  • 20080708-Baha’i Samoa

    After viewing the YouTube.com video entitled Sunset in Fiji, I came across this YouTube.com video entitled King of Samoa:

    Memorial to His Highness Susuga Malietoa Tanumafili II, who died at age 94 on May 11, was the first reigning sovereign to officially become a Baha’i.

    He was one of the longest (oldest) reigning monarch (national leader) in the world whose country of Samoa went from colonization to independence.

    He was a follower of the Baha’i Faith. Coincidentially, ‘Baha’i’ appears and sounds similar to the Filipino word, ‘bahai”, which means house.

    In 1984, Baha’i Temple opens in Samoa.
    In 2004, 50th Anniversay of Baha’I Faith in Samoa.

    Received the red onyx of hand-held size;
    As large as my heart of closed fist prize.
    Open and closed; the lid like a mouth;
    Thinking of my friend located due south.

    It’s past 03:30AM and couldn’t sleep.
    Tummy still aching from relative creeps!
    Placed my left palm upon the cool rocky lid;
    Connected to earth, underground; buzzed it did!

    Author’s note: I guessed this evening that my surprise package contained something in orange color. I shook it up and down to get a feel and guessed incorrectly about it being the height of a salt lamp. But at least I got the color correct. It will be used to store my fake blings. Thanks.

    Crucifying them! Crucifying them! For not going our way!
    Cousins and uncles and aunties to us betray!
    In-laws are considered outsiders at best.
    Fledglings like us have left their hive’s nest.

    Crucifying them! Crucifying them! For not being like us!
    Unwilling were they for calm, rational discuss.
    A sad discovery of ‘BLOOD ONLY’ kinfolks;
    Being nice to us clueless was only a hoax.

    Separate ways are the modern trend.
    When unity of people comes to an end;
    For family units and former friends;
    No get together or relatives spend.

    What will it take to make them go away?
    Where sentiments run high and gossips stray?
    Who will be the savior of humor and fun;
    Of goodwill instead of hiding to run?

    I am saddened that each has its own.
    The old ones forget the children are grown.
    Defrauded to move on with their lives;
    Fallen angels and their mindset hives.

    To create chaos out of nothing at all;
    The fools believe in standing tall;
    And worry without care to those who hurt;
    Leaving behind laughter and bloodied dirt.
