  • 20071031-Rumbling Thoughts

Angered thoughts of death and dying
    Destroy the noisy elder Maw
    Inner struggle, silent crying
    Annoy her patient elder Paw

    I don’t care anymore.
    Nothing matters at all.
    I am nothing to you.
    Nothing is left for hate.
    I am finished with love.
    Nothing is in my way.

Upstairs shower as my last straw
Eyes closed shut through mental sighing
Head held high and thoughts sent flying
    Heartfelt energy in the raw

    Back to the shower head
    Heard low rumbling of dread
    Felt a large truck coming?
    Earth shaking, ground numbing
    The back and forth motion
Up and down waves — ocean

‘Huwag mag galit ang Dios kasi ay mainit ang ulo nya.
Merong araw sa iyong lahat! Ito pag labasin insang lindol…’

Translation of couplet (last two lines of poetry) from Tagalog to English:

‘Don’t anger ‘God’ because her/my hot-headed temper has manifested in anger.
There is one day for everyone! This one manifested as an earthquake…’

Author’s note: First attempt at La’libertas‘ poem of 4-6-4-6-2 form.

Originally created on Sunday, November 04, 2007 8:51:41 PM about an earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on 2007-10-31 03:04:54GMT and located 8 kilometers (or 5 miles) NNE of Alum Rock, CA with coordinates of 37.432 -121.7769 9.2 per USGS website.

Of course, I was very angry again at Maw a few minutes prior to taking a shower upstairs when the earthquake occurred.

  • 20070123-Upbeat End

    ‘I will survive!’ beat
    Dancing Jesus neat
    Sandals and large feet
    Pavement of concrete
    Grooving to the beat
    Life is a sweet treat.
    Walking down a street
    A happy van greet
    Full impact defeat
    Bloody mass of meat

A poem based on an upbeat video showing an actor dancing to the tune of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’ song and dressed up like a Jesus, who in the end encounters a realistic hit and run.

Addendum: Here is a YouTube.com video entitled Jesus Will Survive – Jesus Christ! The Musical | Uploaded by javierprato on Apr 14, 2007.

Author’s note: I shared the video link via an email to Brat

  • 20060922-Basic Ten

    Perfect – the only one.
Not the earth, moon or sun.
    Not someone with a name.
    No money and no fame.
    No mother or father.
    No friends or brother.
    Not lonely without mood.
    Not hungry won’t steal food.
See, say and hear no bad.
No more fear or get mad.

A poem of ten lines with six syllables in abab pattern.

Author’s note: Based on the Biblical ten commandments.

  • 20060921-Only One

    God
    is One.
    As above
    and as below,
    Love is everywhere.
    The noise and chaos stop.
All that once was is now passed.
All that will be is yet unknown.
    Each of us is interconnected.
Each of us is a vibration of his love.

Created a poem of ten lines with progressive syllables for each line with no set rhyme.

  • 20060708-Bull’s Eye

I’m not afraid to protect and defend
anyone who would make me a good friend.
I took a test and passed with one missed score.
I wanted perfections to this I swore.

With this fine license I did acquire,
the right and safety on how to fire.
A rented browning was easy to point.
My first bull’s eye mark did not disappoint.

My purpose is a novice warrior
who has to stop being a worrier.

A simple attempt at quatrains (in pentameter)…

  • 20060708-Hearthly Home

A sixth poem to JB of Florida wherever he may roam…

A home is a temporal place on this earth.
A home is an eternal place somewhere.
We have chosen to live here since our birth.
    We have originated somewhere there.

Our souls forever dream in endless flights.
The stars and planets are beyond our reach.
Our travels are among different sites.
Many are here and now to guide and teach.

My thoughts keep repeating this lonely phrase
I want to go home now for all these days.

Simple goals in life bring simple pleasures.
My heart is thankful for being with you.
I thank you out loud as solemn treasures.
My arms are open to love you so true.

My home is here and I know where to find.
From nowhere and everywhere, there is me.
There are loving folks of the kindred kind.
My heart beats always and forever free.

My world takes small steps as I sing this praise
My home is with you now and for always.

Another attempt at two sonnets (in pentameter)…

  • 20060323-Slow Traffic

The icon world goes around and around.
Webpage is blank and website is not found.
    As I sit like an angry commuter;
I stare blankly at this slow computer

Where is the speed in the blink of an eye,
when white collar workers break down and cry?
Slow online connections and computers too
lead to frustration as we slowly brew.

The website worked and I smiled my big smirk.
My blog is as productive as this clerk.
