Maw was cleaning out one of her drawer (center) from her mirrored furniture, a first as a newly wed long ago, and pulled out a handkerchief, which her late eldest sister, Nita, gave to her many years ago. Nita told Maw to keep it in her handbag; for it is supposed to protect her. It is currently laying on a white, plastic table for viewing later on in the living room. It’s mostly in Filipino (or specifically Tagalog). Only Paw seemed to be able to interpret the words.

The right hand column is mostly empowered affirmation to believe in God:

    EL SHADDAI
    * Awit ng Pagtitiwala sa Diyos *
    * SALMO – 91 *

    1. SIYANG NAGHAHAHGAD NG PAGKUPKOP NG KATAAS-TAASAN, AT NANANATILI SA KALING NIYONG MAKAPANGYARIHAN,
    2. MAKAPAGSASABI SA KANYANG PANGINOON, “MUOG KA’T TAHANAN IKAW ANG AKING DIYOS, ANG DIYOS ANA TANGI KONG PINAGKATIWALAAN.
    3. IKAW’Y ILILIGTAS NIYA SA PANGANIB SA UMANG NA BITAG, AT KAHIT ANO MANG MABIGAT NA SALOT DI KA MAGDARANAS.
    4. LULUKUBAN NIYA SA LILIM NG KANYANG MALABAY NA PAKPAK, SA KALINGA NIYA NATITIYAK MO NA IKAW AY LIGTAS; IINGATAN NIYA’T IPAGSASANGGALANG, PAGKAT SIYA’Y TAPAT.
    5. PAGSAPIT NG GABI, DI KA MATATAKOT SA ANUMANG BAGAY, MAGING SA GAGAWING BIGLAANG PAGLUSOB PAGSAPIT NG ARAW.
    6. NI SA ANO PA MAN DARATING NA SALOT PAGKAGAT NG DILIM, DI KA MATATAKOT SA KASMAAN MANG ARAW KUNG DUMATING.
    7. KAHIT NA MABUWAL SA INYONG HARAPAN ANG SANLIBONG TAO. SA IYONG PALIGID ANG BILANG NG PATAY MAGING SAMPUNG LIBO, DI KA MATATAKOT AT NITITIYAK MONG DI KA MAANO.
    8. IKAW’Y NAGMAMASID AT SA PANONOOD IYONG MAMAMASDAN YAONG MASASAMA AY MAKIKITA MONG PINARURUSAHAN.
    9. SAPAGKAT SI YAHWEH ANG IYONG GINAWANG TAGAPAG-SANGGALANG AT ANG PINILI MONG MAG-IINGAT SA YO’Y KATAASP-TAASAN.
    10. DI MO AABUTING IKAW’Y MAPAHAMAK, AT WALANG DARTAL. KAHIT ANONG URING MGA PAGHIHIRAP SA IYONG TAHANAN.
    11. SUSUGUIN NIYA ANG MARAMING ANGHEL, SILA’NG SUSUBAYBAY. KAHIT SAANG DAK IKAW MAPAROON, TIYAK IINGATAN.
    12. SA KANILANG PALAD AY ITATYO KA’T, SILA’NG MAGTATAAS, NANG HINDI MASAKTAN ANG MGA PAA MO SA BATONG MATALAS.
    13. KAHIT ANG TAPAKAN MO AY MGA LEON, AHAS NA MABAGSIK, DI KA MAANO SA MGA SERPIYENTE’T LEON MABABANGIS.
    14. ANG SABI NG DIYOS, “AKING ILILIGTAS ANG TAPAT SA AKIN, AT IINGATAN KO ANG SINUMANG TAONG AKO’Y KIKILANLIN,
    15. PAG SILA’Y TUMAWAG, LAGING HANDA AKO NA SILA’Y PAKINGGAN AKING SASMAHAN AT KUNG MAY HILAHIL AY SASAKLOLOHAN, AKING ILILGTAS AT AN BAWAT ISA AY PARARANGALAN,
    16. SILA’Y BIBIGYAN KO’T GAGANTIMPALAAN NG MAHABANG BUYHA. AT NAKATITIYAK NA ANG TATAMUHIN NILA’Y KALIGTASAN!”

