl-language-support, white, light, right-sidebar, widgets, sticky-post, fixed-width

    Personal PROs:

    • Time/date stamp appears for posts, not pages.
    • Posts viewable in entirety via archives mode.
    • Search form near header.
    • Top, navigation bar.
    • Two-columns, one sidebar (floating left).
    • Listed, order and unlisted items stable for both FireFox and Internet Explorer.

    Personal CONs:

    • No tagline.
  • 20091120-Old Theme

After a few minutes of the `P2` theme, I’m trying an old theme here at WordPress.com:

    Quentin by Mike Purdy

A rustic, older feeling and dignified two-column theme.

    Tags: two-columns, fixed-width, brown, rtl-language-support, right-sidebar, widgets, sticky-post

I had to edit my paid Custom CSS.

    I ain’t got no satisfaction.

I’m trying the recently updated theme here at WordPress.com:

P2 by Joseph Scott, Matt Thomas, Noel Jackson, Isaac Keyet, Andy Peatling, and Automattic

A group blog theme for short update messages, inspired by Twitter. Featuring: Hassle-free posting from the front page. Perfect for group blogging, or as a liveblog theme. Dynamic page updates. Threaded comment display on the front page. In-line editing for posts and comments. Live tag suggestion based on previously used tags. A show/hide feature for comments, to keep things tidy. Real-time notifications when a new comment or update is posted. Super-handy keyboard shortcuts. Helvetica Neue for you modern font lovers. And more to come…

    Tags: blue, two-columns, fixed-width, rtl-language-support, right-sidebar, white, light, widgets, front-page-post-form

    Personal PROs:

    • Tagline underneath blog title.
    • Meta-data all nice and snuggly underpost title with horizontal bar separating posts.
    • Avatar to the left of blog title and meta-data.
    • Basic white background for content and sidebar elements.
    • Basic black fonts, blue links and red hover with underline styles.
    • Nice polka data background of rainbow colors.
    • Post entries viewable in entirety under archive mode.

    Personal CONs:

    • Don’t understand the usefulness of this `Hassle-free posting from the front page` feature.
    • Caption for images doesn’t have borders! Waaahhh!
  • 20091118-Tweaking Again

Okay, fine! I couldn’t help myself again and switched back the WordPress.com theme: Dusk by Beccary! This means I’m making use of my paid `Custom CSS` upgrade, which won’t expire until next year!

And because visual (and audio) aide is so vital to my blogging experience, I’ll renew my two other WordPress.com subscriptions: the 5GB Space Upgrade – Extra shelves for your media library – and the VideoPress – Upload and embed videos.

Now if only I could find a satisfactory color scheme and a good order of appearance for my widgets, then I’ll be satisfied for now. Sorry for the inconvenience. I wish team Automattic could add more themes.

The one I want is similar to the current, `Dusk` theme but I would like my theme to include at least a top/navigation menu bar AND a tagline! Is that too much to ask?

  • 20091112-Old Theme

Well, I’m using the `Connections` theme with 11 widgets for free here at WordPress.com. There are no changes made to the theme’s CSS stylesheet.

Why? As mentioned in my previous blog entry, my weblog looked messed up via the Internet Explorer and probably from constantly tweaking my paid `Custom CSS` upgrade.

And because one referrer is from an educational website for children, I MUST keep the contents of my weblog clean. That means more humor and less rant! Damn!

In addition, this theme is a good way to show off my interest in orgone. With a classic, two column theme of cream and green colors, there are three widgets of orgone-related images. I’ve already received three views for two of these three images this day.

Here is the current order to the widgets:

    • Image: Welcome back!
    • RSS Links: Subscribe now!
    • Search: Search weblog
    • Pages: Main menu
    • Image: Dorkboy
    • Image: Orgone
    • Image: Readings
    • Image: Want to help?
    • Akismet: Spam blocked
    • Blog Stats: Blog stats
    • Text: Various links

In order to view the sidebar widgets, please click the `Home` page. Thank you.

You may refer to my previous blog entry – `20091108-Old Theme` to find out why I like to keep this current `Connections` theme here at WordPress.com.

  • 20091112-Trying Theme

Bah! The Internet Explorer browser burped out my preferred `Dusk` theme here at WordPress.com. So I ended up activating the `Connections` theme of cream and green, the mean machine.

  • 20091110-Tweaking Again

I couldn’t stand it for another day! The `Misty` theme was good because of the sub-pages feature and so was the `Connections` theme because of the `Georgia` fonts, along with the menu bar, tagline and custom header.

But I needed my time stamps on both archive and single view modes! So I reverted back to the `Dusk` theme and `borrowed` the colors from the `Connections` theme for just the background.
