“Wow! Fred is wearing nicer clothes and looks cool in his shades!” Exclaimed Maw prior to morning mass yesterday!

Fred has been dressing much better ever since his wife, Rose, passed away. He wears darker colors, like a thug in black and other colorful but tight shirts. During the last few years of their marriage, Fred was VERY dressed down and would have a frown on his face while waiting for his disabled wife to hobble over and play catch up with him. He would wear faded, baggy jeans, over-sized camp shirts and sneakers. And he simply didn’t have a polished look.
Last Saturday evening, the boy came to church unshavened and unkempt. He wore faded jeans with holes, which I prodded with my finger in annoyance. His thin, long-sleeved cotton shirt was rolled up AND wrinkled. Time and time again, his OLD family would tell him to dress appropriately during mass. He looked like he just woke up or came back from a hard day’s work!

By comparing the two — one an old timer, broken in by marriage and five children later, and the boy, a newly married guy of only four years, I can tell that married guys who dress sloppily reflect their state of mind AND their emotional state. They are NOT happy in their marriage and are trying to show that they are taken by a wife who is NOT doing her job to keep her man happy and well dressed.
I hope the boy wakes up and find someone else that will match is passion in life and lifestyle, especially the way he spends to keep up appearances, which the girl does more so than him. It’s sad to see them together — a delusion of a childless marriage. He was told to fool around — at least he could produce children without the potential for traits of cancer.