The left column encourages the reader to ‘Please, Pray the Rosary’:

    HAIL MARY

HAIL MARY FULL OF  GRACE; THE LORD IS WITH THEE; BLESSED ART THOU AMONG WOMEN AND BLESSED IS THE FRUIT OF THY WOMB, JESUS. HOLY MARY, MOTHER OF GOD, PRAY FOR US SINNERS, NOW AND AT THE HOUR OF OUR DEATH.

    AMEN

I remember listening to a lovely song entitled `El Shaddai` as sung by Amy Grant and always wanted to know the lyrics to this song and hear it in its entirety. So, tonight was the time to find out, which I did by a quick search.

Here is a YouTube.com video by DanielMAwale: El Shaddai.

While watching the video, I just cried, which usually means something this beautiful has TRUTH and touched my heart with her soothing voice, the piano playing softly in the background and the strong visual aides. Below are the lyrics per video:

    [REFRAIN]

    EL SHADDAI, EL SHADDAI
    EL-ELYON NA ADONAI

AGE TO AGE YOUR STILL THE SAME
BY THE POWER OF THE NAME

    EL SHADDAI, EL SHADDAI
    ERKAMKA NA ADONAI

    * WE WILL PRAISE AND LIFT YOU HIGH
    EL SHADDAI

THROUGH YOUR LOVE AND THROUGH THE RAM
YOU SAVE THE SON OF ABRAHAM

THROUGH THE POWER OF YOUR HAND
YOU TURNED THE SEA INTO DRY LAND

TO THE OUTCAST ON HER KNEES
YOU ARE THE GOD WHO REALLY SEES

    AND BY YOUR MIGHT
    YOU SET YOUR CHILDREN FREE

    [REFRAIN]

THROUGH THE YEARS YOU MADE IT CLEAR
THAT THE TIME OF CHRIST WAS NEAR

    THOUGH THE PEOPLE COULDN’T SEE
    WHAT MESSIAH OUGHT TO BE

THOUGH YOUR WORD CONTAINED THE PLAN
    THEY JUST WOULDN’T UNDERSTAND

YOUR MOST AWESOME WORK WAS DONE
THROUGH THE FRAILTY OF YOUR SON

[RERAIN TWICE] for both refrains, please replace * with the following verses:

I WILL PRAISE YOU TILL I DIE
    EL SHADDAI

On 08/27/2007, 09/04/2007 & 10/05/2007, the San Jose Water Works (SJW) worked on our leaking meter in the streets. (Yeah! Right!) Took lots of photos of yellow and blue trucks, men (yum) and tools.

Behold! A big zucchini measuring over 12 inches. ‘Twas served with tomato as a stew & eaten in 2days. Don’t have pic of ‘opo squash‘ as tall as me from long ago.

Old fart dumps good spinach leaves underneath the yellow ones. Broken and useless for parishioners. How could stupid and HATEFUL people get away & ruin family??

  • 20090609-Cheap Shoes

That day after morning mass, I noticed my worn-out pair of black-colored flat shoes (or ‘pumps’). The top had what appeared to be scratches but I paid little head; for they were the most comfortable shoes I could find from Payless ShoeSource.

They felt more like slippers than for dress wear, which was why I’d always wear my favorite shoes to work and to mass. And for whatever reason, I find the cheaper stores are more comfortable than the higher end establishments. Plus they were dirt cheap for around $15.00.

As far as I know, I’ve had them for over 5 to 7 years. Now after taking a closer look, I saw the sides were already split. The material was not real leather but soft vinyl. And I love soft shoes. There was an almost spring-like bounce with each step I took. But as the years wore on, the heel portion of the shoes stretched out to the point where my feet would not stay inside.

    My old pair of shoes.

At least I had bought a spare long time ago at the same store but probably for a slightly higher price. So I brough those out and tried them on. I knew they hurt because the material is much tighter around the sides and the soles were not as padded. I didn’t suffer as much now that my feet felt much smaller due to the cold weather and maybe from exercising or whatever, like old age.

    My new pair of shoes.

