    There is nothing left
    to say except hope and pray
    that we will be one someday.

    There is always time
    to stay together and play
    with peace, love and joy each day.

    There are many more
    that stray beyond space and pay
    the price of knowledge today.

    Three more examples of haiku…

    Author’s note: I couldn’t sleep so I decided to squeeze in these three stanzas. Notice the balance in each line. The first word set of internal rhymes start with the letter ‘s’; while the second word set end with the letter ‘p.’ I don’t know how I create such personal masterpieces.

    A poem to my younger and only brother…

    Squirrel flicks bushy tail;
    twitches nose; blinks beady eyes;
    scampers and skitters.

    Squirrel has tufted up hair;
    small paws for food and prayer;
    and is curious.

    Squirrel digs up the ground;
    misappropriates seeds and
    squeals in victory.

    Another attempt at haiku (with three furry examples)…
    Inspired by a photo of my brother as an infant many years ago…

  • 20060512-Rolling Coins

    Rolling coins are fun.
    The coins jiggle in my palm.
    Thanks to ‘Paw’ and ‘Mar.’

    Piggy container
    let loose metallic droppings.
    A wooden stick
    prodded without stopping.
    There’s over one hundred worth.

    Hand towel on bed
    was for late night bean counting
    Deposit these coins
    due to debt have been mounting.
    Dirty and clean ones were picked.

    Place one by one or
    haphazardly in two rows
    and with utmost care.
    First the pennies and quarters
    then the nickels and dimes last.
