Intro to Poems — Perfect verses
What is a poem?
“A verbal composition designed to convey experiences, ideas, or emotions in a vivid and imaginative way, characterized by the use of language chosen for its sound and suggestive power and by the use of literary techniques such as meter, metaphor, and rhyme. A composition in verse rather than in prose. A literary composition written with an intensity or beauty of language more characteristic of poetry than of prose. A creation, object, or experience having beauty suggestive of poetry. [French poème, from Old French, from Latin poēma, from Greek poiēma, from poiein, to create; see kwei-2 in Indo-European roots.]”

Who is a poet?
A poet is someone like me who has the spontaneous insight to pen their thoughts into paper without following standard forms of writing. Some do not need paper and recite impromptu in front of an appealing audience. Other poets are bloggers who prefer the electronic means of tickling their keyboards as if playing pianos for hours on end. Practice does make perfect for most in this way.
Why compose poems?
I have recently discovered the joys of creating poetry. This newest hobby has taken a life of its own and allows me to connect my realities through words and ideas as part of my ongoing personal evolution in this current lifetime. Poems are quite useful in collaborating artistic endeavors that normal blogging does not normally offer.
How much time and effort does poetry require?
Composing poems does not take too much effort at all. I find my thoughts are reflections of someone else’s experiences. Sometimes I let my imagination take the better of me and mix my own opinions and belief systems into the poems. There are times when writer’s blocks do occur and these are where the challenge become lengthy.
Where do find your subject matters?
Family and friends alike may be part of the blogger’s immediate sphere of resourceful information. They are well known and any sensitive issues should be treated as if they were reading the blogs. Strangers and other newsworthiness provide good sources of data as well.