I’m not too thrilled about this new pair, even though it does sport a couple of golden buckles on top of the shoes. The velor material is already wearing off a bit. But at least it doesn’t have cracks, slips out or look too basic, like my former shoes.

I can’t seem to get rid of my old pair because it had a classic look, perfect for any occasion. The toe area is WIDE enough for my toes to wiggle around and not pointed for entities with sharpened-claws. The length is, however, best at 9.5 inches. And I’m sure I’d leave behind large footprints on the beach sands.

And I couldn’t just throw the old one away because I could donate it to charity and someone else might benefit from this ragged looking piece of prized possession. Right now, it’s hanging with the rest of shoes that aren’t worn as frequently due to heels higher than 2.5 inches and the fact they feel too tight to wear for everyday wear.

    R.I.P old timer!

    Jeremiah Wright:

Them Jews won’t let Obama talk to me. He is my son.

Despite the apparent spreading of political hated via religious organizations of old wounds among HUMAN race, Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright DO look related. Notice the triangular smiles, pointed jawline to rounded chin and maybe the eyebrows and wrinkles leading from the nose to the cheeks as per the image:

  • 20090611-Prayer Journal

Long ago while shopping @ farmers’ market (Milpitas, CA) with Maw, we were approached by a white guy with gray hair. He seemed to look at Maw and asked her: ‘What language do you speak’?

Of course, I remembered a quote by ‘Al Bundy’ from the American sitcom, televised show entitled: ‘Married With Children‘. I loved that show and responded with a wide grin:

    Why? We speak AMERICAN!

He looked down at his handful of coins and smiled while deciding which ones to hand to us. He handed us this circular-shaped object, probably said something and walked away as we took the our coin with thanks.

    [slideshow]

Words outside perimeter read as follows:

I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me. (John 14:6)

Words inside perimeter read as follows:

How shall we excape if we neglect so great a salvation. (Heb 2:3)

Words in the center read as:

Jesus Christ | For God So Love The World That He Gave His Only Begotten Son. That Whosoever Believeth In Him Should Not Perish, But Have Everlasting Life. (John 3:16)

I don’t remember the exact of receiving this coin but it was a sunny and hot day. I do recall another person sitting underneath the tree when we exited with our grocery full of vegetables and that person also appeared to be a old Veteran.

A heart pin received from a former VP.

I’d like to share receiving a heart pin for Valentines Day long ago from our former VP of Finance, Dean M. She is a tall, white lady with short blond-highlighted hair. My hair is now short and will have to get a hair cut and highlights for a more professional, swimmer’s look, almost like a pixie cut.

After receiving a voicemail on my cellphone around 1520 and an email around 1523 today from Accountemps.com, I recall how there is still hope in spite of today’s ‘depressing’ employment (or job) opportunity.

I miss the finance team and my former employer. I miss working and earning money, too. But I miss being around nicer people. But that Cisco tower is crawling with negative entities back then. I don’t know about now.

  • 20090611-Religious Pins

This morning the crazed, old woman (Senora Josie) gave us some nice stuff to wear on our clothing. These are two pins. She first handed me an angel pin. Then she handed Maw a pin showing a mother and child.

Later she showed me attached to her right collar a blue, ceramic pin, which read ‘Perfect Angel’. I believe my ‘prayers’ have been answered ever since I been praying that people like her find peace. She is still grieving for her cousin/husband, whom she found dead while she ranted at him for sitting in the dark and on his chair, by the way.

Yesterday, the Vietnamese woman, who normally sits to Josie’s right in front of the pew from us, complained that Josie won’t stop minding other people’s business, would argue when she walked into the church that day and usually make all sorts of noise and faces at the old Asian lady for not raising the kneeling pad upon her arrival.

All we could do is smile and make the old Mexican smile. Her much older sister also mentioned that although her younger sister does appear to be helping her community, sometimes the effort is not reciprocated and unwanted when someone makes too much fuss.

Regardless, this is a synchronous sign of her handing me that angel pin tells me that her angels and everyone’s GUARDIAN angels are ever present and by the sides of their wards. I wonder why my own family don’t take a hint, no matter how I try to throw them many messages into the air and into their airheads.
