Day 16: A book you’ve read that changed your views on something.
Most of the books I’ve read has to be easy-to-read and no more than a couple of hundred of pages and in normal to large fonts. My impatient nature requires that I find how the book ends and hopefully the understand the whole book without looking up complicated words in the dictionary for their meanings.
A New Age book called “Common Sense and the Ageless Wisdom” by Don Bradley changed my views on something. In my previous blog entry, I briefly explained why everything happens for a reason, which is mostly for the better good, not that it is supposed to be a collective stream of consciousness of synchronous events but for individual lessons to be learned and taught to others who might benefit by sharing personal experiences through and by examples.
I learned that “just being there” for each other out of empathy, though in hindsight seems also to serve self (or one’s ego), is necessary for the whole as the very nature of sharing (not necessarily spreading the wealth) of knowledge, if not financially supporting a relationship to show one cares, is in the face of reality serving the “Lord”, our “God”, Allah, Buddha, Rama, etc.
There were many clues in this book that pointed out the golden rule: do good to others and in return others will (hopefully in some way, shape and form) will do good to you. It’s in the knowing and not the expecting that this rule does apply on this planet, a temporary ride full of ups and downs and meant to turn everyone all around in the hopes of getting people to wake up, be happy and enjoy each others’ company and life’s challenges until death do us part for another round or not in the afterlife. Cheers!
