  • 20061020-Stupid Meeting

I am dismayed to find out that indeed Filipinos are notorious for gossiping. Once again I am the last person to know that three of my own kind has shared each others’ private chatting messages without care or the realization for the repercussions. But I have done my fair share of gossiping.

This was out of frustration for working here alone for 4.5 years. These new people have encouraged and influenced me to do the same gossiping about other people via chatting. Before the chatting services with all these dark-haired people up and down my aisle and before the company expanded to a much larger monster with internal grumblings of endless hunger, there was peace (for me at least).

I enjoyed being alone and my own department AND I got my job done without complaints (in and at my face) from other slave units. There was no such thing as getting in trouble by blaming each other. Hours were flexible! Now there is no peace but psychological war between the old and new work units. Because of the 404 and Sox compliance, we have limited freedom now.

And to my surprise, I actually found my early arrival at work around 08:00AM as part of the psychological warfare to conform to business standards. My goal was to compose four short pages of my daily tasks in fifteen minutes for this stupid meeting. I have so many versions of procedures for different people floating out there that I’ve deleted all older ones because my wordings change each time.

This stupid meeting once again was a joke to me because I’m still stuck doing most of the work! While the new people continue to flap their blow holes of hot air into my ear holes; this slave unit left out certain data to her favor and not mine. I learned that once Filipinos are caught or confronted; they lie and deny through their teeth.

She claims to have forgotten (yeah, right) why I took off on Tuesday when I already told ‘her’ twice during a meeting last Friday and around 06:00PM on Monday before she left work. I visibly got pissed in front of her boss and told the both of them that the email has an ‘out-of-office’ message as a clue to all co-workers as to why I was not at my stupid desk the whole day!

I hate them both for using me. I believe my presence was to justify their new stupid decisions – to email requests for taking vacations or sick leaves instead of verbal notifications. I have a feeling there may be incidences elsewhere in the company and by certain individuals who do not notify their ‘siege,’ I meant, their ‘lead’ of their whereabouts properly. [You know who you are, by the way!]

P.S. I too may not last long under this new regime. I am saddened but that’s life – stinky.
