Monday was quite busy after waking up early around 05:00AM. My start of the day was, of course, to log online the computer, email my inquires, check my accounts and read some articles and my email messages, which are pretty much zero to at least one spam every other day and mostly from the second largest oil-rich country in Africa — Nigeria. Immediately, I began to sort out the piles of monthly statements and its notices, receipts and other paperwork.
These papers eventually found homes in a gray cash box with old hard plastic card and old movie tickets, one drawer from my white bedroom furniture, a big plastic container with other folders, a purple plastic container for holding smaller items, an eight cubby hole cardboard file above a beige-colored two drawer cabinet labeled ‘My Ticks’ or onto the floor where the piles of papers were later shredded. In one hour, I was back to an organized area located behind my computer workstation.
I scanned my returned letters, voided out that stale dated check and filled out new check to retain my California Environmental Personalized License (EPL) plate starting with the letter ‘F’ and after bringing down a load of laundry by 06:30 AM, snuck downstairs to the master bedroom where Paw slept while I ‘borrowed’ two of his stamps to mail this one item off.
Maw was already awake too and I greeted her but don’t remember conversing much. Then I brought upstairs the beige colored, hard plastic (but lightweight) hamper, the paper shredder to shred those papers, my purse to get my checkbook and two plastic, grocery bags for stuffing the shreds for disposal. Then the much needed shower was done.
With my damp hair (now straighten to its original structure during my younger years), I then struggled with the lowest but largest of three drawers from this vertical plastic cabinet to get that cash box out for filing my paper. I dressed myself half-heartedly but decently enough to look business casual.
By 07:30AM, I was out the door to buy gasoline and a venti, green tea latte. I confused the girl taking my order because I included ‘Chai’ with the drink and the other girl said they didn’t combine those two types of orders. My brain wasn’t fully awake and knew that the day would get better if I concentrated.
But unfortunately, I could not find my cellphone! And I repeatedly remembered that I the last time I saw my phone was when I removed that object from my left pocket of my gray vest after leaving Brat’s house last Friday evening. I had to drive back home because I needed to schedule a follow-up appointment with the doctor and make my important phone call.
I arrived with Maw answering the door and told her I lost my cellphone. My bio-units were eating their breakfast of warm toast that lingered in the air and I continued my calm but panicked search for this important cellular unit that gets very warm against my ear holes after a few minutes. From my jackets hanging near the foyer to the purse of Maw and all of upstairs, I could not locate that unit.
I went twice in the garage and through the insides of both the Benz and Mazda. Later, Paw helped by looking in the Benz while I opened the electrical garage door to search the Mazda for the third time, where I found the shiny steel look laying face down underneath of the driver’s seat. I gave Paw two hugs for being good luck and bad the twosome goodbyes.
What was goodbye to me was an offer by the company to let me go. This ‘package’ was described in a one to one meeting with the boss, who is quite effective in dealing with people. The concerns were raised and pretty much summarized by me upfront without denying the truth. I am not familiar with the company’s wonderful benefits or plans with me. I am, however, planning to take a one week vacation in the middle July 2007!
Later on that evening, dinner was served and conversation was about Brat and his new relationship with Twit. I don’t remember much but I’m pretty sure the story is the same about the difference of culture, language and behaviors between Westerners and Easterners. I believe I had chatted to a co-worker about Brats’ sarcastic text message about being sorry for my losing the cell phone in the first place.
My test message response was for him to verify with his bio-units, which is what Brat did for lunch that day. He got grilled by Maw and how we already closed our doors to his shenanigans but will help him out when he needs us. This was reported to me by Maw about how he continues to defend Twit and his bio-units. I got mad at Paw for not pulling Brat aside for once and speak to find out what the ‘pluck’ is his problem.
Brats’ complaint was really not about us inviting him to join us for Father’s Day but that he was surely hurt by his projected anger of Paw (or all of us for that matter) of not calling him in the first place. There seems to be this cry for closeness by son to father. Unfortunately, both stubborn persons would not initiate contact or offer some sort of reconciliation. For Paw is incapable of providing the fatherly role to his only son.
Later on, I continued upstairs and played with my first ever portable reader from Sony. I got this newest toy on Sunday prior to eating lunch. And I also bought the charging unit for the portable reader, a package of floppy disks (for transfer data stored on my primary computer to an outdated and very slow laptop computer that doesn’t have an Ethernet available on this model) and a package of CD-RW disks (for the slowest speed because I didn’t know the specifications of my CD recorder).
I went to bed with no success in transferring my files for blogs and poems that is readable. But I enjoyed sharing my samples with Maw. She did laugh and praised my writing ability and suggested I could publish my work for selling. But I believe my thoughts are borrowed from others and entered into blogs as mine and from my perspective. My next pursuit is creating my first eBook. And my search for software to help me get started became disappointing.
I later discovered there were freeware download online but meant for people to buy as shareware later. I tried to read from the new toy but found out I’d be sleeping sooner than later because the day has been long and trying for me. Cleaning one’s files from this morning’s activity is like reprogramming one’s old behavior of hoarding the work for oneself and having a more open attitude that is team oriented. Yuck!
